That's what i'm trying to understand

How does the illegal stuff affect the legal business

Does it continually drag the price down or is there an equilibrium reached

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,559 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

You're being pedantic for the sake of being contrary.

Pointing out false claims is not pedantic, or it use not be back when facts had some currency.

To be honest I am probably one of the keenest pirates on here and have been for decades. But lets not kid ourselves we are not paying sky/tnt/premier prices because God forbid we miss the very Odd United match that is on 3pm on a Saturday. Better for our health the more we the miss at the moment.

We are not paying Sky because we can illegally obtain the product elsewhere at a fraction of the price.

If Sky and the rest were to obtain an Optus type deal, their prices would have to go up, but again we still wouldn't pay it, would we? The new deal with show 272 matches not including Premier Sports.

Worth pointing out too that Optus pays peanuts compared to what UK based broadcasters have to pay for football rights.

About £50m a year for all 380 premier league matches.

Of course its cheap, that's my whole point. I'm talking about the costs of doing business. What is Sky's margin if they are charging you €20 a month to watch sports. Is it €5? Is it less given all the costs, and then they pay tax on the profits.

Whereas IPTV based out of some warehouse in Iraq charging you €50 a year. What their profit? €49?

They pay that because they are based in Australia, matches are on in the middle of the night and really nobody gives a damn about the premier league there.

But will the TV companies be so bullish about the next football TV deal if they see themselves haemorrhaging subscribers and their predictions are that they can do little about it only play catch-up all the time?

The next deal until 2029 is already signed and starting in August.

270 games, up from 200, all Sunday games being broadcast.

Just Sky and TNT winning bids, no Amazon or anyone else.

EPL insulated themselves a bit from a lower value sale by making it a longer deal with more games but in less packages.

More money overall, but less per game.

It will probably be the last with the 3pm blackout also.

over 5 gameweeks there are 22 matches at 15:00 and paying an extortionate subscription for SKY/TNT/Premier Sports you can watch a total of 5 matches.

This was not a false claim at all, from GW22-GW26 there are 22 matches at 15:00 and 5 will be on Irish tv. It is a fact.

I am new to "paid" illegal IPTV streaming even though I have been using free streams for almost 20 years.

I'm unaware of any free streams for the past 20 years. Some God awful ones on some apps and on certain websites, but absolutely riddled with popup and about as reliable as a chocolate fire guard.

How were you obtaining these free legal streams?

The art of unencrypted feed hunting is still on the go, not as prevalent as once was though.

Both my friend and I send messages to the supplier on Sunday enquiring about the problem, but neither of us received any reply, so much for this much vaunted customer service.

TBF that comes down to the individual supplier. If your friend recommended it, that's on him.

The ones I use put Sky's customer service to shame. Any customer service to shame really.

But to to most end users they just want a solution that works, they don't want to be investing in more hardware or software, and many are not that up to speed or interested in the latest tech, many find it difficult to understand.

Most end users want a solution that is cheap first and foremost.

The options for the technically remedial are Sky and Now TV, etc.

That said the learning curve for IPTV is hardly steep.

The vast majority of people accept the service will not be up 100% of time, if you can't do that, not for you.

The key is have multiple options.

    I never suggested otherwise.

Your initial claim which I responded to was Zero would be on "Irish TV".

The 3pm blackout means there could be 4/5 matches being played in the premier league and we can't watch any of them due to a draconian law.

    Accept it and move on.

I edited the post to say the majority of them, milk must have been off in your tea this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,559 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

    Good for you.

Again it doesn't negate the fact the post I replied to at the time made false claims.

Why you are getting upset over it I have no idea.

    It happens everyone, move on.

How were you obtaining these free legal streams?

I never said there was free legal streams, just free streams.

Back in the day TV Ants and myp2p.eu where very good.

These days I still use Kodi with streaming add-ons on a Linux laptop plugged into the TV.

Worked great for a few hours watching the NFL last Sunday when the dodgy box was down.

Not as reliable or as user friendly as a paid illegal stream, but still an option.

Anything 100% free has not been worth the effort for me. Unreliable, ad riddled or go offline and new streams have to be searched for. Other options not free but cheaper than IPTV can be an improvement but still not been worth it for me. Then you have people that go for Now TV. Depends on the individual. Its hard to beat everything instantly available in 1 app + a good UI with an IPTV sub.

Edit after post above: I do keep kodi + addons on my box for the rare occasion something cant be got on IPTV. Thats maybe a few times a year max.

feck sake, myp2p, blast from the past, was feckin great!

think i used myp2p on kodi years ago, would that be right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,559 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

I never said there was free legal streams, just free streams.

I read it like you had stumbled on some way to obtain free legal streams.

    My Bad.

These days I still use Kodi with streaming add-ons on a Linux laptop plugged into the TV

Oh good lord, it's an absolute horror show.

You must have some shít IPTV service, if you have the patience to put with Kodi and the likes.

You can download daily M3U links that would infinitely more stable for free and play it through VLC.

Again because you're being pedantic just to be contrary, as above you started talking about TNT and GW21 in response to me talking about lack of 15:00 kick offs between GW22-26.

Not once was GW 21 mentioned it but you felt the need to respond to my post about evening matches on TNT which had 0 relevance to the point I was making.

The 3pm blackout while not a law in this country does affect us as shown by the lack of choice and few matches shown.

Anyway this has taken the topic way off course and is tedious for everyone else to read.

Well no, you conveniently left out GW21 in response to. Why would you do that?

Looking at the fixtures for the rest of the month the vast majority are not on the traditional Saturday 3pm time.

Now this is just getting silly and I bet no one is enjoying it, especially me.

    So we will move on.

UK soccer can be got easy 100% working reliably

Im not that big into it it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,488 ✭✭✭jj880

It must be something Ive not heard of then which is fair enough.

Can it be played on a large TV from a fire stick / tv box without having to cable a PC / laptop?

Can it be easily accessed with a remote control in a few clicks?

Can it be setup once and not have to be constantly updated / new streams searched for?

Is there a mobile phone app that can also run it?

    Is it 4k + HDR?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 129 ✭✭mikehammer..

Yep and there's no buffering 3/4 clicks and game on

…we ll give you some jellies if yea tell us!

    I'll call BS on this.

It's easy to post about something like that knowing that you'll never have to prove it because it's against the rules to name services.

Plus this idea that not naming it because of you did another million would join, give me a break, boards.ie only has about 10 users at this stage.

If you are for real PM me the details and I'll verify it.

That last line gave me a good laugh! 🤣

@mikehammer.. include me on that PM. 2 sets of eyes are better than one. You know it makes sense!

    Brilliant. 😁

Bit suspicious you called it UK soccer, but I'll play.

I'm guessing shared EU provider logins.

I think the the popular ones now is either Estonian or Lithuanian or both.

Because of EU law stating subscriptions cannot be geo blocked within the EU a VPN isn't required.

    So none of that faff.
