    Then a cheap second hand reliable dumb unit that has feck all in it to go wrong fitted by a local sparks or DIY might be an alternative option.

    Are you running cables yourself?

    Yes, if other methods are not available the charger can be supplied from another distribution board that can be fed from a main MCB located in the contractor area at the bottom right of the meter box. Your REC should be able to advise better when pricing the job.

    The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

    FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

    You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

    Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

    Yes, but only as a last resort and some installers won't do it so ask installers in advance and get a few quotes.

    I was in to Fokearn yesterday for a quote. Can I ask what others on here were quoted by them for the Sync or Zappi Glo? My house is prewired for a charger and I was told there's a discount for this but not sure if it's actually been reflected in the quotes I got.

    dont they advertise fixed prices i know Gumbo has posted screen shots before, so it should be less than that, thought the sync has 999 or 900 post grant.

    Apparently 999 is untethered. 1100 is tethered.

    Reading the advice on here it recommends applying for the SEAI grant before you start any work on getting a charger installed. Looking at the application form it has a section to submit the EV charger details, do you have to have the charger already decided before you complete it or can you change after depending on quotes from various installers etc?

    Some installers do the grant application as well. But you can pick any brand of charger on initial application, it doesn't matter.

    New EV here and only charging for third time. Despite plenty of excess going to grid and Eddi already heated, the Zappi keeps stopping "master is lost", yellow triangle warning on Myenergy app. I have rebooted the Zappi three times now and back working but still a way to go to 80% battery.

    Best to call your installer back and say it's not working. You can also telephone myenergi during office hours when and the charger and they will try help over the phone.

    Thks, it behaved better later when I moved position of car. Also I rebooted the zappi a third or fourth when the cable was disconnected. Frustrating as have not driven much at present = need practice! First time I could not open the cable socket. Found out you need to 'unlock' the car first. Then could not get cable out of socket and found out you need to 'power off' before it will release. Even tho I had setting at 80% battery, it stopped at 73%…. more to puzzle over. That was 8 hrs over the day to achieve that.

    Car position won't matter at all for charging, sounds like a possible Zappi issue. Do you unwind the cable fully when charging? Apparently when it's left wound around the charger is can potentially cause connection problems.

    'Master is lost' is when Zappi and Eddi loose connection with each other, presumably they were installed correctly so if it continues get it sorted while still under warranty.

    The other things you'll get used too, the car manual should have exact details on charging procedures and there's probably loads of videos on YouTube for your model.

    Yes being lazy not to consult manual! I first turned off the Eddi but it did not like that so put it back on. Ideally I would like the Zappi to take first call on excess energy.

    These days on most plans it works out best to sell all your excess back to the grid and charge the car on cheap night rate, all depends on what plan you're on but if FIT is more that night rate it's cheaper that way.

    There's a thread about best electric plan for EVs somewhere in this forum.

    Does anyone happen to know how to open the fascia on an EO Mini Pro 3 / Hive EV charger? Or how do I move it, removing the fascia is presumably the first step in moving it.

    It doesn't unfortunately, but thank you. The only mention of the fascia in that is just attaching it. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove it that I can see

    What's the issue out of curiosity? You moving house and looking to bring it with you or is the cable too short?

    If it's the latter then getting a longer cable is a lot less hassle than moving EVSE and all the associated cabling. Obviously untethered is simple but even tethered can be made longer.

    Is it still under warranty? Any damage by DIYing might invalid it.
