20 years ago today, where does time go.

One of the most iconic moments of the last 25 years in pro wrestling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A 50 year old man jumps of a cage and breaks his leg and then there is weeks of online talk and negitive discourse across fan bases and wrestling aggregators.

A 25 stone man jumps off a cage and shatters his ankle barley a second mention of it by those bases and aggregators.

I think the discourse was more that Edge took the bump badly, definitely don't remember it being weeks either. He went straight directly down on his ankles and I think age is more of a point that somebody's weight in taking a bump like that. Bronson was unlucky the way he landed. Edge by his own admission, hesitated and didn't land right.

If we're talking about people posting tribalistic comments too, pot kettle black.

is it just me or are some of WWE’s heels too well written?

Like it’s hard to see how Kevin Owens is in the wrong here, Drew McIntyre as well.

Then you have Seth Rollins who will no doubt turn heel soon but his reasoning aren’t too ludicrous either. Genuinely storyline wise I’m rooting for Owens over Cody and if anything Cody is giving me 1997 crybaby Bret Hart vibes

Metalmania made it's LA debut this past weekend and what a night it was!

And someone made a shocking debut!

Unreal fun and was great to have a lot of the GCW roster there too to hang out!

Any interest round the forum in reviving the old PW Draft?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,736 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

AEW signed star appears in WWE ring 😛

Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper's kids brought into the ring after last week's smackdown.

DiBiase vs a 19 year old HBK. JR on commentary.

I was thinking about this over christmas. It was always fun but really lost invest re:people wanting to write shows.

I personally think the drafting was the most enjoyable part.

We could do a brilliant thing where we get AI (Chat GBT) to take our drafts picks and give an overall synopsis/scoring. Or even get it to book and write the shows.

Yeah I was gonna try a new format and just run the draft without the requirement to book the shows alright. People just vote on the rosters then.

Get AI to write the storylines/write the shows could give a good laugh.

So back to Alistair Black or will wwe do a Sean Spears on it ??

Actually is he still in Nxt ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,089 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I'm a fan of Matt Cardona but I couldnt see him in AEW but it feels he's tailor-made for WWE but it hasnt happened, do we have any thoughts or suspicions on it?

Now I haven't watched WWE in years so maybe my idea of WWE has changed and wouldn't fit Matt anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,450 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

with Ric been 'best mates with Triple H' will Trips have the b***s to book Cena breaking Flairs championship record ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,705 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

I'd give you short enough odds on it. Screams very much of "giving back to John who has given so much for the WWE" —Thank You Cena chants— etc etc etc

    I wouldn't be against it.

Ransom youtube video popped up of Maven's appearance in the RoW Rumble last year. Got me wondering, I know multiple promotions do their own rumbles but what are some of the best rumbles outside WWE over the years?

Like would need to be one that's just enjoyable to watch without knowing any stories going into it.

The mini Rumble on Raw that Chyna won was fantastic.

I watched Iron Claw tonight. Great movie and i'm really impressed with the actors that played the Von Erich brothers. It was very depressing though. I knew about the Von Erich family and the deaths of the brothers, but it was still really sad to watch.

Am I right in thinking they didn’t mention all the deaths ? I’m sure they skipped over mike’s death.

They didn't include Chris Von Erich, the youngest brother at all and he also died by suicide. I think Mike's death was included but haven't seen it since cinemas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,910 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Okay I knew it was one of them. It’s a big what if in wrestling. What if David von Erich hadn’t died in Japan, it might not have lead to so much tragedy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,538 ✭✭✭ThePott

Interesting one alright, I wonder if their awareness of being under a 'curse' helped perpetuate a sense of doom that hung over them too, especially as it seemed to feel true as so much tragedy occured around them. Fritz's first son died at 6 after being electrocuted and drowning face down in a snow puddle, which they of course didn't include in the movie. David had also lost a child to SIDS, can't remember if that was in the film or not.

I wonder if after all those things happening not even including the non-fatal horrors they went through that the idea of a curse seemed inescapable for them.

The butterfly effect is interesting though, there was an interesting thread on Reddit about wrestling related ones a few months back - What are some of the craziest butterfly effect moments in pro wrestling?

Likely won't bother with it, but anyone watch that LFG show? Don't think there's a way to watch here without resorting to other means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,289 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

    Watched Wrestlemania 1 recently.

Terrible really. Apart from the pop Sammartino got

And this. Which is very random.

I wonder who was supposed to sing it.

Have to say I’m enjoying Kross stirring the pot. Not sure where it’ll all leads to but it’s enjoyable to watch.

Wonder is it similar to what Sean O'Haire's devil advocate gimmick was going to be

He's the one guy who had it all but tragically just wasn't to be

Fred durst has got ideas from his pro wrestling peers

The host of the gig in the 3Arena is trying so so hard it's embarrassing

Is it just me or is anyone tiring of HHH’s booking? Theres alot of same stuff appearing recently. And he has a massive problem with the follow through booking.

Like he can pull off great viral moments but zero follow up….

Wyatt Sicks - great introduction but zero follow up killed all momentum.

The New Day - excellent heel turn, epic heat and now momentum killed and feel lost in the shuffle already.

Cody’s title reign - WM40 great pay off been a bore fest since. Also his rumble win last year which they wanted him to just hand over his main event to rock was a massive misstep

Gable/Otis - crowd was itching for Otis to turn on gable and follow through feel flat. American made falling flat as well especially with this masked wrestler quest.

Even Cena’s heel turn - Epic turn, no Cena for weeks and the follow up was lacklustre as Cena isn’t available and doesn’t want to miss out on his last year of merchandise money

I feel like there’s 100’s more examples. I feel like a lot of programmes start well but fizzle out and lose momentum quick enough when it could be so much more.
