Switching electric/gas providers (see first post for links)

Dear BWG Affinity member,

The CRU only recently finalised details of the electricity network cost changes approved by them which will be implemented by all Energy suppliers from October 1st 2025, to Sept 30th 2026.  Unfortunately, while the PSO charges are reducing, network charges are increasing this year and will impact your unit rates and standing charge from October 17th. While the “energy” element of your rate with us is fixed for 18 months the regulated network charges (non-energy) are variable and are adjusted annually in line with CRU approved changes. We have outlined the increases in the table below: 

The net impact of the changes above will mean a 5% increase in your overall unit rates for the remainder of your contract, which means an approx.  €4.60 per month increase (excluding VAT, based on CRU average annual usage of 4200 kWh’s). 

While we appreciate this is unwelcome news, please be assured that we have worked hard to minimise the impact of these increases and other costs of doing business on your affinity rate. The increase is less than the 7% increase applied to our variable customers in August and considerably less than the double-digit increases* of some other suppliers announced in recent weeks. This increase will be partially offset by the reduced PSO levy which is reducing by €1.29 per month from October 1st.
