I'd be interested to hear how your first encounter with Reed went…did you turn around to face him or stay front and centre? :)

I'm fairly sure i tried to look around but the camera would only go to the side. Then when i could spin it around, he was gone.

Straight after though, i headed into the basketball court and was beaming to find that not only could i interact with the ball, i could skill check to make a shot 😁

So, Mr. There are no more updates is releasing another update. Tomorrow marks the 4th anniversary of the game and they will be having a dev stream talking about 2.2. it won't have NG+ or PS5 Pro updates but will have other 'cool' stuff. I wonder what they're planning.

With this patch you’ll be able to express yourself like never before — it includes over 100 new customization options for V, adds CrystalCoat™ compatibility for select vehicle brands, introduces a brand-new TWINTONE™ color scheme feature for CrystalCoat™-compatible vehicles, and more! Photo Mode also received a major overhaul with new camera options, aspect ratios, light sources and posable NPCs, just to name a few things!

Nice to see a new update but I'm currently coming to the end of my current play through of the game, so won't be able to enjoy the new features until the next time a I play it sometime down the line.

Did it ever become good on the PS4? I know that version got particularly bad criticism when it first came off due to its performance so never bothered picking it up as don’t have a PS5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,342 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

No idea for PS4 but PS5 is much improved since launch. I remember i couldn't go 30 minutes without creasing to xmb on launch, now i can't remember the last time i saw a bug.

Speaking of, I had started Phantom Liberty but took a break but didn't go back in ages finally played again last night and I'm up to the sky scraper infiltration, feels so **** cool!

Top to bottom, You Know My Name mission was class. That Lizzie performance was unreal, had to get front row and watch the whole thing.

The new custom paint jobs are a nice touch, got an Edge Runners theme going on..

I was not expecting this to turn into Alien Isolation game 😮 think I'm nearing the end of the expansion missions, absolutely incredible. I'm already referring the first major choice i had but have a save point to go back and try the other way.

Finished Phantom Liberty, Jesus, just incredible. I got the King of Cups ending and absolute emotional gut punch. I looked up other endings and there's only 1 other one I'd like to experience but i really like the fact how they are all flawed yet really impactful, shows the strength of the writing for an the new characters.

Now, back to Embers to go for the ending with Johnny as I have 85% sync with him so should get that secret ending option.

Just finished it, don't fear the reaper ending, what an epic final mission that was, then to the apartment that looks or is the same as David's in Edgerunners, and then outta this world. Just absolutely incredible. I actually feel like starting a new play through as a corpo but will give it some time.

I stayed friendly with Johnny all the way through this play through and i feel it made the story so much better. He became much less of an asshole, was funny a lot of the times and had my back in a lot of quests.

Damn, didn't think the 2nd play through would differ too much but between patch 2.1 and Phantom Liberty, it did actually feel like a different game.

About 10 hours in at this point, further than where I would have gotten previously. Enjoying it a good bit more, I think because I'm trying to be less computer hacky and more body hacky, though computer hacking is still a vital part of the game with regards cameras, turrets etc, so I'll probably have to start throwing a few points into it soon.

Still some parts I'm not really liking; a lot of things still poorly explained and I think I've gotten to where I am through my previous failed attempts at getting into the game. Plus the car combat is just annoying, especially when you're just driving and a gang starts attacking you. I either just try to lose them or get out of the car. Also not a fan of how often people text/ring you. I spent what felt like a minute waiting on some dude's 7 or 8 texts to come through because there was so much superfluous writing and details in it. I get it's world and character building, but just a bit overdone.

Still though, going to see this playthrough through, and have downloaded the DLC too so will check out when's best to do it.

Yeah i relied on hacking purely to disable cameras. Sandevistan (sp) is the cyberware that makes you invisible, might suit you instead if you want to keep an eye out for it.

I was tempted on full hacking build on next playthrough but I'm finding hard moving on to other games so i made the right decision to uninstall and come back to it another time.

Also, personal preference, but i find the the missions much more enjoyable when i agree (mostly) with Johnny. Becomes much less annoying in quests and comes out with good ideas about the current mission. Also, when you get a chance to give him full control of your body for a mission, do it, it's mental 😂

Edit: sandy actually makes you slow time so you can dash around slicing up a group of enemies before they know what's even happening but you can't use any hacking tools with it. The invisibility cloak is an item you can equip like a grenade.

Okay yeah, I'm deeeeeeeeeeeeeep into Cyberpunk at this stage. Still some things I'm not fond of, but damn when it gets it's hooks into you they go in deep. Got the main game to a certain stage and have just done the first few hours of Phantom Liberty, which is an incredible spectacle.

