Considering moving from atx to itx to build a small form factor pc.

Id like to keep my CPU (7800x3d), GPU (4080) and RAM.

just wondering if better selling the leftover components as a complete set or piece them out individually

    H7 flow

    360mm kraken elite

    X670e strix board

    1000w PSU

edit: looks like I am going to struggle to find a case that fits. 342mm GPU…

New Lian-Li x DAN Cases A3 is SIIIICK

    (at 4:16)

26L with huge compatibility, big airflow, 70 quid!

Just wondering what others opinions is on this.

For Intake fans, 3x120 vs 2x140. Trying to figure out the best layout for my case.

I feel that the lowest 120mm fan is wasted as airflow goes straight into the PSU shroud, unless I am missing something here?

3x120 will have higher airflow but 2x140 should have lower noise.

All depends on the exact model of fan. But personally I advocate for the largest fan that fits whenever possible.

What do you have for exhaust fans? Getting heat out of the car can be more important.

I have a Noctua 120 on the rear and 2x120 Artic P12's from the Liquid Freezer 2 AIO on top.

If the fans are dealing with the radiator then they're probably not helping exhaust much.

So assuming you've got 2-3 times as much air coming in as being pushed out, how is the rest of the case for ventilation? Glass all round or lots of mesh at the back?

I see a decent amount of 13000 and 14000 Intel users are reporting their CPU's are degrading.

I'm mulling over the idea of moving to 2.5Gb ethernet (I'd go 10Gb, but I don't want to have to redo the Cat5e cabling that's already in place here.) It's really only for transferring files to/from my Unraid server, and my main PC. The setup would be as follows:

ISP Modem in bridge mode → Gigabit Router → 2.5Gb Switch →→ Expansion 2.5Gb NIC's on PC & Unraid Server

^^ Would that setup work? Or does the router itself also need to be 2.5Gb??

The switch should direct the 2.5 GBps traffic within itself, and not go near the router, assuming you're using their internal IP addresses.

Cheers Spear, I did think that but wasn't 100% sure so said I'd ask the wiser souls here. Actually, just looking at prices, 10Gb really isn't as expensive as it used to be and it's not a massive difference price wise....I know the cabling would bottleneck me but maybe it'd be worth it for futureproofing (going 10Gb) as I can always upgrade the cable later on

Be a little careful, not all 10gbps NICs and switches support 2.5 gbps, as odd as it sounds. So double check any specs before parting with your cash.

Cheers. A 100m roll of Cat6 isn't expensive….gas how this has turned from a quick & easy upgrade, to a full on reworking of the home network in just a few posts!

On further thought, I might go back to the 2.5Gb idea. Using Unraid with a twin cache and being SATA based ssd's, 10Gb would be a waste as I'll not be able to to saturate it.

I might grab some used Intel 10Gb cards on eBay for future proofing (will check if they'll happily negotiate at 2.5Gb), and then for the next hardware update of the server I can investigate nvme based cache etc.

Older 10gig Nics run hot, they were meant for servers and they pull a fair bit of power. Its part of why it didn't catch on.

Cat5 on shorter runs can do 10 gig, which the majority of cable runs in a house would be.

I cannot say enough positive words about how good Logitech customer care is

I have a Logitech G915 keyboard and unfortunately the left shift keycap broke and had a hard time trying to find a replacement so I contacted Logitech directly and even though my keyboard is out of warranty they've seen me a complete keycap replacement for my keyboard free of charge

So instead of just wanting 1x shift keycap they've seen me a full replacement, I've set for life now :)

    What unreal customer care.

Meanwhile im on my 5th G602 and 3rd G604 mouse , because the middle mouse clik keeps failing… and also battery discharge and middle klik on the newer G604

Might be worth going on a live chat with Logitech?

    That's how they helped me

oh yeah, i mean they have 8 times already - im just commenting on the quality not being great.

I wouldn't discribe Steve and Wendell as hyperbolic and if this is true it will see a huge impact for years. Pretty much lock in AM5 platform for the next few years for custom builders.

Another take away from me is the lack of people complaining on public forums until now. Goes to show that the old saying "You can't get fired for buying IBM/Microsoft/Intel" (delete as required) is still valid.

Of course AMD to an AMD and mess up their launch. Delayed until mid August now.

So what you'd still buy Intel even though their chips are failing.

Of course Intel being Intel their chips are faulty.

A little humor dude. You can see my thoughts on the subject 4 posts up. If I'm anyway slanted it would actually be towards the minor players in the CPU and GPU markets if I was being honest.

I'm guessing the Intel mess is making them extra cautious too. TBF it's not really off pattern, releasing in Jul would have been early compared to the last few generations and the relatively mild uplift this gen of ~19% IPC with no real core boost is a bit underwhleming. It's nice but closer to a refresh than next generation, compare that to the massive base and boost clock jump from 5xxx to 7xxx last gen (alongside reasonably similar (a bit lower) IPC uplift). To me this generation will be AMD's to lose based on the Intel issues but true dominancy will be based on the X3D parts releasing later, and now closer to the mainline units. I didn't wait for (or eventually replace with) X3D last gen but I will be this time around I think.

All true. The more reputable sources are reporting that it’s not a performance issue but more quality control one so while interested to hear with this is by mid August no one will care as owners will not be effected. AMD do need to this go well form them and they do not need some of the previous hiccups to trip them up.

The major talking point for me will be pricing and less so performance. The 7600/7600x could be set for a huge price cut. A lot of Intel owners thinking about switching to AM5 and AMD could make it easier and more appealing. I’d even be interested to see what the AM4 pricing will be. Really hope AMD goes for it here.
