Mira 88 mixer leaking ..what alternative options?

I have the same mixer and found that it is also leaking. I'm going to get the service kit but wondering how did it work out for you and what did you use to take the brass nut off? Thanks

Thanks, I just finished doing it today. The brass nut was a pain as I didn't want to stress the connections. Did the same, wd40, hammer taps, hot water and took my time. That's the hardest part!

Apologies for reopening an old thread but I was amazed to read about the longevity of this Mira mixer shower when I'm dealing with the replacement of my third Triton Vitino mixer showers in 12 years (or more accurately replaces the original shower cartridge with a service kit followed by a complete new shower - as Triton no longer supply a service kit - and now 5 years later another new shower as temperature control valve has completely failed again and only supplies hot water).

I contacted Triton Ireland who have no interest as the Vitino is a UK model but they suggested a Dene model which similar but again they don't supply a service kit so essentially I could be looking a compete new shower again in 4 to 5 years. How do Triton get away with this when the likes of Mira will supply consumable parts for over 20 years?

Todate I restricted my search to replacement Triton models as I want to avoid any redecorating but maybe I should be looking at Mira concentric mixer showers with an identical or similar footprint and purchase a service kit to have as spare when the temperature control valve inevitable fails. Anyone have an experience on whether Mira supply a concentric mixer shower that is similar to a Dene Triton mixer shower?

We also have a Mira bar mixer shower in the least used shower room which will probably see me out but I don't want to replace the triton concentric shower with a bar model as it will leave unsightly holes in the tiles, which I don't want to replace.

I'll have a look at what models Mira supply to see if there are any of similar design to the Triton Vitino. I wouldn't mind so much having to replace the cartridges from time to time, what really grinds my gears is Triton not prepared to supply replacement cartridges for current models not to mind obsolete ones.
