You can see how intelligently he links the team together when he can. Looks key to it all functioning. Then bam, injured.

Is there a non broken Mount out there? Such a shame as he is made for this system.

I don't follow the gossip too closely these days, but are there rumours of Barca having to let Olmo go? He would also be a very good fit imo.

It got way overshadowed by the Rashford and Garnacho omissions but I thought it was a really big call to start Mount and Amad ahead of Bruno in those 10 spots. Bruno's influence will diminish a lot under Amorim imo. And that's no bad thing, even if he was playing great - relying on one player is a weakness.

When christensen comes back in January, which he have to, olmo will be deregistered til they get below the salary cap.

Apparently something in his deal says if he's not registered at close of the period he can leave on a free, but that's just the speculation I've heard.

It seems Barca find themselves in this situation quite often, but they seem to avoid it somehow.

United beat Coventry 5-0 in the youth cup tonight, Biancheri scored 3 and also missed a penalty

@UnitedAnalyst7 on twitter has the goals and more stuff and stuff

Just seen Brandon Williams is without a club the last 6 months, another player with a bad attitude outside of football wasting a talent so many others would give anything for.

Seems to be pretty clear that Rashford's interview wasn't known about by the club.

Terrible response to getting dropped if you ask me and reinforces that it was the right decision. He's made everything about himself.

Thankfully, Garnacho seems to be keeping the head down so hopefully he will learn from it and come back a better and more determined player.

It's a really disappointing response from Rashford, but hardly surprising. The manager set the bar and set the challenge, by outlining the standards he expects from everyone.

Rather than knuckle down and accept that challenge, Marcus did what he did. He just doesn't have it in him to be part of the collective effort United need if we're ever to return to being a top PL side again.

Best for everyone if he moves on very quickly - and we can leave this sideshow behind us

Been tied up elsewhere for past few days so missed all the Rashford fallout thankfully. I think he has something else lined up elsewhere surely.

It's funny tho he invites Winter for an interview when he's giving out gifts at a school or whatever... Why didn't he invite him along last year when he was on the lash in Belfast.... Many players do stuff for the local community they just dont bring along a journalist.

Still not sure where he goes. Cant see anyone outside of the Saudi's being interested.

Excuses can and will be made for him but the simple fact is that we are now up to 6 managers that have had to call out and/or publicly discipline Rashford (Mourinho, OGS, Ragnick, Southgate, ETH & Amorim). One or two you can put down to personality clashes or specific bad times in Rashfords personal life but six different managers?! Honestly it's pretty unprecedented and inexcusable

What did Jose call him out for? I remember him criticising his ability up front. Nothing on him personally.

What did ole call him out for? Telling him to stick to football during the time the government was attacking him for the kids campaign I remember, abd disliked immensely. I don't remember him being called out re. Discipline.

Ragnick said he could leave if he wanted to, he also said every player should be sold.

I thought Southgate just said he wasn't playing well enough.

Amorin said at either his last Sporting press conference or his first United one that he would not buy a Sporting player in the January window. Of course managers can change their mind, but Amorin strikes me as someone who would consider keeping his word as very important.

Now if some other club agreed a fee with Sporting for a player, and United came in and matched the bid and the player chose United because of Amorin, that would not be regarded as breaking his word as Sporting would be losing the player either way.

Separately, United seem to be going gang busters at underage this season. I’ve seen so many scores where they’ve hammered teams, including top teams. Seems like something good has been going on at underage for a few years with players breaking through or getting close to breaking through. One area where they seem to be best in class or thereabouts, not sure who deserves the credit for it.

Watching the rest of the press conference now. Ruben said that Garnacho was upset with him and he was glad to see that because he would react the same. But also said that he responded and trained well.

Asked the same re Rashford, "he was sick". Also said he hadn't spoken to Rashford re the interview, or to senior management about his future. He did admit that if he was in the same situation, he would have spoken directly to his manager rather than speaking to the press.

I think it's more likely that the club did know about it just when it got moved back because of the hospital visit and the whole thing at the weekend with every journalist linked to the club outlining that he was for sale the media people at the club didn't cop that the interview was going to be what it was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,514 ✭✭✭BenK

Sorry, I meant that they didn't know what the content of the interview was going to be, that Rashford was looking for a new challenge etc.

    Yep, definitely.

A major fúck up as it shows 3 separate agendas between manager, player and board going on and a lack of control of them.

It is rather remarkable that seemingly Rashford is the only United player to have done community/charity work this christmas.

There was stuff about the 'SQUAD' visiting various hospitals and charities last week or the week before and meeting kids etc. No journalists, no PR teams, no hidden agenda's…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,941 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Yeah, Rashford should continue is 'Feed the kids' stuff without talking to anyone about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭jayo44

Such a hard upbringing too he had to get the bus to training as a young fella because his mother didn't own a car... Imagine that bless him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭GolfPar

He has millions of followers on social media that he can post the charity stuff about (which he did). He wouldn't need a football journalist in attendance to promote charity work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,686 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

Invite Henry Winter along with you to do a piece on that for sure. Raise awareness. Let him know in advance that the interview is solely based on the work he’s doing to help kids. Nobody is talking about that now because of what he has said about being ready to leave Man United. That’s the story.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,941 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

THe post was railing about him having a newspaper there at all - pointing out the club do stuff without media. So the inference is that he shouldn't have media involved, at all, with his charity work. I do find it distasteful that he would mix football/transfer stuff with it. Just as i find it distasteful when we see plalyers giving standard football interviews and answers to press when they are doing hospital visits at christmas ("Yeah, it will be a tough game vs X", with patients and nurses in the background - see it on Sky every christmas')

How much was pre-planned, i've no idea. the interview was supposed to be the previous week and postponed before he was dropped, before the club let it be known he was for sale - so the initial interview and push likely wouldn't have had this in mind (or if it did, it would have been a much bigger story imo - as it would have been him wanting out without a clear incident and narrative driving the commentary).

[Mike Keegan] 🚨SIR JIM RATCLIFFE INCREASES STAKE IN MANCHESTER UNITED 🔴Injects further $100m ⚫️Transfers stake from himself to INEOS 🔴Stake now 28.94% (was 27.7%).

    Funds for January perhaps?

I was thinking the summer, sorry should have stated, I can't see any Jan signings, at least permanent.

Its not the feed the kids stuff people have a problem with at all, its honestly great rashford does it and uses his prfoile in the way he did for the kids but it should be kept separate from football, he invited a or some journalists along to do an interview and gave a very unprofessional one without talking to the manager or the people who run the football side of things.

The interview takes away any spotlight he might have been hoping to shine on whatever charity he was supporting and shines it directly on him, the club the manager and his relationship with all of them.

People say Rashford get unfairly singled out but it was him that gave this interview when he was doing charity work, it was him who put it all over his social media when he was away on international break (i dont think anothy or casamerio did when they were away) he and his team are very pr savy they know how this all works and where the attention will go when they do what they do.

You cant have it both ways, you cant be a social media presence and just take all the positives that go with it and you certainly shouldnt be giving unprofessional interviews when out doing charity work without expecting a negative reaction. what he did was completely self serving and in the end doesnt help him, the club or the charity/charity work

Funds to keep the lights on I would think.

He has already put in more than can be used for covering PSR losses, so anything invested now is cashflow. But maybe that is it - maybe we have PSR room for transfers but not the cash to back it up. could be.

Also, his initial purchase had an agreement to put 300m in - was it 200m he put in previously so this would 'just' be the completion of his binding agreement.