The game is also stunningly gorgeous at times.

Kinda glad of the sh*tty weather, because it meant I could stay by the fire and play CP2077 most of the day.

I hope whoever came up with idea of creating a gig based on this story got all the eddies.

Just bought this now with the intention to start once I've finished up GT7. Haven't played it before, so any advice to a total newbie before I dive in?

    Do all side missions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,342 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Don't get caught up on ncpd scanner jobs. Complete gigs as you come across them (when you get near them on the map, you'll get a call about a job), you can come back to them later and even leave them for end game but they are quick fun missions, help level up and unlock rewards for clearing a set belonging to a specific fixer.

Other than that, just let yourself soak into the game and the city. The prologue will take you through the basics. Enjoy!

It is very much a game to just immerse yourself in. If you've the patience, try not to fast travel a lot, explore a bit when the mood takes you.

I'm honestly tempted to reinstall it for playthrough # … 4 I think.

Don't worry too much about what origin or attributes to pick at the start. The origin mostly just throws up different dialogue options during the game with different characters. As for the attributes, after the short prologue you can do training exercises for both hacking and combat, so you'll have a better idea what you want to specialise in after that. You can do a full respec later if you want. Generally though, if you want to do cool hacking stuff (to the point of being able to hack enemies to shoot themselves, have cars run them over etc), spec into Intelligence and Technical. If you want to do cool ninja stuff (slow down time, throw knives, move like a ninja), spec into Reflexes and the aptly-named Cool.

Only big advice I'd give after that that others haven't mentioned, is just to sell all looted weapons. Loot enemies after killing them and sell their weapons (unless they're a lot better than your own, obviously). By far the easiest and quickest way to make money, especially when doing side missions etc like other said above. Similar to most RPGs really, being a loot-goblin really pays off.

Really enjoying the Samurai type of build/gameplay. Chucking knives at people, bullet-timing, even just crouch-dashing to get out of enemies' sight quickly and get around them. Barely even using guns at all at this stage. I probably would have been using knives earlier if I'd known they respawn for you a second or two after thrown. I'd seen a perk description about a bonus you get looting your knife back off an enemy and thought you had to constantly go get your knife back.

The story is really well done too. A lot of great characters. Probably going to mainline the Phantom Liberty stuff for now rather than progress the main story any further.

One thing I'm going to do though is stop doing the El Capitan vehicle missions. They're just a nuisance with very little reward at this stage. It's not a skill issue as such; I only failed the time requirement on one so far because I took a call during the trip (as I passed by a Gig), and when the call was over the route disappeared from my map/minimap so I didn't know where I was meant to deliver it. Took me too long to realise getting out and into the car again would bring it back (literally missed the finish by about 3 seconds). But yeah, there's too many of them and doesn't seem to be a great reward for them other than XP shards.

Also happened upon the side mission from The Office doctor meme from a few posts back without realising it. Most of the side missions are a lot of fun or interesting.

Mad to think how the game launched. Could have been one of the GOATs if it had launched in this form and without a lot of over-promises in trailers/marketing. Have to admire them for the work they've put into it though.

Re a complete hacker build - I know all builds become very powerful eventually but hacker is just so powerful it gets a bit boring. You can take out an entire building without setting foot in it. I did a full hacker/Corpo female V build, it was very cool until as I said, I got to the stage that I was so strong.

Also thinking of starting a new playthrough, my fourth I think! Never did Nomad/Gun build so probably go that route but I find it very hard to stray from a Katana/Street Female V build

That perk for the knives has changed. You used to lose the knife once you threw it, it didn't return to you. Made throwing knives pointless. They changed it (rightly) a while back, unsure when.

At what point do the main game is the best time to segway into phantom liberty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,691 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Christ that'd be a pain if you had to collect it each time. It can feel slightly overpowered as it takes most enemies down in one hit, particularly with various other perks for headshot damage, damage from cover etc. But at the same time if you miss it can feel like an age before you can throw another, kind of like having to reload.

That said, as slow as it can be at times, it just feels so badass and I'm tanky enough that I can survive, so it's worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,492 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

It does feel really cool to use alright. And after all, isn't that the point of Cyberpunk? Being really f*cking cool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,528 ✭✭✭✭Varik

You only lost it if you didn't pick it up again but it was a really good chance you'd lose it as the chances of it clipping and getting physically lost were high. I used it for a while but after a bit I gave up and used a pistol for the few ranged stealth kills I did.

It was very early that got patched.
