The Renault Uk Press Release for Megane E-Tech & Scenic improvements, orders from April, so likely for 252 reg's over here:https://www.press.renault.co.uk/releases/3265

facelifted brochure is finally out, but not 100% clear, what trims, come with what extras, the usual detailed trim listings are absent, looks like some nice improvements though:

Didn't realise the facelift versions weren't available to order in Ireland . I'm in NI and it's been available for all UK from the start of May if my memory is correct.

I've ordered a Mégane Esprit Alpine through a work scheme. Supposedly should be delivered late August/early September. Big changes, besides the new alloy wheel design, is less paint options (grey/grey/black) and electric front seats, with a massage function for the driver. One pedal mode with flappy padels. And the AC charging is updated to match the R5, reducing power to 11kW but adding V2L. Small change is a 5 mile bump to the official range.

If the photos are correct, the charge port has switched sides too. That would suit my charger layout at home better than the current passenger side.

Prices have actually decreased by €1500’ish, and the only feature dropped, seems to be 22kw ac, and a few features added, one pedal driving, v2l, larger screen is now standard, better looking materials used, and about 10km extra range

I wouldn't trust those photos, unlikely that the charge port would've been moved and very few of those photographs show the Irish model, most have small print explaining as much.

If our car is the same as the UK spec, and they usually are, the Techno also now has downgraded 18" wheels.

Yes, effectively the Equilibre trim is now called Techno. PR statement suggests what was the original Techno is now the base model, but that's only true in name

Does anyone know why sometimes when I start up the car I get a warning saying DC Charge Impossible?

It does not show up every time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 378 ✭✭tlaavtech

That came up for me only once when I plugged into a particular public charger when I was away from home and wanted a reassuring top-up. I assume there was something in the charger that it didn't like. Thankfully I made it home with enough range to spare. It disappeared the following day or maybe later the same day.

It is weird, have used DC charging once in the last 2 years but yet it still shows when turning the car on sometimes.

Sounds like some fault, have a service next week so will ask them to look.

Can you let us know what they tell you please?

Its funny - I'd actually be okay with Techno trim now having 18s.

I test drove the pre facelift last year on 20s and wasn't especially happy with the ride.

Found the R5 better on 18s.

So the dreaded "DC Charging Impossible" came back on the next time I tried to DC charge the car. I have tried multiple DC chargers but with no luck. Ended up AC charging for 30 minutes to get back home from Dublin last week. Was very thankful for 22kW charging that day! The error disappears after a couple hours of the car being powered off.

Car is booked in for a check next Friday. Service guy said he saw it once before but was related to not having the "My Renault" app installed in the phone. Not sure how that is related.

I have the car in for a rear wiper fix on Wednesday, will ask them about it as I see it from time to time and let you know.

I haven't used DC charging in nearly 2 years though so not sure if it would actually work !

Has anyone changed a tyre on a Megane E Tech themselves? I'm wondering what kind of jack I would need, and if I could get a space saver tyre or need a full size one.

You can just use a normal jack, there's nothing special needed to jack them up just jack it up in the right spot. You can get an aftermarket spare wheel kit, they are around €400

DC charge impossible is fixed they told me in the Renault garage.

He said it is somethingto do with a diode in an inverter and they have seen it with a bunch of them.

Will test on my Limerick trip next week.

Which garage was this? I'm bringing mine in on Friday and would like to be able to tell them which garage rather than "I read on the internet it was a diode!" PM if you prefer not to say. Thanks.

Hi I have ordered an megane electric esprit Alpine Iconic and have received the vin number from the dealer to track my order but the myrenault app is showing an error when I enter on the app, contacted the dealer and they also got the error on myrenault, but on their system they could see the status which says in production, does the car have to leave the production status before myrenault app picks it up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭dsandson

I've seen comments through the R5 Facebook group that the app isn't particularly useful even when it does show the progress. It often shows erroneous dates, which don't line up to what the dealer's systems show.

One or two have even said they've received their car while the app still says it's in production.

I understand the wish to have up to date information but to be honest you'd be better just occasionally ringing the dealer.

I have the same car on order in NI and have been told end of August / start of September. I'll give the lease company a shout at the end of this month for an update.

Good to hear. It's no fun to find out it doesn't work when you are far from home!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭dermotp

Dsandson thanks for your reply,I'm thinking your right in what you are saying about the myrenault app it is rubbish, the dealers receptionist who gave me a copy of what she was seeing on their system said she would contact me when ever she gets an alert on their system about the cars they have on orderm so I will rely on her for info, thanks again,

Megane went into the garage last week for the DC charging issue. Still no success after a week. So far they have, on instruction from Renault, done three different firmware updates on control systems. I passed on the 'diode' solution and Naas garage suggestion, so let's see if that changes anything. By the sounds of it, they just have to keep following Renault's repair suggestions as they are picking up the tab.

I hoped for an R5 as the replacement car but sadly got an Arkana instead 😥.
