What a morning in North Ros up to 13c at half 10 and lots of sunshine, likely to be best weekend of the year so far☀️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,430 ✭✭✭pauldry

Sligo must of heard us. This is a glorious day. 13c so far and fairly unbroken sunshine. Forecast to get to 17c this weekend so this and one or 2 other weekends throughout the year are as good as it gets here. Maybe a 25c weekend in June sometimes and 20s in September but most of the rest cloudy or misty and windy of course.

However despite the poor weather on days like today Sligo is the nicest place in the world with its mountains and beaches and not busy like other Atlantic hotspots so you can get a bite to eat (usually) if your out.

So basically we get one sunny weekend every quarter.

Lovely dry Spring morning and so mild. The grass is starting to grow now.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I'm still battling away with downed trees from storm Eowyn. I've noticed a yellowing and drooping of ivy on trees. No harsh wind like 2013 to blame? Maybe Cluedo or Meteorite might have an explanation

Don't know Robwindstorm, maybe just a section of it got damaged, the leaves injured or dying off. I have a load of wood to cut myself tomorrow and one tree has to come down, I need to get a push on, I have a lot of younger willows about 10 yrs old that got partially toppled over too but I might leave them till the Autumn, been having a lot of new willow warblers and long tailed tits in the garden the last couple of years, hate taking away their environment.

Spring taking hold here in Kerry, lots of leaves coming out signs of growth everywhere. Been a great week and feeling very mild and bright now at 13C after an overcast and at times wet late morning/ early afternoon. Only thing feel sick after the rugby 😮‍💨😁

It didn't start off great yesterday, plenty of drizzle in NCD but it dried up beautiful and in the end it was so mild! Hours spent out and about in park.

The ice cream van was back out in force and sure we couldn't say no!

This morning is absolutely stunning, hope that sunshines stays around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,430 ✭✭✭pauldry

15.6c currently in Sligo surely 17c or even 18c is attainable on this warmest day of the month.

a mild day here in Meath but certainly not warm at 12C, however it's a beautiful sunny day so going to make the most of it before the cold digs back in tomorrow.

The garden centres in Meath be full today......and then they will have to put a blanket on the wee plants next week. Eek.

Fabulous clear skies. Warm run on the Greenway. Layers in the shade at same time when home.

    14⁰ Meath

Hazy sunny day in Bray. Stiff enough (chilly) breeze off the sea.

No idea Rob. Maybe those branches of ivy have lost their roots on the tree branch. I have a lot of mature ivy on my site, I rarely cut it back. I did hear that ivy thrives on trees that are weak. The birds love the flowering ivy berries. Especially blackbirds.

Class day in Galway. Absolutely lovely.

Great day today. Shame we are going back into a cold spell again.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 17,398 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

It shouldn't be as crap as the cool spell start of February, hopefully more in the way of sunshine this time and less of a windchill. Temperatures around 7 or 8C by day and if there is sun at this time of the year it could feel warmer than 7C.

Got a reading of 17.8C here in Kerry out by the coast, working in the garden in a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, git the grass cut too today, was walking around the side of the house about 19.30 and could feel the heat radiating off the gable. Cloud cleared as the day went on giving good levels of sunshine.

Beautiful day in Dublin today with temp reading 14.5 this afternoon. Bit of a wind chill down by the sea but lovely nevertheless . Hazy sunshine .

First day back out there after a long dose which really knocked me . Am thankful for Spring even if it is a bit nippier this week. Just please not that grey damp cold we have had this last while .

    Happy Spring, everyone !

What a perfect weekend of spring weather!

Yesterday was dull but so mild, today was an absolute stunner🤩. I actually had to carry my coat for a good bit of the day, although I was grateful for it in Howth as there was a nippy wind chill but in sheltered sunshine it was perfect.

The only downside was the place was packed, how dare everyone have the same idea and head for the sea!
