    Covid weather

Was sunny but cold that March-April

The average April max temp in Ireland is 13º. The average May max is just under 15º.

There's still plenty of time for chilly weather. Not trying to be negative but people need to temper their expectations.

Anyway, we've had a great run of dry and sunny weather - even if a tad cool at times. Couldn't ask for more.

Hopefully we get another nice bout around late May and June when it'll feel even better.

Fantastic day here in Kerry and good sunny spells for most by the looks of it. My temp readings on the blink but definitely over 16C. What a difference in a day, cold Windchill yesterday and short sleeve shirt today.

More widespread warmth tomorrow getting up to and maybe slightly over 17C in places and best temperatures again in the Western half of the country.

Beautiful sunset and I'd say it will be a clear starry night.

As is usually the way with these early spring spells, there was a cool sea breeze keeping temps down here in coastal East Cork. Bit of a haze in the air too. Still lovely and bright and dry for March though so no complaints.

Unreal spell of weather even if very chilly most days here in Dublin, just hope we're not using up too much of our meagre annual sunshine quota too early, we all know that once the Atlantic wakes up it tends not to settle for months

Another lovely Spring day. Warm in the sun too. I think this is the end of the fine dry weather but it was great while it lasted. The grass is definitely having a spurt lately too. More work! The birds are very busy too - no harm for them to get a settled period after the storm ruined a lot of trees.

@Robwindstorm I decided to cut up some mature Elder that had fallen. It's awful wet wood inside. Ended up chopping it into kippeens to ensure it dries quicker. Interested to see how it burns after a year or so.

Cloudy enough in Sligo. Some sun peeking through clouds. Can see on satellite there is a cloud in the shape of Co Sligo and some more in Cork. Nice and sunny everywhere else though. 12c here it's 16c in Casement and the SW.

Beautiful day in Galway City, warm easterly breeze and sunshine with just a few hazy clouds around.

    17°c Kerry Airport at midday.

But of course the weather is to break when I've a load of concrete to be mixed and poured. Tomorrow and Saturday looking wet right through, this seems to happen me all the time as soon as I line up a job the weather lets me down!

Here's some of mine that's cut a month now, already starting to season with the sun. I'd say leave it in a pile outside over the summer and then into the shed for another year.

Mine is a bit maturer than yours and has a bit of rot in the middle. I thought it was ash at first. I have other elder that looks different on the bark - also more bushy and fragile wood. I prob won't bother with that stuff. This is what I am cutting.

Been a great spell of weather tidying up after the storm, like Robwindstorm and Cluedo I am still cutting up wood, not as mature as Robs but plenty of it and the shredder is flying, busy last Mon but haven't had a chance since, great having dry ground underfoot anyway, should get a few hours again over the weekend.

Incredible rainfall stats on 21st March.

Athenry has 7mm. It got 130mm for March last year.

Dublin Airport has been stuck on 3.5mm for ages.

I was expecting today to be fairly wet but it's bone dry here in Meath, seems we have avoided the rain possibly due to the Wicklow Mountains with a SE wind shielding us from any rain. Not going to complain as I don't care if I see rain again until November.

just 1.2mm recorded in Arklow but by the looks of the radar,a very wet evening is approaching

I suspect you might see more rain this year in Dunsany that during 2024 which was a very dry year for you. Your last 10 months have been below average rainfall and often well below (50-60%). And only 5mm in the last 3 weeks which is impressive.

    2024 Rainfall = 693mm.

    2023 Rainfall = 1048mm

    Average = 880mm
