Hah, your post reminded me that I'd gotten distracted from the remaster a while back, so I started playing again - and guess what f*cking bit of it I had just arrived at 😅

Twighlight Princess. Had it playing ok before on Dolphin but playing perfect now

I was shocked at how much the GC and Wii U versions of that game are going for on eBay…

Ffs, here I was thinking the Omega Pirate was the biggest frustration - until I ended up back at the Furnace trying to do that stupid *@%$ing half-pipe jump up to the spiderball track. No idea wtf kind of physics are going on here but they can get in the bin.

In all honesty this is probably a good thing as it will serve to dampen my hype for MP4 back down to a more reasonable level - for some reason I keep forgetting that the 3D Metroids have, for my money, more Bull$#!~ parts than the earlier 2D ones (and I must admit I'm disappointed that Tedious Difficulty Spikes have been incorporated into Returns and Dread - particularly in the case of Dread I just CBA with that final boss, lots of showy pish but ultimately not even slightly fun after a while…).

The 3rd one handy, breezed through it.

The second one was amazing but way too hard!

I'm hoping for a proper remaster of the second and third Metroid Prime titles, rather than simply having them added to the Switch Online service.

Ports or remasters of 2 & 3 seemed to be guaranteed in the same way we're getting that Wind Waker/Twilight Princess combo any day now for the last 5 years. Granted, I scoff, but Mario 3D Allstars ended up being a real thing, so what do I even know?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,206 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

My naive assumption is that 2 would share at least some codebase with the first game, and therefore if the first remaster did well enough it would be an easy follow-up. I can see 3 being more work in its own right due to needing to re-do the control scheme, though.

(This thread has reminded me that despite having bought both Echoes on the Gamecube and the Trilogy collection on the Wii, I've never actually finished Echoes or Corruption. I should really get around to that…)

As much as I loved Super Mario Galaxy, they have yet to bring the second one to the Switch.
I suspect that we will get a Switch 2 Online Wii category before too long.
And, shovelware aside, there are masses of great titles for that console, both full releases and WiiWare titles.

I'm playing Mushroom Men at the moment. Very interesting 3D platformer. Very little hand-holding which is such a treat and a product of it's time.

Have had an urge to play Mario Galaxy 2 again recently and finally dug it out this evening for a while. It's truly a wonderful game and just hits the ground running with the platforming challenge.

I'm hesitant to go too far into it playing in SD as I'm sure we're either getting a remaster of it on Switch2 or as Ciderman says above, they'll bring it to a Wii NSO catalogue sooner than later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,578 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

They need to allow wiimotes and nunchucks to connect to Switch. Sensor bar could be powered by Switch USB. That's the way the Mario Galaxy games were designed to be played. Plus there are millions of them sitting idle around the place. The joycons don't match the speed or accuracy of this set up, and they are not as comfortable. MG2 is even more demanding as you've got to be able to control Yoshi too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,489 ✭✭✭WeleaseWoderick

Yeah, I'd agree that the lack of precision compared to the Wiimote is probably why they didn't include SMG2 on the 3D All Stars collection.

If Wii ends up on NSO, you'd have to assume they'd have replica original controllers for sale the same way they have for the other NSO consoles. Not sure how straight forward supporting the actual original Wiimotes and nunchucks would be though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,578 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

I'd say they could easily support the originals. They're Bluetooth devices. But they'll probably want to sell some limited replica things that don't quite work the same way instead.

Had enough of Metroid Prime Remastered after Meta Ridley stomped me down from 2/3 health with about 2 hits left. Absolutely 0% I will be beating my head against MP2 after this - I'm going to leave it a while and maybe try my hand at Corruption again since I never got very far into it, but my enthusiasm for MP4 has been suitably dampened 😞 ah well, I'll always have Fusion...

Ploughed through Ring fit adventure on Switch. It's helped me (along with changing diet and reducing the alcohol) go from 14 stone to 11 stone 11 and gone from 34 inch waist to 32, so I've definitely got use out of it. Lightest I've been since the late 90s!

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I bought Mario & Rabbids: Sparks of Hope digitally for €15 when the Switch 2 arrived. Finished it yesterday after 30 hours. Very enjoyable if you like that genre and a worthy sequel. Didn't overstay it's welcome.

