Better to put nothing on, if someone wanted to put a proper array on, the shame panels are in the way. At least they are in the top corner, not bang in the middle like some.

    Unlikely to be solar thermal

Still haven't received it. They better credit the account before the next bill arrives in October as I have no intention of paying the bill with only €30 credit left in the tank. Circa. €250 owed.

Just called flogas, they said they would look into it with esb networks, and would credit me fit if any is due,I said they owe me about 140e in FIT, my bill was 160e.

I got the feeling, they having problems with ESBN or they just making excuses.

Kind of related but still waiting for the credit on my account since closing it at the end of June.

Guys, quick note, we switched suppliers when we got PV install done and the leaving supplier didn't pay the nearly €500 (gas and electric) we were owed untill I'd called at least 4 times, best advice keep caling and calling.

I just did the same and got similar response.

Not sure what's going on. I can see from my ESB account how much has been exported in the period.

Have you had any joy since your call to Flogas?

I have had my first full month on the Energia EV smart tariff. Unfortunately my inverter wasn't connecting to the logger, so I don't have PV details to hand. I'm used to my bi-monthly bill being €600-€800 per billing cycle, so €300-€400 monthly.

Only had solar installed in March and installed a 15kWh battery to charge on night rate soon after. Bills were definitely lower even with EI, but looking at the "Insights" on my energia account, am I seeing this right? I have imported €109 worth of leccy and exported €61, so this month I have only spent €48 on leccy?? Pinch me please!!

I expect grid consumption will be higher going forward until I add more panels, because the net benefit of Solar PV will be less in the darker months, but I am well impressed seeing these numbers. And I have a second battery ready to be installed which I finished a couple days ago to make sure we don't run out of cheaply stored power.

Hi, yeah I have found the figures on the ESBN site match the ones on Energia's pretty much to within 0.1Kw of a Kw.

So providing we've used minimal day rate the money side of the calculations are simple (682 x 0.24)-(381 x 0.075).

don't forget the fixed standing charge in calculations :)

True, infact the SC is more than half the cost of the power we are paying for each day.

Rang Flogas and was advised that FIT figures havn't been recieved by ESB for last month.
More customers are affected I've also been told.

Just posting here for anyone who might be in the same boat.

I'm not sure if other people recieved different information from flogas but I'll keep an eye out as I didn't recieve anything in the last two months (normally an online FIT "bill" shows up at the same time as the monthly invoice ).

Btw, comparing with 2021 when my electricity rates were at 19c/kwh fixed (pre ukraine war and inflation and pre standing charges increases - minus reduced gov levi).
After fit and self PV consumpltion It's roughtly 20% cheaper on avrage per bill.
I assume that people with no PV are roughtly still paying 50% more on avg for similar KWH consumption in 2024 vs 2021.

Quick question, with the 2-5am cheap electricity on some smart meter tariffs is there an upper limit on how much you can use of this? I don't see it mentioned but want to be sure.

Yup, I'm in the same boat. I can see from my ESB portal that I'm owed circa €250 for the previous 2 month period.

I rang Flogas roughly 10 days ago and was told same re them not receiving the data from the ESB.

If not sorted by the time next bill is due I'll put the brakes on the DD. I've only €30 credit left on the account with no intention of paying a bill until the full €300+ credit is exhausted.

Most of the outstanding FIT was credited to my account yesterday. It only goes up to 29th July so two weeks worth or approximately €60 still to be credited.

Happy enough as they are at least working on it. The rest will come in due course.

Funny how the data for imports never goes missing! :p

I had to email Flogas to get the FIT payment the last two times. I think a separate department does the FIT payments and I'm getting the feeling it's one person who hates their job

Here is a handy link to Switcher.ie showing the rates payable by the supply companies. Might be handy to consider if moving energy supplier at any time. https://switcher.ie/gas-electricity/feed-in-tariffs/

Pinergy seem to be the best at 25c and paying monthly. SSE recently moved to 19.5c grrrrrr

Today I got my first proper bill from Energia to compare with last years from EI. Both are 57 days and within a couple of days of eachother. I consumed almost the same amount of units peak and off peak…though my off peak is now condensed into 4 hours and fed from the battery during the day.

    Anyway, here's the summary.

Electric Ireland for 57 days this time last year was €768 after discounts. I had a D/N tariff.

Energia (with a €50 credit thrown in) was today just under €15. Yep….that's right. So, €65 without the credit. I'm on EV plan.

I ended up taking 77kWh during peak rates from the grid. This would be when the inverter can't meet the house demand. So, those units cost me around €28 instead of €6. Potentially that bill would have been in credit if my inverter was bigger. I think that's pretty good going and a nice chunk off the capital investment, which is about €10k for 5kWp of solar and my 30kWh of DIY batteries. I'm so getting a third battery now!

Who would be the best day/night plan to move to while waiting for Energia to call me back with the 38% discount? Due to switch early next month.

use energypal.ie…it very good & free. You will need to upload your HDF file from ESBN

PS: it tells you the best current plan available.

energypal is great, maybe buy the lad a coffee if you use it and find it helps!

I use it but the plans don't always seem to line up with what people are posting in the EV plan thread. I'll compare them again.

I've noticed it doesn't have any of the affinity deals, like the Flogas BWG rate

I think the site also tends to assume you are looking for a smart plan

There's buttons to the side to add custom plans, you can add some of the affinity offers in to see how they fare in the mix
