    Game Tickets

Sorry to interrupt but does anyone know what's the easiest way (without spending a fortune) to get 3 or 4 tickets to any game in old Trafford this side of Christmas? There used to be a soccer travel thread years ago but it's long gone. Thanks

Not great record in fairness. But then compare it to the man he may replace and wan bissaka missed even more with his two injuries than all of Mazraoui injuries combined last season

That would be against the current crop of sick note defence that we seem to carrying into yet anther season though 😁

AWB isn't even an issue, Dalot is first choice clearly so AWB is fine to have as back up for a year even if he does go for free next season. Get a decent deal done then when the time comes, he's second choice.

LB is a way bigger issue, pretty massive actually, and has been for years. The forward players like Rashford on that side love a overlapping player. When Depay came he was pretty good till Shaw got his injury and we lost that overlap in attack, Depays form hit the ****.

Bottom line is we can't be hoping for Shaw to stay injury free a whole season or Malacia to suddenly rid his injury, he himself hasn't had enough minutes on the pitch to even know if he's good enough.

Mazroui provides us with cover at RB and LB which allows us to potentially save money on LB for this season. In turn it gives Amass time to develop and potentially Malacia return

There's a guy on Facebook "Man Utd Tkts" that posts in an Irish United supporters group Im in. I've not used him and have no affiliation with him but he has received alot of positive feedback and he seems to be on the level.

Amass is gonna develop loads with Mazroui being injured with Shaw and Malacia all season!

I don't really know how true that is. He played LB for Bayern a few times, but I think it may have been much the same as AWB playing left back a few times for us. It happened, but doesn't neccesarily mean we should look at him for LB.

Though you could argue it covers LB regardless cause maybe you just look at it as Dalot can move to LB.

My worry is the injury record: He won't be able to help cover any position if he is in the treatment room.

Dalot at LB with Antony left wing is something I wouldn't mind seeing experimented.

Some of Dalot's runs from the full back positions last season were very threatening without really working out. I'd hope with a more settled group looking for them there will be an improvement this season.

Dalot was one of our best players last season (faint praise, I know) - so what, are we dropping him for Mazroui in order to get the best out Antony (a futile idea if ever I heard one)?

Incidentally, in all struggles to find a decent DM, why have we never tried AWB there? He's a decent player, has a good tackle, just not quick or incisive enough at FB. There seems to be a real resistance to trying players in different positions at United these days, Fergie did it quite regularly.

You answered your own question there- "just not quick or incisive enough at FB"

Dunno how you could look at his technique and ball use, and think DM is a position for AWB.

Does AWB have the game intelligence for it? He’s been a right back for years and hasn’t learned how to position himself to defend a cross. Imagine him trying to learn a completely new position. Could be a nightmare relying on himself and Casemiro.

I wouldn’t trust him there anyway - if he’s moved on, which it looks like he will be, I doubt many will be upset over it.

Similar thoughts on Dalot - arguably our best player last season. Buying a right back to unlock a winger when your current right back was your best player seems foolish.

But then I don't think it is really about replacing Dalot.

AWB is out of contract next summer, so you either sell him and replace him this summer, or lose him on a free next summer and replace him then without any money coming in to cover that replacement directly. so, imo, selling AWB and buying someone this summer makes sense. It is then a question of who is the best replacement we can afford in terms of both fee and wages. I guess Mazaroui is it?

I do think a LB is a more pressing issue, but we are already paying for two senior LB options (regardless of how injured they are) and have a very promising player in Amass. At RB if AWB is sold we only have Dalot, and no promising youth.

Because he can't pass a football or play on the half turn. He's a pressing trigger at right back and would be eaten alive in the middle of the park.

I can see an emergency loan coming in at left back happening before the deadline. Probably not a bad idea too if there is hope that Malacia will play at some point of the season however, at least to my eyes, he never looked very good before the injury though.
I hope Shaw can stay fit as much as possible and play well. Himself and Rashford are a good combo. Trying my best to keep the glass half full 😅

Reguilon is free to leave Spurs, he done ok with us.

No doubt a right back could player centre mid to a high level, but it's generally a player that is top class at right back (Lahm, Kimmich etc.). I've never heard of a limited enough full back excelling in midfield.

Mazroui makes zero sense as he would be signed as a back up to Dalot which is only needed because we are selling the existing back up AWB. We have existing holes that need patching without patching new ones.

Unless Mazroui is on massively reduced wage to what AWB is on I don't see the benefit at all. If its a finacial cost saving move then fine its of some help.

The talk last year was AWB wanted to go back to London, to be closer to family so maybe United have agreed to let him go if they can replace him. I have no idea what that reported target is like but surely the team of Ten Hag/Wilcox/Ashworth/Vivell have decided that is who they want

Like i gotta try have faith in Vivel and Wilcox, but YET ANOTHER former/linked EtH player in Mazaroui just sets me off!

I have to keep reminding myself that his ajax team(s) did have really good players in it!

Still, can't help but side-eye the 'fact' that the best right back we could find this summer just happens to be a right back EtH had previously! His injury record and the fact Bayern are more than happy to let him go also gets a bit of side eye. But then Kimmich is arguably the best RB in football right now, so getting a decent chunk of money for your second choice right back who you got in on a free (iirc) isn't bad business.

To be fair to the United hierarchy at the moment, I think finances are such that they are working on trying to find market opportunities rather than outright first choices.

Zirkzee at 35million - not often you get a player of his quality on a RC like that, take advantage.
De Ligt - if he can be got for the 40m or so United seem to be willing to go to, thats an opportunity (imo).
Mazaroui - 20m or so for a CL level fullback? Injury issues noted, assuming the wages are good then the finances of the deal are good, and likely fully covered by selling the RB you were going to lose for free in 12 months.
Ugarte - massively rated before heading to PSG just 12 months ago. Similar to De Ligt, if he can be got for the 40m or so United seem to value hom at than he probably represents a great market opportunity.

Yoro doesn't fit well here in temrs of price, but I think the opportunity here was the chance to pick up the CB they rate as the abosolute best prospect in his position in football.

So I reckon United are trying to make do financially, and trying to find the best they can within a tightish budget and without increasing the wage bill per position.