The story and cutscenes are, of course, uninteresting and very skipable. The gameplay is solid however and has enough weapon/ability variety to keep things from going too stale. Recommended.

Breath of The Wild on Switch 2 (Switch 2 edition). I played it a bit on Switch but it never hooked me…… Hooked me now I can tell ya. Have sequel ready to go (Never played it) and then Persona 3-5 bundle….. That should all keep me going until Switch 3 comes out :)

Mario Odyssey on the Switch 2. Looks absolutely gorgeous and it's been so long since I played it on the original Switch that I can't remember anything and it's like a brand new game. Those Easter Island head fellas with the shades - brilliant!

I can see my self putting many many hours into Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time.

Played about 45 mins yesterday and I'm still in the starter area / tutorial phase. Looking forward to taking the training wheels off and exploring.

It has a lovely high resolution 60 FPS upgrade for Switch 2.

No word of a lie, I spent about 9/10 hrs in that first section alone - did all the quests for each of the available 12 lives before moving on from that area. It's so addictive. 😁 The devs have been on top of updates too, adding improvements aswell as fixes, the latest of which was 1.3.3 yesterday that adds the ability to adjust the camera.

    https://www.fantasylife.jp/fli/en/patchnote/ver_1_3_3/

Just an FYI that there is a setting to turn off the blurring around the edges of the screen - I held off on buying the Switch version until they added that setting in a patch.

I'm not very good at this. Have spent hours and think highest I got was Floor 26.

May just take a break and move on to something else.

Finished Breath of the Wild a while ago. That is to say that I defeated Ganon. It's only reading more about the game afterward that I realised how much stuff I missed.

But after nearly one hundred hours, I don't really want to play it anymore, anyway. It's a very good game, probably the best in the whole series but I can only take so much of a good thing.

On to Super Mario Odyssey. A top tier entry in the series without a doubt. The only thing is that I played through Mario Galaxy last Christmas and I really don't think another Mario game will ever, ever top that.

Yep, give yourself a good long break before TOTK. Also great.

Galaxy is good, real good. Better on the Wii with the wii controllers. 3D World is also up there for me.

    Master of the Universe

I bought the TOTK Switch 2 upgrade pack and fired up my 30 hour save from a year ago (when I gave up!) - the upgrade is really something, silky smooth visuals but it's still not clicking with me.

I think a large part of it is the chaotic overworld music. I put up with it in BOTW as there was so much new stuff going on but to play another less fresh game with the same annoying music seems to be rubbing me up the wrong way.

I'd happily pay for a download pack that inserted more traditional Zelda tunes and removed some of the chaotic jazz player banging on a piano type stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,578 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

I think you need to push through with the main story and max out one set of armour. There is one set that's easy to max out. Too much other stuff going on. Also there is also one kind of flower to get (sundelion or something like that) to really help with the end game boss fight.

I have a load of stuff still to do in TOTK ... I'll do it when I get a Switch 2 one day.

I didn't have any problem with the music/sound apart from the bloody same sound effect every time you open the map/etc screen. Really annoying after hours and hours. There should be options to turn on/off stuff like these.

I really liked the gentle piano sounds and flourishes when you're out in the open world. Maybe it's something else ?

Finally finished it last night after I figured out what direction to go with the chips. Did it again with a second palette then.

Not really getting any solo time with the Switch 2 these days but several evenings a week myself and the 8 yr old son will play a few matches of Mario Kart World - multiplayer Grand Prix and my god it’s incredible fun. It’s crazy how different each race can be. The AI racers are fairly naff at 100cc so it’s usually down to me and him battling for first and second. I needed to win the last race to tie with him overall - he was leading with me in second going into the last corner on the last lap - I lobbed my only item, a banana skin, right in front of him and stole the victory metres from the finish line. Absolute fluke it was but oh so glorious. 😂😂 He got me back in the next race ofc. Sometimes I think it’s a waste of money buying these games seeing as I get so little to play them myself, but having the craic with kids makes it worth every penny.

Actually, is there anyway to save a recording of a race does anyone know?

Don't sleep on the Shinobi Art of Vengeance demo in the eshop. It's a chunky length and plays very like Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. I'll be grabbing the full game as soon as it comes out. It's a metroidvania too.
