Richie is retired, Paul Murphy was man of the match in quarter finals and is playing centre back and moving well.

Richie yes, Paul was man of the match in their quarter final win over Mooncoin.

Still no word on minor management which is unusual at this stage of the year? Minor and U16 Finals on in next 2 weeks. They've had plenty time at this stage.

I'm hearing different things and you never know what's accurate or not, but I'm not sure the options are fantastic. Few 'big' names approached but nobody biting is what I've heard. Would be disappointing to get an underwhelming announcement after the positivity of the U20 line up.

Would the CB not try an outside manager? At this stage, what would be wrong with giving a young coach with fresh ideas a go? Instead of a local "name"

Be hardly any worse than what we've seen the last while.

U21A fixtures on Kilkenny Gaa. The village Dunnamaggin and Gowran down to play the day before the intermediate county final. One would have to wonder is there a functioning brain cell anywhere in the KK CB.

Will there be any upsets in Intermediate Semi's....Hard to look past the Village, Gowran battlehardened but surely not good enough to beat Village. Dunna/Danesfort could be very close, Danesfort have plenty of experience in their ranks should be good enough. Lisdowney should be relishing the challenge v Graigue after the match v Clara. Dunno what's gone wrong with Ballycallan gone very one dimensional with Flynn at no.14, they're not hurling well even though they lost matches by the smallest margins. Lisdowney will feel they owe Graigue from 2 years ago so Lisdowney to win this one

This year's Kilkenny u16s have not pulled up any trees so there may not be a big long list of people clamouring for next year's minor job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 798 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

Dunnamaggin beating danesfort wouldn't be a shock. Danesfort half back line unlikely to get 7 pts from play again. Dunnamaggin backs are very tight and danesfort forwards wouldn't strike fear into many defences.

Could be right about lisdowney beating graiuge ballycallan. These heavier conditions won't be to the liking of the lighter skilful ballycallan players.

That's what I've heard too, it's a thankless enough job at the best of times. If the potential candidates have doubts about the quality of the players it'll always be hard to get a commitment. It's a great opportunity for a management team who are under the radar to make a name for themselves, if they can crack a few performances out a team that might have a point to prove to everyone.

Gordon Byrne from Erins Own is the new minor manager

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭KK36

The U21 fixtures are generally put in as teams are beaten at adult level. Any of those teams mentioned will be playing U21 next weekend if they are beaten at Intermediate this weekend.

Obvious final is Piltown v Boro but would be great to see Tullaroan and Ballycallan cause 2 shocks.County senior team needs some new talent breaking through.

I see ray boyne on the stats won’t be involved with kk seniors next year so there will be a new addition there going forward aswell

Gordon Byrne be announced as new manager in the coming week

Thats great news, he loved the limelight on social media. He should have copped the scoreline was wrong against Tipperary. Derek is obviously beefing up the back room team.

I expect 2 hard hitting semi finals which will finish up with a Ballyhale / O'Loughlins final this year with Ballyhale given the thumbs up after the form they showed V Thomastown.

Village to defeat Dunnamaggin in Intermediate final.

Piltown to defeat Boro in camogie final after another epic tussle.

New camogie manager also on the way!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭hogans heroes

    Ballyhale

    VVillage

    Boro to win camogie.

Rumours for a good few weeks that Camogie management were gone but nothing official.

I'm sure they'll rearrange the fixture of whatever team is in the intermidiate final.

Let's hope Derek shows the same balls to make the hard calls for the season ahead.

Senior relegation final ; lisdowney by 2 points.

    Intermidiate ; village Dunnamaggin final.

Junior 1/4s ; conahy ballyraggett game of the weekend, ballyragget have momentum, conahy solid if not spectacular so far. Conahy by a point.

Emeralds to bt barrow rangers, loughlins and kilmacow to complete the semi finalists

James Maher is supposed to be looking to take the job.

Not the best hurling game I've ever watched out at Freshford. The wind really dominated the game and it was always a question of who would make use of it best.

GBC were atrocious in the first half wasting so much ball but should also have got about 4 goals. Tallis kept Lisdowney in it with a great display of shot stopping. Everyone around felt that it was at least a 7 or 8 point wind so Lisdowney probably felt that they were in a good position at half time. They took some decent long range points and really restricted GBC space.

The second half was a great display by GBC who outscored lisdowney by 3-13 to 0-1. Billy Ryan (who scored two fantastic goals) and Billy O Neill the two best hurlers on the pitch, with Tom Dunphy, Richard keoghan the next best. For Lisdowney, in the first half Tallis was brilliant while Sweeney in midfield took some lovely points and Niall Brennan also held the centre very well. Eoin Kenny took his goal very well. There's not much to be said about their second half display.

Looking forward, GBC will wonder why they couldn't put in that second half performance all year, I think they're better than their league position suggested. Lisdowney were put in the tougher of the two groups and were always going to struggle to stay out of the bottom two but they should be very competitive in intermediate (assuming the village go up) and could come straight back up again. They showed enough in the Clara game and some other games that they are well able to get goals.

Big win for Ballyragget over Conahy, 1-16 v 1-12. Ballyragget building real momentum and certainly have the players to go all the way. Really looking forward to see how they progress from here

Decent choice if true, was an excellent underage county hurler and had plenty to say for himself when I played against him, in a funny way, could see him being successful with underage players
