I'm not sure were you are getting the rate they pay but it's not 29.5c it's 19.5c typo? The rates are in a link above your post.

I had my panels installed by Solar8 which is owned by SSE. I have the 29.5c rate because of that which was confirmed by SSE this morning. So based on what my smart meter says and the 29.5c rate I get from SSE, they are only giving me 1/6th of what I'm actually due.

But is it your consumption + standing charge minus your export equals €54?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭NCC1701

    Hi,

All my bills are paid up to date and I have no outstanding charges with them. So I can't understand where they're getting the €54 from which, according to SSE Airtricity, represents 7 months of my panels exporting power to the grid? As I live alone and am at work most of the day, my power consumption is low compared to most and during the summer, the panels supplied all my power requirements and so I was only being billed for the standing charge. The smart meter states I've exported 1016kw to the grid since April, I haven't received any credit from SSE to date and all my bills are paid up to date. So how on earth are they telling me I'm just due a paltry €54? Am I missing something here?

Are you checking the smart meter panel, the data from esb networks, or what sse reports on their site?

I don't think ESB starts pulling/processing export data untill the nc6 is processed and I'm pretty sure my meter and ESB have a discrepancy because of this.

I checked the smart meter this morning and it stated I've exported 1016 kws. My NC6 was processed in early May, just a week after the panels were installed and so I should have been getting credit since then. I've checked the export data on ESB networks and it states that I've exported just 792kw? Why would this be different to what the smart meter states?? However both figures would still give me a credit between €230 and €299. So I'm at a loss to understand how SSE are offering me such a small amount when my smart meter and the rate they gave me suggests I should get just shy of €300?

I have been using the ESBN data files for some time now, and find the 30-minute HDF files can have data missing which throws out any ability to validate with other data (A full day should have 96 entries, 48 Import, 48 Export).

What I find more reliable is the import/export file which gives you the meter readings at midnight. Daily usage is obtained by subtracting the previous day's readings from today's. It is also easier to handle should there be a missing day's data.

Anyone know the process once you've switched away from a supplier regarding a pending CEG payment? Installed last Jan and got the first one around May. I switched from SSE in October. Their website states it would be on the final bill, which it was not. Ringing them, they mentioned i'd get something (cheque possibly?) November. But from reading here it seems most people get their November payment around January with SSE. Should I be waiting till then to see if anything materialises?

My house in Ireland has solar panels and it has only been lived in for one month since July last year when panels were installed - child away travelling. There was a lot of electricity fed to the grid since July. Airtricity said when I got the panels installed that there would be a payment in November for the excess fed to the grid, but there hasn't been. How is this payment given - it hasn't been given as a credit on my bill? Is it paid into my account? How do I find out?

SSE Pay twice a year, as do Bord Gais.

It comes up as a credit on your bill, (when would your billing cycle normally land? eg mine is in sept, nov, jan etc Others could be Aug, oct, dec etc)

Most other providers are every billing cycle.

Has anyone gotten their November payment from SSE yet? From their FAQ, I see they're moving to four payments per year next year, February, May, August, and November.

Did you ever receive confirmation from the ESB that the NC6 form had been received? If so then what is your billing cycle as @graememk queried. If it aligns with November then get on to SSE.

If your export is showing up on the ESB networks website the nc6 has been received.

Not me, and it's 5th Dec now. Due a letter and a cheque as I switched from them in the summer.

    Did anyone else?

    Thanks.

When would your normal bill come, Eg would it normally come at the end of sept or the end of oct

eg my billing cadence is end of july, sept, nov, jan etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 431 ✭✭Manuel

My understanding is that Airtricity currently calculate it twice a year - end of May and end of November.

I'm not with them any more so I'm expecting a letter and cheque soon after that. I have no bill any more.

The letter I got earlier in the year was dated 31 May. I can't remember when I actually received it.

I switched from SSE to Bord Gais during the summer. Still haven’t gotten FIT from either.

    Hi

Sorry if wrong place to ask. I had solar panels since 2nd May. I got my SSE later and turns out only picking up exports from 29th May. This actually aligns to what is on ESB Networks.

I just wanted to check is this standard that you lose a few weeks. The 29th of May aligns to when ESB confirmed receipt of NC6 form but means they got full month free export?

Hoping to move to Energia in January as seem to have best export rates.

    Thanks

AFAIK until the NC6 is received by ESBN there is no payment so it's from the date they receive it.

Received notification of my 5th CEG (FIT) payment from SSE - format was a monthly breakdown - covering May-Oct 24 (inclusive).

SSE reported 1479kWh exported vs Solis app reporting 1461kWh exported.

Energia cutting rate to 20c come 13th January

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,184 ✭✭✭micks_address

yeah seen that.. its a significant cut.. are the others following suit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,184 ✭✭✭micks_address

does them changing the rate allow you to switch contract without early termination fees?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,013 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

No, they can change rates, for both import and export, only the discount is fixed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 819 ✭✭✭conor_mc

I think Energia are probably the last supplier in the market to reduce their FiT rate, rather than the first of a new wave of reductions. It was good while it lasted!

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,013 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

There is also a reduction in import

Nope, Just a reduction in the Export

    pinergy were 25 cents export?

i changed from pinergy to energia for the 4 hour time window versus 3 but i was probably better off staying with pinergy.. if they keep their payment for export at 25 cents.. plus the 5 cents import.. if only they did a 4 hour window.. i was finding my battery was only 80% full most mornings in November/december/jan.. but rest of the year the solar easily covered the rest of the day for me and i mostly avoided peak import rates.

I'll lose approx €140 with Energia's FIT reduction but the new contract I signed will only save me around €29 on the night rate and whatever change saved from the day rates. Hopefully they'll reduce rates in the New Year and hopefully the government credit stops. Hard for us to cry out about energy costs when the Government are feeding private suppliers a significant portion of everyone's bill...
