This is leaking when fully open and dripping on bottom floor..
How can i remove and replace it ? Or tiles have to come off? Any good alternate mixers/fittings anyone can recommend? Thanks
I absolutely agree but unfortunately I've got myself into a bind if I want to replace like for like as I can't find any bricks and mortar crowd selling the vitino. However if the Dene model is a reasonably close replacement I've no problem buying that from Chadwicks etc so song as they can sell me a replacement cartridge at the same time. In fact I'm never buying a new shower again unless I can buy a least one replacement cartridge at the time of purchase
I'd suggest ignoring Screwfix & purchase from an Irish trade counter. Buying showers, pumps etc that Screwfix import usually means you have no warranty on the shower. Most quality mixer sets have a 5 year parts and labour warranty. Same with quality Salamander and Stuart Turner pumps. Buying through Screwfix quiet often means no Irish warranty. I have often been paid to remove a shower so homeowner can return it to Screwfix & then paid to fit the new or repaired one. Far better buying from Chadwicks, Heatmerchants etc.
They are discontinued everywhere. Triton don't supply them any longer. I think it was in 2016 or 17 I purchased the Vitino service kit from showerdoc when Triton Ireland explained to me that not all Triton branded showers are equal. However when I went back to Shower doc in 2021 I was told Triton have discontinued the kit. So I was forced to buy a new shower from Screwfix Dundalk.
Interesting that Triton Ireland guarantee parts for Irish supplied showers. However when I rang them yesterday they wouldn't commit to supplying a service kit for a current model Dene concentric shower when I advised I would be relucant to buy the shower unless they could also supply the service kit. Will go back to confirm one way or the other.

Triton not only supply cartridges for current "Irish" showers but they guarantee to stock them for at least 7 years after they discontinue a model. Your problem is you got caught out with Screwfix or B&Q. These import showers from the UK and bypass Triton Ireland. They also import showers not intended for the Irish market. As a result Triton Ireland don't stock parts for it. Why don't you source the cartridge in the UK. showerdoc.com are based in Scotland but they deliver to Ireland.
We also have a Mira bar mixer shower in the least used shower room which will probably see me out but I don't want to replace the triton concentric shower with a bar model as it will leave unsightly holes in the tiles, which I don't want to replace.
I'll have a look at what models Mira supply to see if there are any of similar design to the Triton Vitino. I wouldn't mind so much having to replace the cartridges from time to time, what really grinds my gears is Triton not prepared to supply replacement cartridges for current models not to mind obsolete ones.
I always suggest installing a bar mixer. They are universal size and you could replace it yourself when it's at the end of its life.
Mira are famous for their cartridge showers. The only thing is that many of their cartridges are now plastic rather than brass. Only time will tell if the plastic ones have a good lifespan. Personally I have my doubts
Apologies for reopening an old thread but I was amazed to read about the longevity of this Mira mixer shower when I'm dealing with the replacement of my third Triton Vitino mixer showers in 12 years (or more accurately replaces the original shower cartridge with a service kit followed by a complete new shower - as Triton no longer supply a service kit - and now 5 years later another new shower as temperature control valve has completely failed again and only supplies hot water).
I contacted Triton Ireland who have no interest as the Vitino is a UK model but they suggested a Dene model which similar but again they don't supply a service kit so essentially I could be looking a compete new shower again in 4 to 5 years. How do Triton get away with this when the likes of Mira will supply consumable parts for over 20 years?
Todate I restricted my search to replacement Triton models as I want to avoid any redecorating but maybe I should be looking at Mira concentric mixer showers with an identical or similar footprint and purchase a service kit to have as spare when the temperature control valve inevitable fails. Anyone have an experience on whether Mira supply a concentric mixer shower that is similar to a Dene Triton mixer shower?
Fitted 45 years ago, repaired last year. There was a family of 6 in the house..
If its seized the main parts have seized inside so u will have to service the inner parts
pls pls stop hot and cold water when u get to metal washer else u will have water everywhere !
For outside dial u just have to pull the knob outside use a screwdriver. U shud see then the inner mechanism.
This thread is very interesting as we've the same shower but it's like the water flow dial has siezed up and WD40 didn't help. Did you have to turn off the water to change that part in the center?
Thanks, I just finished doing it today. The brass nut was a pain as I didn't want to stress the connections. Did the same, wd40, hammer taps, hot water and took my time. That's the hardest part!
hey i fixed all three in the house all were leaking..i got a 55 mm plumbing spanner. Wd40 and hot water on the brass nut, tapping with hammer and it finally got loose. Remember to remove top exit pipe to shower-head before going full force as i broke one plastic pipe while twisting it.
Also i just changed the seals in other two(€2 eur rubber seals) and they stopped leaking. Did not order service kit
I have the same mixer and found that it is also leaking. I'm going to get the service kit but wondering how did it work out for you and what did you use to take the brass nut off? Thanks
okay thanks…i will try to extend the pipe..hotpress is behind the wall
Not quite. It's for joining two pieces of pipe together. You will need a small piece of pipe coming out the end then a nut and ring to attach to the shower in the wall.
Pretty difficult without breaking tiles. What is on the other side of the wall? Might be easier to cut out a square of plaster board on the other side of the wall. It would be easier to patch up the plasterboard than the tiles
thanks.. so the second part goes to end of pipe broken to extend it..and the first part goes to the mixer output?
First one is a compression fitting and second one a push in. Both would be easier than the crimp one you listed imo.

