I see RealDebrid and other debrid services got an anti piracy notice and have really clamped down on file access of pirated movies and tv shows, thats another nail.

Going after the panel providers is probably the best strategy as its whack a mole taking down resellers. My IPTV provider was on NXT panel and now gone back to the old one that can't handle the numbers at all resulting in a less reliable and stripped down service.

I'd love to know the network topology of these services, out of curiosity.

There are hundreds of thousands of resellers out there but how many entities are actually publishing streams, and what sort of infrastructure they have.

Or is it a bit like BitTorrent where a lot of people are supplying small bits.

There are thousands of channels on these services, are all those channels from RTE 1 to the Iraqi equivalent of RTE 1 coming from the same location?

    What is a panel provider?

We were told that we would need to pay an extra €20 a year to "improve security"

Its the reseller panel, its manages the playlists (which are the streaming sources), users, control of the IPTV server. Its doesnt actually host any streaming content but its vital.

My previous provider basically had all sports channels blocked during any PL game. Other times, it would work fine.

The provider said that it was Virgin Media themselves blocking it through their Wi-Fi, which would tally up as when I used a VPN, or used their app on my phone through mobile data, the channels worked fine.

Did not know that they no longer did blind auction against each other but that logic makes sense.

But overall, if less people are willing to pay the extortionate price which the TV providers are charging and turn to the alternative options then before they know it they won't have enough financial clout to continue to pay for these rights.

It only took 6 months for the Roman empire to collapse and football could be on the edge of being the latest domino to fall if the move to cheaper subscriptions continues and they don't find a way to combat it, which they are really struggling to do at the moment.

Problem you have for broadcasters is that Linear (live) tv viewership has fallen off a cliff. The one area that is holding up is live sport, hence why Sky etc still paid such huge money for the next batch of rights. Therefore they can charge more for ad space. E.g if you look at a lot of the big tv shows now on Sky like say House of the Dragon or that, 95% of all views are done on demand i.e not live.

Where would one find a decent local one... Plenty foreign ones but not great for local channels...

I've trialled loads of services and they have all had the UK & Irish channels amongst the dross.

with rte player and virgin media player - the irishs are not as important for everyone

RTE Player, the most unstable service I've ever tried. I'd prefer to try rabbit ears on the TV than rely on that.

There is a podcast on this thread that discusses the relationship between soccer and the pub in the UK and pubs showing 3pm games illegally.

It's sequel to a podcast about illegal streaming.

They come to the conclusion that illegal streaming is not that big a deal to the broadcasters.

There was a rights auction in the last year.

If illegal IPTV streaming was an issue for the broadcasters they would have come in with much lower offers for the packages, but they didn't.

The EPL themselves did make some relatively minor changes to the packages to in some way counteract illegal IPTV streaming.

They reduced the number of packages and extended the duration, thus making it harder for the likes of Amazon who bought a very small package previously.

They increased the amount of game allowed to be shown, which included allowing all Sunday games to be broadcast.

The effect of this will reduce the number of 3pm Saturday games. The upcoming deal allows for 270 games to be broadcast, thus only 110 will not be shown, therefore those 110 will be 3pm Saturday games, the lowest number ever.

Applications like Now TV also help, it much cheaper, portable and contract free compared to a satellite version of Sky Sports.

I've been predicting the end of the EPL bubble for years but I have now given up.

If it does collapse all the fanboys who spent decades giving out and Sky will now be wondering why they can't see their team on tv anymore and why are all the good players going to other places and why are their teams doing rubbish in Europe.

    Same as that.

Just get a second sub from a seperate supplier. I have 2,both are working fine tonight but I've never had a situation where both were down at the same time.

It's seems the posters who said that IPTV was unstoppable and the providers would never find a way to block it are being proven wrong.

They don't need to stop it entirely just make it unusable and/or too expensive for the average Joe saop who won't want to pay extra for the security or use VPNs which aren't any use against panel DDOS attacks.

It always amazes me why people come onto threads just to gloat about something. A handful of people had issues the past week and that's it, we all might as well just sign up to sky and admit defeat. 🙄

But OK for people to attack me when I was stating facts earlier in the thread.

Not 1 buffered / blocked stream since signing up for Windscribe. Been watching most of the big matches recently. I dont think anyone expects perfect service for the sub prices being paid. Would be interesting to see a poll on how many still willing to renew their sub...

This is only the start of it now they found a weakness.

Cardsharing was blocked slowly channel by channel.

Go back and read the thread.

It is not going to be represenive of every iptv user because everyone has some technical knowledge because they made it this far and registered. I am on about the guys who just order the cheap pre setup firestick. No technical knowledge there.
