€250 for the 255 in decathlon is a super deal; the 265 is nearly double and rarely on sale

That's the non-music model btw. €299 for the 255 Music is a decent deal by the looks of it so.

Anyone recommend Fenix 7 for adventure racing? Looking for something that the gps can last up to 7 hours. Need music too but not for 7 hours. Currently seeing this on very and Bikeinn for close to €400.

Currently have Vivoactive 4 music and looking to upgrade without breaking the bank

I have a Fenix 7 and wondering if anyone else attempts to track daily calories on it. Workout wise it seems to be accurate but daily appears pessimistically low.

I do about 10-15k steps a day at work and physical efforts in my role (mechanic) yet most days it reckons my combined calorie is about 2200. This seems low. (Mid 40’s bloke ~ 70kg)

GPS watches would be illegal for proper adventure races, since they are navigation events. But for multisports races like Quest or Gaelforece then it will be more than able to handle them.

is there a way to delete the auto-detected Threshold pace? I can change the hr but not the pace.

Somehow it detected a crazy fast (totally incorrect) pace on a session a month ago, and now it no longer thinks I run any high-aerobic runs and is recording everything as low aerobic/easy, even when I do a hard tempo.

It’s more of a pain than a problem, as the watch thinks I no longer do sessions 🙄

Garmin forums at the moment 😁, thankfully didn't effect me this morning

This happened to me this evening. First, thought it was a low battery message first as I only have the watch since Christmas. So, I googled it then and was surprised to find an article published today on forbes.com of all places.

Haven't figured out how to reset it yet … Strange that it just happened everywhere today. You would wonder is it a time related GPS software bug.

looking at all the folks with problems on my club Strava today, they all seemed to have newer watches, but it might be a coincidence. I had no issues

I rebooted it and okay since,, took a few attempts to pair with the phone alright but going again

Happened to me yesterday. Looked like the problem was a faulty GPS.bin file that Garmin pushed out to many watches yesterday. Hard rebooting and a resync after about 5pm looked like it sorted it.

Took me a while to do it, as it isn't that clear how to actually power the watch off outside of the watch menus themselves, but when I restarted I seem to be up and running again. It's a FR 165 music. Great watch otherwise. Really happy with it.

    Garmin Fr. 55.

Can it auto delete an activity after the activity has been downloaded via Connect?

    Cheers.

Not that I'm aware of, manual deletes only. Probably a good thing too.

has anyone else signed up for the Beta software a few months ago, and now your watch has auto-detected the most ridiculous Lactate Threshold that it means the race predictor and everything else is miles off reality? It’s also been saying I’m ’productive’ for months now, simply because every run I do is so much slower than my LT it thinks I’m not even trying when actually I might be flat out 🙄😀 - another side effect of that, is that it almost never records any high-aerobic load, everything is low aerobic.

e.g it detected an LT pace of 4:00/km when the reality is about 20sec slower - and it detected it on an interval session.

The LT can’t be deleted it seems, and the s/w can’t be rolled back to non-beta.

The non-beta s/w has a LT Guided Test, which is removed on the beta because it thinks the auto-detection works better!

Anyway, rant over, but I can’t be the only one :)

You could factory reset your watch, bit drastic but it might return some reality to your training metrics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,996 ✭✭✭sk8board

I did that, but unfortunately it doesn’t delete the LT recorded, and it can’t be deleted manually - it’s such a bug.

On the plus side, I’m ‘productive’ for nearly 2 months solid now, and can run a 2:52 marathon, improving daily 😀. I might just be 20mins slower than that in tip top condition.

I might try contact Garmin and see if they can do it, but I doubt they willingly sccess individuals data.
