Kill objection to the semi final result?

They kicked a free to equalise and one of their ‘’3 back’’players had slightly stepped over the line, Referee spoke to linesman and disallowed it, Kill had the match videoed from what I was told, so the objection is in..

I got that from a Kill clubman, might not be 100 percent accurate…

Them objecting to the semi final result and now holding up the conclusion of Division 3.

What Naughty said above is different than what I heard.

They were a point up and got a free in front of the goals. To waste time they brought the keeper up to kick it and as soon as he went over half way the linesman pulled them for only having 3 back. The ball was then brought in for a free and brought back out for 2 pointer which was kicked and they lost by one.

Which story is true I don't know.

So it's Munterconnaght not Mountnugent? Not sure on the ins and outs but if every game was recorded you could object on every call.

It may sound strange but I actually think sometimes their underage teams have it too easy. They compete at top levels because of sheer numbers.

That leads to a lack of resilience if you ask me. They certainly don’t seem to be able to see out a dogfight. Some people may not like me looking at it from that angle but it certainly can’t be said their players are short on footballing skill or talent so what else is it?

Fair play to Shercock. In a minor Division 1 Final last week and now promoted to Division 1. Good work going on up there off limited numbers.

Are Killygarry a bit like the County team develop nice facilities but a soft underbelly? They had another fundraising draw recently.

Yeah a good achievement for Shercock. Their neighbours Bailieborough had a solid League too, reaching semi final. It would be good to see them back in Division 1 sometime. Bit of a sleeping giant

    Well lads,

Ray Galligan just stepped down, Not surprised, been a fantastic servant to Cavan GAA, but unfortunately a change was needed….

Where to now, be interesting to see if it’s Internal or if they go for a big name outsider..

Big news, and with no disrespect to Ray, the timing is probably right. He rightly is citing family and work commitments but I guess this panel is going to need a significant rebuild over the winter and ideally the right management team (not a new one, it has to be a good recruitment) in place ASAP to start that rebuild.

He's been a fantastic servant and I genuinely wish him well.

There is something to work with in terms of young talent, with Crowe, Carolan, Lynch, Lovett, McEvoy etc and actually think good time to be looking because there are a lot of top quality candidates available for a change but a lot of counties unfortunately are looking too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,417 ✭✭✭rrs

It depens. If there is a lot of retirements would it appeal. Dessie Dolan stepped down in Westmeath because there was going to be a lot gone from the panel. O Toole went to Australia. Heslin and a few others retired.

McCabe took it on but it wasnt as attractive job as previous. Faulkner is one that wont be available. Maybe if it was a big name a few might hang on another year.

A big name 😂, not a hope of that. It will be someone from within the county or a outsider with very little experience, the County Board are not going to push the boat out on this when there is a big pot to be filled to rebuild breffni.

Best of luck to Ray. I am actually surprised by this and I suspect it probably means that a large number of the panel are thinking of stepping away. If that is the case there will likely be no high profile manager looking to come into Cavan. I hope we get someone who can work through what is going to be a very tricky transition period with the unrealistic expectations of Cavan fans breathing down your throat.

Love them to get Mickey Harte or Oisín McConville but no money for them,it will be interesting to see who we get

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,204 ✭✭✭cavan4sam

Not hugely surprised that Ray has stepped down

A fantastic servant to Cavan football

Best wishes for the future to him and his young family

Lots of Managers required countrywide now hopefully we take a sensible approach and not go throwing money at one of these poster boys doing the rounds

Would someone like Aaron Kernan or Oisin McConville be worth looking at?

Ger Brennan if he doesn't get the Dublin job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,417 ✭✭✭rrs

It woukd be pointless to leave Louth and take Cavan. 2 mid table Division 2 teams at best.

Yes to Aaron Kernan and Tony McEntee , not sure if they are staying on with Sligo. Have my doubts about McConville didnt stay to long in Wicklow . . Davy Burke ex Roscommon Manger is the man .

I believe there was a bit of internal dis-satisfaction among some prominent Louth players that led to him leaving and it just coincided with the Dublin vacancy. He is a disciplinarian.

Cavan fans are no worse than any other county, not as bad as some I’d wager.

One of Galligan’s coaching team left last year because he felt the rebuild needed to start. Members like Faulkner were asked to give it a year so I’d suspect a good few will retire. They’ve a lot of miles on the clock at this point.

Fair play to Ray. A great servant but I have been a critic of his time in management because I honestly didn’t understand appointing a novice coach when we had a talented bunch of lads on their last legs. Things had gone stale under Graham and a change of direction was needed - not someone from within the camp.

There are plenty of experienced Cavan managers about - Micheal McDermott, Seanie Smith. The issue will be players. Our U16s took a fair beating from Louth on Saturday. I know Louth are improving but they’re not usually a force to be reckoned with. The U15s were playing Donegal and I can’t find the result anywhere which isn’t a good sign either.

Would Michael McDermott still be interested. He was in for it previously, and would have been more suited as he had experience of managing. I think he's still over Celbridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

From what I recall he withdrew last time as he wasn’t happy with the process. I don’t think he was happy with the CB as apparently it was fairly clear from early on Galligan would get it.

This article backs that up saying he withdrew before interviews.

Former Clare boss Michael McDermott had been nominated for the position but he withdrew his name shortly before the interview process.

Great ET win for XLough over Gowna in Breffni last night. The champions were down a good few starters too. Ramor comfortable enough win over Cuchulainns last week. Makes for a very good league final and wet the appetite for championship.
