Homing briefcase for the sillyness for me!

    Or a fish. 😁

Had a quick go at Dubai earlier, sooooooo good to have more Hitman content! Will finish this mission before starting Freelancer, feel like I'll need to know the maps from H3.

As for the roguelite Freelancer, I don't mind the idea of losing items as it names the stakes higher when trying to finish a mission and get out of there. The main game is fun but there's no risk.

Tried my first freelancer mission, Isle of sgail which suited me as I've been playing it all week. 2 targets, first was handy, right near me and secluded. 2nd was in the main reception area surrounded by 50+ npc's and he's wouldn't leave, just circled around them. Managed to get him near an open walk way and distract him out far enough to kill without being spotted but no where near to hide the body. Legged it and escaped before anyone found him, got quite lucky but that was absolutely thrilling. Got out of there with a sword and an AR as well 😂 I'm gonna enjoy this mode.

First showdown, 3 of the suspects matched the description ffs. Waiting for their tells and then 2 matched. I saw one was being followed by a bodyguard so went for that one but the map was Colorado and was so hard to get get in her own. Took out the bodyguard and it all went to ****, killed instantly 😂 failed 2 missions since then, both on maps i haven't played before so think i need to go back to career mode and finish 3 first. Still love the chaos of the freelancer mode though.

I'm bouncing between freelancer and main game and they're both so good, like 2 different games. Freelancer is the straight up assassin game i was looking for but the levels, story and missions in the main game have been brilliant as well. Finished Dartmoor as the detective solving the case, became a proper who dunnit game. Started Berlin and it's just epic!

Berlin makes you, more than any other mission really, feel like an absolute badass ploughing through the target agents. It's a super level.

I just fucked an entire Freelancer run, by pressing the wrong button. X would have pushed the prick off the roof, netting me a bonus and getting me away scott free.

Instead I pressed the Q button, knocking him out, he fell off the roof instead and I had to end up shooting him because I couldn't access the body, and as a result I got hunted down and killed.

**** you, Dave. You piss me off sometimes.

I was half way through a campaign, on a mission in sapienza, 4 targets, 2 left in underground lab. Walked into alab room where i thought i was on but instantly the detection meter went crazy and i realized i walked into a hornets nest. Panicked, i killed the target and ran..... Into a dead end room. Killed **** 20 guards before they finally took me out. Campaign out the window and lost my favorite silenced pistol and lockpick. Has a bunch of money saved up for a silenced sniper. Absolutely sickened.... But we go again.

The sudden changes in room permissions sometimes have killed my runs as well. Very annoying when things change for no reason. I'd go so far as to say trespassing unintentionally has killed more runs than anything else.

I honestly don't bring anything other than the free gear with me on missions. It may not be designed as a collection simulator, but that's how I'm fuckin' playin' it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,000 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I was playing it like that, bring button with me, come back with a haul but i had a nice setup of the pistol and lockpick which made some of my runs go very quickly.

Rob's should highlight in yellow or something is they are off limits. I usual go really slow up to guards to see what they say but if there's none and i go into a room giving me trespassing message, I'd be sometimes wondering WHY!

Oh man. Happened to me recently too.

Was playing the Le Chifre contract and got to the point where Diana told me that the way to get to him was through the card dealer.

Walked up, instead of pressing X to talk to the card dealer, I reflexed and pressed square and unceremoniously dumped him off a balcony in full view of guards. I was the this guy for a good two minutes...

Berlin was absolutely epic. On my first go, i found a key to the radio tower so checked it out before even getting into the club. Expected to sneak up on someone but got a funny surprise.

2nd attempt, discovered how you come across agents and it's so good, Dave just like you said, hunting them down. Got the 5 of them, silent assassin and got out of there only to see i had killed a non victim and for the life of me, don't know who it was. I knocked out about 7 people and hid them in containers but fully sure i didn't use any lethal weapons on them so I'm stumped. Anyway, looks like there's tons of possibilities in that map and even more targets to find, i will definitely be back with my sniper.

It's nice going between that and chaotic freelancer where i feel much more inclined to kill recklessly to get the job done.

