do you have a VIN number allocated? I ordered mine on the 19th of May and have a delivery date of June, model 3 LR with standard gray. I have not been given a VIN number, how likely is it I’ll have it before July?

Yes i got a vin late may. I don't know how you have a delivery date without a vin. Are you sure it's not an estimate? I'm on my 3rd delivery estimate, it's been pushed out twice. So I wouldn't get my hopes up if all you have is an estimate.

I'm paid up too, thinking it would make it quicker.

Dublin port arrivals page. Tesla’s to Ireland are shipped from ZeeBrugge. You waiting on a Y or M3?

OK I thought maybe you were able to determine by Vin. How can you know if there are any Teslas on the boats coming in?

I was told about 2 weeks ago it was on the boat. The boats at the time were 48 hours away. So looks like I was lied to.

Waiting on a MY RWD LR. Everything else standard.

    More drama.

Me? I'm only asking questions. If there is a way to track my car I'd love to know.

lied to is a bit extreme :)

As discussed a page or so back, getting cars into the port car parks is only part of the journey. If Tesla have hundreds of arrivals for June/july (quite likely, they had 700 in June/July last year), it would take a few weeks just to transport and do the pre-delivery for them all.

Register for Tesla motor club, go to shipping news 2025 there’s a script if you put in your details it will give you an idea if it’s in transit and ETA of delivery.

Anyone interested in picking up lower priced STD Model Y RWD (Juniper) there are now many appearing in Inventory (10), for those in a position and willing to take by June 30th. Most likely cars matched to orders where customer wont accept preferring to defer for a 252 reg.

I may be looking in the wrong place but I don't see any discounts being offered for the cars in stock? 45,058 is the cash price of a grey rwd Juniper - in stock or on the boat.

Think they need to offer something there to sweeten the choice.

agreed and I imagine this might well happen as we get nearer to 30 June

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,069 ✭✭✭sk8board

you have to love the contempt Tesla have for their customers in fairness - they know that people are unlikely to cancel their Q3 order even if their June car is given away, because they’ll just string you along that your next car is on the way in Aug, Sept, Oct….

It’s the usual end-of-quarter mess, simply so that this trillion dollar entity can make its incredibly strict quarterly financial targets.

It’s also easily solved by having more stock in inventory, customers can then buy a Tesla when they want a Tesla.

Tesla is a lean machine and like to shift all the cars that they manufacture before their before cars is scrutinised. Market penalising them for carrying high inventory It is their business model and unlikely (in my view) to change

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭reaction238

That's exactly what they've done. They've loads in Inventory to buy when you want.

Those of us waiting for our orders are basically pre-orders. The assumption myself and others made, incorrectly it seems, was that we needed to pre-order.

Inventory has often looked pretty empty in January when most people want to buy a new car

Don't people buy new cars in Oct-Dec for delivery in Jan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 977 ✭✭✭JOL1

Thats overly simplistic and most likely misleading. Tesla are likely to be delivering hundreds of cars in Ireland in June and what you see now in Inventory are most likely cars that people ordered (paid a small deposit of 250) but for whatever reason have declined to take delivery of the car when offered by Tesla (the debate about holding for a 252 reg etc). These cars are then made available for sale for those who are both in a position and want to do so.

Towards every quarter end you will see cars suddenly appearing in Inventory, often with incentives linked to being able to collect car within days, all designed for Tesla to reflect sales /revenues in the relevant financial quarter and minimising any cars carried over to the next Q.

Not really, they pay a deposit in that time period.

Tesla’s model requires that their physical footprint is as small as possible.

you can see this at play in the US most recently - they have a lot of inventory of older 3’s, Y’s and apparently 10,000 unsold cybertrucks, and are having to rent huge amounts of space to park them all, gathering dust. Their model assumes that 99% of cars rolling off the line have a buyer, just like happens in Ireland - the number of cars in inventory is always tiny, and usually too expensive:unfavourable spec’s.

It’s like the old Ferrari line about how many cars is the ideal production number - “one car less than you have customers for”

Couple of years ago Model Y had some deep discounts, I recall it being 41k, 40k even (down from 50ks).

Can anyone recall what triggered that from Tesla's side?

If they offer a serious discount (or a serious trade in price for my Model 3), I could be tempted (although V2G, elmo, support.. hmmmm).

with just 10 days to go to sell, finance and deliver the car, it’s unlikely you’re going to hear about any deals at this stage I would say.

Also, it’s supply and demand - they don’t really have that much supply, as all the cars in the country have buyers for July and not as many for June, so it’s slim pickings. M3 inventory shows just 20 new cars, mostly LR’s, and maybe 40 ish Y’s

the deal you’d get is no wait-time

Are you mixing up RWD and LR?

From 13/1/2023 the basic LR price dropped to €53,890. I think he base RWD spec was €8k lower.

On 28/3/23 Tesla mistakenly applied end of quarter discounts (10%) to "coming soon" (actually on a boat somewhere) cars in Irish Inventory the same as they were doing in other European countries. A red LR with nice wheels was €53k.

Not sure how much the RWDs were dropped to. This was an infamous event known as "The Fire Sale". In the weeks after, Tesla hired their own Winston Wolfe to clean up the mess and cancel all these orders. There were 50 - 100 orders I think, many of them boardsies who had been alerted by fellow posters. 1 or 2 on here actually got their MY at the discounted price because it was really here and not on a boat. The CPCC followed up and investigated Tesla for the others.

There were also some discounts at the end of Q2 2023, but nothing like the fire sale. And the LRs were never low 40s, only the RWDs.

I was one of those who had my LR AWD order canceled. They didn't even offer an goodwill on cancelation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,417 ✭✭✭positron

Possibly. But I recall itching to order and the price was around 40k for base Model Y. Some passionate Tesla folks PM'd me how good a deal this is and that it's almost a steal at that price.

I thought inventory / need to show sales on the books / something else drive that sale - and I guess I am wondering if that will happen again given how anti-Elon sentiment has hurt the sales across Europe. I guess I will have to just wait and see.

It would be happening now if it was going to happen there is a week left, most of the cars showing in stock now are orders that people won't take for the sake of a few days to get a 252 plate so they will be gone shortly after 30 June I'd guess
