I still have wasps constantly trying to get in my window though. I saw a bumblebee yesterday too.

Saw only one wasp this year and no bees. Crazy. We always have plenty.

It'll be interesting when the Asian Hornets become established.

The rise in popularity of "beardy Irish man with raspy voice and acoustic guitar" singing about the hardships of nothing.

Hozier and his 100 clones are all i hear on irish radio.

The Gaga fanatic on the Chase. He got 6000 on the cash builder, took the low offer and got them all right. Then he only answered two questions at the end.

It's that time of year again:

early start tomorrow to go get covid booster number (?) and flu jab….I’m hoping it’s the practice nurse as opposed to my GP as I don’t see GP that often so a vaccination or visit for other purposes generally comes with a proper health check up and lifestyle enquiry thrown in…. Great he’s that diligent it really is but I’d prefer.. “ hi, sit down please, roll up your sleeve, there you go, drink water, don’t exercise for.. ciao ! “

new GP and she was lovely. waited 40 minutes for another new doc who went MIA, on seeing me still waiting I was invited by this other girl into her surgery on spec, all apologies and vaccines administered painlessly, 10 / 10.

On leaving her room we bumped into the doc who I’d been originally scheduled with who was incredibly impolite to her workmate, should have been thanking her and an apology to me for the long delay wouldn’t have been unreasonable but whatever.

TA is how you can educate and qualify someone in the complex field of medicine but they can’t get the most basics of human decency and respectfulness…horrid person.

Squaredish on Stephen's Green did similar recently - it was always a slice joint but pretty much overnight they took the slice option off their lunch menu for sit-ins - full pies only. But they still do slices to take away 🤷🤷🤷

Like, if you're making them anyway then why not just let people order them??? I tend to lunch solo, I'm not going to eat an entire deep-dish pizza.

New manager has apparently a name in the company for being a bully and misogynist. Wonderful. Rumour has it he punched a colleague in the face in his last office. Kudos to the public sector unions for continuing to protect scumbags like this and keep them in their jobs.

That used to throw me as an early teenage Dub visiting the cousins on the farm. Made the mistake once saying I wasn’t hungry! When told dinner was on.

I Expected “dinner” at 6 ish not 1ish. Never made that mistake again. I even missed the country “tea” the light salad maybe cake at 5 ish. Sure we didn’t have “tea” at home either. To me there was only breakfast, lunch (a sandwich etc), then dinner.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I'm currently working with a person who was moved to my section because they hurled abuse, and then spat, on a colleague.

That person and the colleague both went to the union about what happened, I'm sure they both feel hard done by, by the union.

    Usually around 20:30 for us.

No idea how people don't go to bed starving having dinner before around 17/18:00!

I don’t think it’s trivial, but many people apparently do: having to ask for the receipt at the checkout counter of a supermarket. It has evolved over the years from stupid customers waving the receipt away with a stupid laugh when it’s handed to them.

At the supermarket I shop at there are three kind of checkout people: those who hand you the receipt with your change, those who ask you if you want the receipt, and those who don’t give you a receipt at all unless you specifically ask for it.

I can’t understand how the store allows this. Customers should be told that they must take the receipt in case they need to return anything or, in case there is a mistake in their change. Then if they wish to throw it into the wastepaper basket on the way out the door, any consequences are on them.

The only time I ever had to use the receipt was when I discovered that, along with my change, I had also been given the note I had tendered for the groceries. Probably, I should have noticed it at the counter, but my mind, as usual, was on other things and I only realised it as I was going out the door.

I asked for the receipt in Dunnes one time and she fished one out of her bin . I didn't take it

If you tell people they have to take the receipt can you imagine how many would end up all over the street. We've enough litter as it is.

Working overtime for the week (one of the select few that always has to carry the slack of delivering extra duties it seems), and not getting any response whatsoever from the interim boss when requesting one day off next week. It's the day after the county final and would much rather have the safety blanket of the day off than ringing in sick that morning.

But he'd sooner have the cheek to try to pawn extra work onto me than actually address my request. I pride myself on my availability and durability but I'll go sick for two days now if I don't get one day off (other colleagues get days off willy-nilly).

    Just want proper communication.

Fireworks. My dogs don't actually mind them, thankfully, but the dog two doors down goes mental every time one goes off, and that sets my pair off.

Went to wash my mega dirty car in the local car wash. Cover it in bubbles and don the fuzzy mitten of cleanliness and scrub the car down nicely.

Now the hard work is done, I pick up the clean water lance and as soon as I activate it, a massive bang and plumes of black smoke come out of the machine, and the water instantly cuts off.

I went to tell the cashier in case it was a fire risk, (The black smoke had stopped fairly quickly) who said nothing to do with them as the car wash is outsourced, and drove off in a car that was covered in thick fuzzy white white smears.

I washed off the windscreen and side windows with bottled water so I could see, but ffs. Never have I more wished for some torrential rain.

As I'm driving there's little foamy pieces flying off when the wind catches them, it looks like I did a hit and run on the staypuft marshmallow man 😕
