Mac Dog gone to Jamaica, just confirmed

He was credited with the fa Cup final tactics from what I've read.

We've brought in 4 coaches including Fletcher since last season really, so makes sense he'd be feeling a bit minimised.

Jesus christ you're overreacting to every little bit of news is exhausting. 3 games somehow extends to November, like how do you jump to that stupid conclusion?

Potentially missing 8 competitive games if it is 2 months, not great whatever way it’s spun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,942 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

    Meh, tbh.

Were hoping for hundreds of games out of him.

Its not a time line that should impact his progression and development, which is the important part.

I assume your 8 games is including league Cup? Maybe europa? I make it 5, maybe 6 pl games on the longer time line?

One positive from the Yoro injury is that it might force the clubs hand to go back into the market for an experienced CB.

Providing of course that we can move on Lindelof.

If Yoro had been the only CB signing it would have left us well short of comfort as are only a Martinez injury away from back to a Maguire and Lindelof pairing😅

The long term is the important part for sure but it’s still disappointing that he won’t be a part of the squad for the start of the season.

If he isn’t deemed ready to play until let’s say the end of Sept it would be 6 league games, Carabao and Europa games yeah. You’d hope they would be on the cautious side anyway which would probably mean that isn’t far off.

until the club confirm it lads then we really don’t know. Luckhurst is not the greatest to quote as he has burned bridges with the club but until the club confirm the injury and time then I’ll not get excited or sad 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,690 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

It’s not just Luckhurst in fairness. The Times reporting the same. Multiple journalists posted at the same time so looks to be a brief from somewhere. The club have been pretty poor on comms about injuries the last year tbh.

Because it's Utd and they've a brutal record of getting players back from injury lately.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Then it's best you go have a little lie down if I'm exhausting you.

It's far from a stupid comment by the way. It's far more stupid to have any faith in the Utd medical team to someone back within any sort of reasonable timeframe.

FFS. Was it Gabriel Jesus who injured him in a friendly?

Really really glad to see McClaren gone!

A poor mans Southgate… at best. A dose.

Manchester United confirm Leny Yoro is out for 3 months and Hojlund is out for 6 weeks

Not the start to the new season we needed...they have to get DeLigt sorted now and big pressure on Zirkzee

Anthony & Rashford came off for precautionary reasons it looks like on twitter.

Read that we played well until the usual massive bunch of subs, Muppiteers guy giving praise to Amad, Amass, Rashford & Sancho

apparently rashford and antony also injured last night.

a very uninspiring lineup, still major work needed. over to you ineos.

United starting XI vs Real Betis: Heaton; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Amass; Casemiro, Eriksen, McTominay; Amad, Rashford, Sancho.

United confirming 3 months on yoro is painful tbh... Hopefully that's the conservative time line.

Apparently Rashford looked fine after the match and isn't an issue.

If you have to pivot to sign a striker because one player will miss 3 games, your planning and thinking is way off, imo.

The lack of focus that seems to be the case for central midfield is INSANE imo. Nothing should be more important.

I wonder is it just a report aimed at the fact we have just had those two positions injured.

I think come next week our sales will start to begin. AWB, McT, Hannibal, Lindelof are on tour. Pellestri is still on leave

3 months is about right for that type of injury. It was never going to be 3-6 weeks.

Rashford should be fine. He took studs to the ankle from a lazy tackle and came off straight away but looked okay. He also played well last night and was on the end of a lot of fouls for a preseason game.

6-8 weeks is common for that type of injury.Especially if it doesn't require surgery. I don't think 3 weeks was speculated. 3 games was, but 3 pl games brings us to September 14, 7 weeks after the injury.

But that's what you want? Maguire and Martinez probably would have started the season first choice anyway and having Yoro and Lindelof fit would be good backup with Shaw and Evans emergency cover.

They may have been planning Lindelof out and another in but it's not dire straights.

Have already watch the game as was up with the kids. Played some nice stuff again in the first half. Casemiro to the eye doesn't look as heavy legged as last season. Looks fitter.

Rashford looked very sharp and Amad continues to impress on the right. Amass is a real talent.

What caught my eye the most though was the pressing. It's only preseason though. Let's see does it translate to the Prem.

On Yoro, yes it's disappointing but the good news is that it's not his ankle as first thought. The foot will heal as strong/stronger. Once you damage ankle ligaments, they're never the same.

    How were Mount and Collyer?

Fulham have made a second bid worth around £20 million for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who is also the subject of strong interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

United rejected an initial £15 million offer from Fulham for McTominay at the start of the summer and the west London club have now returned with an improved bid.

It still falls short of United’s £25 million to £30 million of the Scotland international but there is also competing interest from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, both of whom want to bring him to Turkey.

Everton are also admirers of McTominay but are unlikely to be able to afford the player amid the uncertainty hanging over the club following the collapse of the Friedkin Group’s proposed takeover.

Fulham have agreed a projected £34 million deal with Arsenal for Emile Smith Rowe but are in the market for another midfielder following the departure of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich and manager Marco Silva rates McTominay highly.

McTominay, 27, has a year left on his existing contract with United, who also have the option to extend by another 12 months to June 2026.

United are hoping to sign a No. 6 style midfielder this summer with Paris Saint Germain’s Manuel Ugarte of interest but are struggling to find buyers for Casemiro and need to raise funds to reinvest in the squad.

Any McTominay sale would represent pure profit on the books given he is an academy graduate.

McTominay – who was one of several players to impress in the 3-2 win over Real Betis in San Diego in the early hours on Thursday – could have left United last summer with Erik ten Hag open to his departure.

But Ten Hag ended up being grateful McTominay did not leave with United decimated by injury and the midfielder finishing as third joint top scorer alongside Alejandro Garnacho with 10 goals.

He has been a valuable squad player to United for years but United are ready to sell if the deal is right.

i'd say toney is off the cards, or will cost a fortune:

Brazilian striker Igor Thiago ruled out for most of 2024 with meniscus injury sustained against AFC Wimbledon; it means Brentford will need Ivan Toney, whose contract is into its final year; serious interest is yet to emerge over a move for the England striker this summer.

Brentford will sell at 30-40m. He's not signing a new contract there so will go for free next season.

I'd be very surprised if we are actually in for him.

IMO, in an 'ideal' world you would replace Varane and Lindelof with long term signings. Varane for Yoro, Lindelof for Brantwaith (imo). Would give us options and long term plans at RCB and LCB.

But my view is also that the three key initial signings this summer should have been forward, central midfield and centre back.

You could then look at additional signings based on who has gone out, but i just can't understand a world where we could get 2 CBs or two strikers, and play the season with the same midfield, minus Amrabat, as last season. Even if you added Amrabat back in on the cheap, it would be insane imo. the midfield was rubbish last season, there is no reason to think it won't be worse this season with the same players. Sure, Mainoo will likely improve, but Casemiro and Eriksen will likely only get worse.

I'd prefer to play Lindelof in defence than ANY of our current midfielders at Defensive Midfield.

PSG look to be close to getting Neves, €60m +10 in addition ons, so id expect the Ugarte deal to follow that. Hope we don't overpay for him now, seeing what Neves cost PSG.

I wonder if the club will look to a loan signing for another striker?
