    Beautiful again this morning in Dublin. I saw England had its driest March since 1961, it feels like it has barely rained in Dublin too.

    Fantastic picture Sryan! There was nothing but a wall of cloud on Saturday morning but I'm delighted to see a picture. Seems like any time we're expecting an eclipse, we see nothing!

    getting this amount of dry and sunny weather in the Spring always makes me feel a bit concerned about what lies ahead for the summer. The last great Spring we had was the covid Spring of 2020 and we all know how that summer turned out.

    True - but you just have to take what you can get in Ireland.

    At least we're getting nice weather in April when the days are longer and there's some strength in the sun. And coming out of winter, when a lot of us suffer from mild SAD, good weather in spring arguably makes people feel better than good weather in summer.

    There's been a huge amount of high pressure over Ireland since last October (even though a lot of it didn't lead to sunny conditions). I was afraid it wouldn't last even into late spring. So it's nice that it has - though obviously good weather in June and July would be amazing too.

    Some exceptional rainfall amounts for March 2025. Especially in the East and compared to 2023/2024. Most of the East's rain fell in the last week or so. Dunsany was the driest official station.

    Dublin Airport = 13.5mm (2024 = 115mm)

    Dunsany = 11.2mm (2024 = 93mm)

    Mount Dillon = 38mm (2024 = 142mm)

    Athenry = 33mm (2024 = 130mm)

    Malin Head = 34mm (2024 = 86mm)

    Oak Park = 21mm (2024 = 110mm)

    Valentia got 52mm which might seem highish but that compares to 239mm in both 2023 and 2024.

    Very enjoyable month. Winter seemed to end very abruptly. The temps were also a degree or more above average across Ireland.

    Mount Dillon 23c at 4pm is a great temperature for the start of April.

    Some really low humidity values out there. Finner reporting 27% at 5pm. I also note a dew point of -6 at Sligo airport at 4.30. Fantastic drying

    Sligo had the highest rain in the entire country. There was as week near the end with a couple of 15mm days so we finished on 71mm.

    Zero for April after 1 day. Yippee.

    I was just going to say this spring reminds me of Covid lockdown weather! Oh god was it a bad summer, I can't remember probably because we were not allowed go anywhere of do anything that summer!

    Theres a bit of cloud and light rain in the South Thursday on tonight's forecast. Where tf did that appear from? Think we might be OK up here. Amounts very small anyways.

    Friday morning the rest of that bitty rain will spread quickly away and back to sun from afternoon right through the weekend. Weekend a tad cooler 11c to 14c

    another beautiful day in sunny dublin. it's so unusual to experience this weather that it almost seems a bit weird and my brain can't process it. like another day of sun, in ireland? what are these clear blue skies? where's the perma grey cloud blanket? makes no sense! make the most of it anyway!

    There's a possibility Ireland will see its first 20C on Friday or even slight chance tomorrow locally. If it does, it will be one of the earliest this century so far. The 1991-2020 average for the first 20C in Ireland is April 23rd so it would be 3 weeks early.

    Only got up to 14c in Cobh on the 1st and the wind would cut you in half. Still, find a shaded area and enjoy the sun.

    Sunshine dawn to dusk here in Kerry. Got up to almost 17C here by the coast in the afternoon, slight cooling effect from the breeze at times but a great day.

    Light rain in the South tomorrow then everywhere Friday bar parts of Ulster. Then later Friday and into weekend Sunny and all next week.

    Sunny Easterly April mostly = damp cold Summer.

    Will this year be different?

    1984 had a great later half of April, good summer.

    1987 after snow on 2nd April, very good and warm mid month on. Poor to average summer.

    2003, great April, great summer.

    2007, great April, first in a run of bad summers until 2013. 2010 average to decent summer.
