Thanks. Do you mind me asking what brand/where sourced?

I'm not sure what you mean tbh.

You just need to get the right adapter for the pressure washer, lavor and lidl pressure washers are the same fitting, aldi ones used to be the same. Hand held foamers are grand and do the job but a snow foam lance on a pressure washer is the way to go

    Hi folks,

Took out an old Das 6 dual action today for the first time in well over ten years. I'm not up to speed on detailing but had power washed, snow foamed twice, hand washed, tar removed and clay bared the entire car , then chamois dry and started some paint correction with my 10+ year old compound! Anyway, almost immediately the backing plate just seemed to burst. The motor of the polisher seems fine.

Just curious, does a backing plate come with the littl metal attachment yeah ? At the moment that littl metal part is attached to the polisher, so just wondering is this possibly as simple as removing the metal thing somehow and just ordering and fitting a new backing plate ??

Ps, is there any way to know what sort of pads I have ? I onvo bought them a long time ago, they seem in owrf condition so I obviously looked after them, they are varying colours and varying levels of how gritty they feel, some with big honeycomb style patterns, some with lots of tiny little holes. I can kind of feel which ones are soft and which are abrask etc, but they seem to have no marks. Is there any kind of way to work out what's what ?

Ok so figured this out after watching a few YouTube videos of how the machines are put together.

The screw attached to the backing plate has sheared off completely flush inside the polisher connecting part. So was simple case or using a spanner and then a pliers to grip and twist out the backing plate screw. Hadn't been too sure what I was dealing with but very straightforward.

No hassle, I was just wondering what brand cannon and where did you buy it

I have a Karcher brand one that I bought from Mick's garage and I have one from LIDL that fits my LIDL pressure washer.

The perennial question, product recommendations to restore a faded black plastic bumper?
I know I could apply heat or a ceramic coating but I’m not too keen on them for now. Or is painting it with bumper paint the best option?

That time of year for a blast of Fusso. I'll be stripping back what's left of the Wolfgang deep gloss 3.0 and applying the Fusso.

FWIW the Wolfgang has lasted since March quite well, and I could see the bottle laying a decade no bother. The car is still beading well. In fairness it has had semi regular maintenance washes with a quick detailer applied to top up so some of that beading is from that and some from the original coating.

I went ahead and bought a Stone Banks lance which worked fine with my workzone aldi power washer. Inevitably of course the workzone has now developed a significant leak (had noticed a slight oil slick under the unit recently coupled with the the pump continuing to work even when lance lever is released). I removed front cover and there is water gushing out between upper and lower join of the water pump. Anyone any experience of whether these can be fixed or water pump replaced or is it best to bite the bullet and replace unit.

I'm getting matte wheels in the next week or two, I see people often suggest ceramic coatings, just wondering is it necessary?

I take the lazy approach to cleaning as my car has swirl marks on it, one bucket with grit guard as it's never that dirty, regular rinsing of the mitt. I can get away with using the pressure washer on the wheels without wheel cleaner or agitation. I drive an EV so there's not a ton of brake dust and the rears are drums so nothing there.

With that in mind, would I get away with still using a pressure washer only or is there something about matte paint in particular that requires extra care?

Does anyone use a long handle car wash brush, if so any recommendations.

For a car? Not unless it's a banger you don't mind wrecking! I got a cheap one for 20 odd quid for washing the van and its going years no problem

Time is contagious, everyone is getting old.

No good then, I thought it would be less effort.

AliExpress’s finest! noodle mitt on the end of a pole. I’m sure they’re probably in Mr Price etc too.

I used noodle mitts for years with no issues with scratching.
