what spec did you go for and did you trade in? I have heard that Porsche do very poor trade in deals.

I have an eye on one of these used for my next car.

I went for the basic model for the longer range added,

    • Upgraded wheels
    • Sliding pana roof
    • Purple metallic paint
    • Black gloss handles
    • Black gloss wing mirrors
    • Black gloss window rims
    • Blacked out the porsche logo on the rear
    • Debadged Macan branding
    • Off road kit - front and side rims in purple
    • Porsche electric sound

Also there is a built in spoiler. I thought that was only available for the turbo version so it was a nice surprise to find it in mine when going through the settings a week after I bought it :-)

I traded in a 212 range rover evoque. Got the same trade in price every garage( even non joe duffy) was offering me plus a decent discount off the Macan.i was happy enough with the deal tbh.

I was also looking at a Q5 hybrid sportsback. Macan worked out cheaper for me overall as I don't have to pay to charge my car.

    wow

Surprised you got a discount. I didn’t think it possible on a new Porsche.

Your car sounds lovely. What sort of range is achievable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

I'm getting about 450KM but battery still braking in. I have only charged it twice since I got it and range is increasing each time.

Porsche said I should be getting 500KM during the Summer and then during the Winter it will be less.

The only complaint I have is the screen tech. Had a couple of glitches where it has frozen on me. It reboots but when it does screen goes black for 5 seconds and I can't see the speedometer. Keeping an eye on it at the moment, hopefully a software update will sort it.

EVDatabase states 350 - 735km depending on which version. I’m assuming you don’t have the turbo or 4S version so I’ve ignored them.

Some good healthy figures there from a 95 kWh battery. The battery doesn’t really need any breaking in so I’d say the GOM will just start adjusting based on driving style but as with any EV, ignore this. Change it to % and use that as it’s more accurate over time.

Do you mind me asking what % discount you got off the build price? pm me if you don’t want to say publicly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,800 ✭✭✭carsfan2

Did they inflate the price of your evoque or specifically tell you they were giving you more discount separately?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

They matched the discount off the purchase price Audi were offering me on the Q5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

Thanks for this. I have the Porsche Macan Electric, I would be happy with those ranges in the winter.

your colour is Purple i presume thats Provence, nice but brave choice, Discount matched but what percentage.

Yes the provence. It's not as bright in person as it appears on the website, more subtle

do Porsche offer dealer financing at decent rates or pcp?

I normally buy car for cash but thinking that I will not do this again on an EV.

Thinking that a Macanese might have lower cost of ownership of can hold its value better than other ev’s or is that wishful thinking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

Yes they offer finance. I got mine on PCP, just need to put in a minimum 10% deposit. I put in 15%

Depreciation is a concern , especially after what happened with the Taycans. I will be keeping a close eye on second hand values.

I always put money aside each month towards the end balloon payment so i have the option to buy out right. That was the plan with the Evoque. However the car was a lemon with no warranty left so I got rid before something else major went on it and used some of the balloon payment I had saved as the Macan deposit.

what is the interest rate on pcp ?

There’s nothing I can see on the Porsche website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

Depends on finance option but PCP was 6.9%

    A battery breaking in?! Ok.

If your range is getting better it’s due to nearly April temperatures.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,800 ✭✭✭carsfan2

what’s your verdict on the macan Markn?

The one you drove is on sale for 88k now. Is it worth that ?

Is the premium over a Audi Q6 or even the likes of a BYD etc worth it?

That the Orange one carsfan? They have had that since October as I looked at it. They can't seem to shift it...must be the colour.I personally like the more unusual colours.I'd say you could get a good deal on it.

Unlikely any new Macan customers are going to consider opting for a BYD instead.

BYD Ireland sales guy on Tiktok gets a lot of premium brands traded in for new BYD’s, including Porsches

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,778 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Unless those Porsche’s are several years old it would want to be a cashback deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,800 ✭✭✭carsfan2

yeah that’s it. Has everything on it except Bose speakers that I would like but I assume the standard audio is ok?

I like the colour well enough to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,800 ✭✭✭carsfan2

I disagree. In the electric era I think premium badges don’t have the same appeal. The days of superior engineering from the German brands are gone so I would look at everything now. If a macan drove much better though that would appeal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,965 ✭✭✭User1998

I said something similar in the Taycan thread a few months ago and got slaughtered for it. And I said the same about the Macan too. It just seems so overpriced compared to what’s available on the market these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭Frankie19

Yes I have the standard audio and it's fine , tbh I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I mostly listen to podcasts when I am on my own in the car and if the kids are there it's APT on repeat.

The orange is even nicer in person than their pictures.

most people are shopping at a price point. What can I buy for €X.

The macan and byd are so far apart in that regard, it’s not like someone with €100k to spend on a well spec’ed macan is thinking jeez if I got the byd I’d be ‘saving’ €40-50k.

the generic car buyer doesn’t think like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,846 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

Last car I bought was macan priced, I am more likely to go for a BYD this time around because I don't fancy the same depreciation again and I don't see double the value in a macan over a sealion 7

There was also a bmw i4 m50 owner who sold it to buy a seal, it will be happening more and more.

I assume that you’re referring to the used e-Tron you got at a low trade price from a family member. You’d hardly have considered buying it new at €100K ? People that spend €100K on cars buy them for the badge/image or whatever. A sort of a treat/reward to yourself. It’s often company car funded rather than private cash. BYD have a bit to go yet in those stakes but of course they’re better value if you just need a decent car to get from A to B.

I think you’re confusing Cyrus with Buddybuds on here.
Lots of people buy expensive cars because they like cars and can afford to spend their own money on them.
