    Kirby Air Riders.

If you didn't know it was by the Smash Bros dev before playing you would definitely realise quickly enough.

Really enjoying DK Bananza, feels like a perfect interpretation of the Odyssey formula for DK. Can only play about an hour at a time before it starts giving me a headache though 😆

Playing BOTW + Expansion now and again, for the 3rd time. Don't really have time to invest in something new and this is the perfect pick up and put down game.

This time on Switch 2 with 60 FPS, 1440p upscaled to 4K, HDR on an OLED TV. It really looks gorgeous now.

Also, the smoother animation really makes the physics in the shrines pop. E.g. hitting a ball with an arrow into a hole has the perfect sound effect, animation and physics.

A wonderful game especially if you just take your time with it.

Beat Metroid Dread today. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to see what's next from the series, whenever that may be.

Really enjoyed that the final boss was so much more difficult than all the other bosses, great ending.

    Recent games…

Before I Go (a metroidvania that's more metroid than vania). Really loved it - manageable bosses, good map, some brilliant platforming and a lovely aesthetic overall. If you want a good 10-12 hour metroidvania, I really recommend this.

Constance. Some reviews say it takes about an hour to really click, and I agree with that. I nearly fell off early because I thought it was a bit bland. It really does get much much better, though. There is a clever mental health message through the whole game, told through little minigames after each major boss. Good one to add to your backlog!

I started Yooka-Replaylee yesterday and it's really really good. I bailed on the original game quite early, and the remaster is a huge improvement. Can't see myself collecting everything (there is a lot) but I'm having a lot of fun. Each of the main levels is a huge sandbox where you can go anywhere and explore. Brilliant.

My daughter and I went back and finished Hyrule Warriors; Age of Imprisonment in two player. Had gotten about halfway through and then drifted off to other things. It's not a bad game if you like the Dynasty Warriors model and we definitely had fun with it, but it doesn't have the same charm as Age of Calamity (for us anyway).

Kinda therapeutic though, after failing repeatedly to beat one boss in another game, to slaughter thousands of bokoblins instead…