will this work??

unlucky😃…the pipe does not extend much…what do i need to add a straight connector and small pipe ? Any guidance or links will be really helpful..thanks
It's qualpex pipe. You will need to add a straight connector to add a small bit of pipe. Unless you are very lucky & the remaining pipe is long enough to reach the shower fitting
Anyone knows where to get this end of plastic pipe for shower outlet which broke.or i have to replace full pipe all the way to shower head? Dont want to remove tiles.thanks
i have the plates and cap…issue is the inner valve is not covered with anything to stop drips going into cavity
The problem with bathroom fitters is they usually don't use plumbers. You might find the tiler does all the work. Because they fit only the don't know what is a good shower and what isn't. It's the shower repair company that knows what showers fail quicker than others.
As I saw they most likely won't pay proper tradesmen to do the job but it's very important that they use a REC for all electric work in the bathroom. They need to have all of this work certed
I had to seriously convinced my bathroom fitters to use a Triton electric shower, they were pushing Mira all the way - do they have good installer incentives?
This is for a power shower with gas heated hot rather than full electric though.
As for a Mira 88, I used the service kit plus a replacement dial on the one I had before and it continued to work perfectly until I replaced the bathroom. 1998 to 2023. I'm fairly sure a new faceplate and dial to fit what the OP has (and cover the hole) are still available from Shower Doctor; I got mine from Modern Plant as they were still the supplier then.
Glad I did not give up ! Managed to change the seals and replace servicing parts using repair kit ! As good as brand new
What is best way to ensure i can put something around the head so water comes into shower if it leaks again in future rather than dripping down into the wall cavity?
managed to get it out after pouring hot boiling kettle and some wd40 .. installed in 1999 !!
thanks i have ordered the kit and plan to give it a go..else will replace whole unit..can i check how can i get rid of the white cap on top…I have tried hot water and some wiggle but no joy..
There are shower repair companies in Dublin that will replace the whole unit for under €500 parts and labour. Not only the inner parts but you get a brand new faceplate and dial. That's pretty good value considering you'd be looking at another 20 to 30 years lifespan.
Mira don't make good electric showers but they always made great quality cartridge showers, like the 88
thanks yes photo taken after removing everything(casing/panel). Do you think its worth the hassle to service (as per the page €470) or replace.. thanks