Probably put someone into a freezer, that will kill them. Personally I like the Rolf Hirschmuller route to take out the 5 agents

Completed China last night. Awesome awesome awesome. Found an ica agents car and apartment, looks like i can use him to get into the office but couldn't find him so moved on. Found the sniper by the neon sign but couldn't get a hit on the targets. Then the mission popped about the drones and eventually got the 2 targets to not only meet but cross each other allowing me to kill both with 1 bullet, just epic. Then turned into infiltration into super secure building and tense escape.

Then into Mendoza, again found the sniper nest before even getting into the main building and shooting both targets. I had to blast my way out though, very messy and quick so will definitely be heading back there.

    Onto the final mission now.

First time getting this far in Freelancer. More than a few hairy moments along the way. The later missions take quite an effort, time wise and you can't save so have to do them in one sitting.

Ooo that last run is gonna be tough! I'm 2 missions away from where you are, furthest I've gotten as well but I'm loving it. Getting bold in my decisions and some missions are getting messy but I'm getting through. Have a sieker and a kalmer which are making a big difference. I have a sniper but it's not silenced so I'm checking the supplier every mission of they have one for sale but no luck so far. I have 42 mercers built up for one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,906 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

I don't want to lose anything so I tend to go in with no weapons. I should probably break myself of that habit. Like saving up gems to socket in an arpg, but never actually doing so.

I think if you collect an arbitrary number of a weapon you should lock it in on the wall and be able to take it without fear of losing it.

I was watching a guy on YouTube who tackles freelancer missions in different ways as a challenge. His sniper only runs made me a lie more confident. I'm only choosing campaigns with silent and sniper kills for now mercers. Finally bought a silenced sniper but it has no zoom so I'm still on the lookout for a better one

Some hairy moments like ambrose Island, took out the 4 targets but had to drop my briefcase to get up to an area with a target and had to escape the opposite side so when it was time to leave the mission, had to take on a dangerous run just to get my sniper back. It really gives the impression this is MY gun and I've become attached to them. So much more rewarding leaving with all my guns and a few new ones for the wall.

I'm loving slowly building up my safehouse. Finally unlocked outside, just need some more relaxing outfits though 😊

Down to the last three missions. All high alerts - Colorado, Dartmoor and Whittleton bloody Creek, easily the destination i am the least familiar with. Previous two were very hairy, but got through them alive. This is going to make me ragequit for a week if when I **** this up.

If you get killed then pause and quit the game before the mission failed screen, you won't lose progress

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,000 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I've started doing that, these last string of missions are very getting very hairy. Not proud of it but i but i don't think I'd ever complete a campaign without it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,000 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

All my saving finally paid off. Had 42k and the supplier in mumbai was selling the legendary Jaeger 7 Tuatara sniper for 39k. Extra penetration, silenced, slow mo and 3 x zoom while only taking 2 spaces. Used it straight away in 2 targets in the trainyeardi was able to snipe through a window.

I love line going for SA but something very satisfying about being a sniper in freelancer.

    Right. Let's do this.

Determined to Silent Assassin this last one, but I will take escaping by a ball hair all the same.

Was so close to SA for the last one, but no of course someone had to turn around right as I subdued them (that can be so inconsistent).

I'm on the last one as well, Isle of skail, 9 suspects, 4 of which are all up in the highest tower, absolute pain.

I think when i start a new campaign, i won't do the quit and reload, try and get through it as it's meant to be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,906 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Yeah, I'm not going to do that, for this run at least. Got this far playing fair, only fair I try the finale too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,000 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Best of luck man! Funnily enough, i played a ton of whittleton creek while waiting for H3 to arrive, I'd much prefer to be doing that map than Isle of skail.

I've thing Freelancer has some for me, made me a better assassin that the main game ever did.

The last mission i did was in New York which i had never played before. Followed a guard into the jacks and thought, Nice, handy disguise straight away. Knocked him out in the cubicle only for a civ to walk in on us. Knocked her out only for another guy to walk in who was apparently in cubicle beside us, no idea how i missed him.

Anyway, bang start of the mission and 3 unconscious witnesses. Hid the guy back in his cubicle and noticed he dropped a gun which was weird. Then got into his cubicle and found a bank robber outfit. Looks like i interrupted a robbery 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,000 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

    Noooooooooooo

Got killed and i immediately went to dashboard, loaded back up in the infirmary, campaign over 😂😩

Serves me right quitting and reloading. Right, time to start a new one and no reloading this time.

Another one that tends to work is to pause and immediately pull the network cable/disconnect wifi.
