Thats the model I was looking at too!. I'm on the fence regarding burn in. Not sure if its over-exaggerated.

Richersounds have an offer on Phillips OLEDs at the moment. Check out their forum on here.

Mine is fine with burn in. I use it daily due to working at home. If I was to leave the room even going to the toilet I have a black image opened at all times that I just click to full screen so the screen is completely black when I'm not using the screen. As I said I do that as even if I went to the toilet sometimes you get side tracked so saves the screen. I even open it when I look at my phone as you can get side tracked while on a phone too. But as I said I use it 7 days a week and have had zero burn in issues.

There is also a OLED screen care in the Tv's settings that I run every now and then that's suppose to prevent burn in too as well as me watching the screen with the black image.

I was toying with the idea of an oled, but burnin worries scared me off, so I got a qled instead. 42" Samsung QN90B, it's worked a treat. The size is perfect too.

Where is the best place to buy GPUs at the moment. I'm looking at Amazon. Are there any others that compete and deliver to here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,634 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

with Brexit we're kinda limited in Ireland but have a look at a German retailer, CaseKing

Also, check hagglezon for the best prices in all the Amazon sites in Europe. .de, .fr, .es, .it etc. all charge for delivery but you can still come out ahead.

Thanks all, I'll keep an eye on those other sites KOKiki. Looking to upgrade the 3060ti to a 7800xt/4070 type of card. Ideally around €450/500 which probably rules out nvidia.

Geizhals.eu for price comparisons Europe wide.

Not all sites deliver here but on the prices page it will reliably state which of them do.

Nearly got scammed trying to buy a used GPU on FB Marketplace.

Guy was offering me to "pay half now, pay half when [I] receive it." 🙄

Pity. It's hard to find a good deal here compared to what I see online.

Was the guy based in Mayo. I had a close call with a guy a few months ago over a cpu

He was in "Cork" but no presence on LinkedIn & his friends list was all from Malaysia or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,298 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Is LinkedIn the place to go to verify if somebody is real now? The more you know.

I get sad when you see videos showing how you can build a pc using second hand goods from the likes of LTT and I'm like "not in Ireland you can't"

Anyone use an OLED monitor for work?I WFH a few days a week not sure if its a deal breaker for an OLED monitor.

Friend of mine uses his 48" LG TV for it, he loves it & would never go back. That said, his desk is massive.

I use a 42" LG OLED TV as a monitor and gaming on both PC and Xbox. Without issue. You get used to the size very quickly.

I've been using a LG Oled TV for my game system for about 6 years. The first was a B7, very early in LGs screen protection improvement efforts, and when I handed it off about 3 years later I could only see burn-in by looking for it with a test video. That was replaced with a CX which after 1.5 years was replaced (moved downstairs to TV duty) with a C1. Zero burn in on either.

    Thanks all.

I am looking at 34” Alienware ultrawide oled or 42 LG C4 TV. I'm just concerned using it for work tasks work from home. I am a heavy user on excel and snap a lot of windows on screen

Heads up, Black Friday deals have started on Amazon. Picked up a new PSU and case just there.

Wat started as just wanting a CPU upgrade has now turned into a full rebuild bar the GPU for me!!

Just waiting on the 9800X3D to be in stock at MSRP and I'll have all the parts I need

Still doing some research regarding a new monitor. Anyone regret moving from 1440p to 4K?

I have a 4080 but seems even the 4090 struggles at native 4K on AAA games.

I'm gaming at 4k for years. It's so long I forget what graphics card I was using back then all AMD. Mind you the three most recent cards I can remember all bought brand new were 5700 XT, 6900 XT and currently 7900 XTX.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,185 ✭✭✭_CreeD_

It depends on what you mean by struggles. I'd consdier 60fps a minimum, 90 comfortable and around 120fps more than enough for me. So struggles from my pov is 60 or less and that does happen occasionally on badly written or optimised games. I'm not just lumping anything that doesn't perform into that bucket but from experience the games that go that low almost never have the visuals to justify it with some outliers.

Anyway the difference between 1440p and 2160p is not as big as from 1080p to 1440 but it is there. I moved to 4K about 6 years back and do not regret it at all. As long as you can accept that you will want the top of the line per-gen cards to do it justice (again especially with detailed RT), it will stay an expensive habit.

I just basing my post based on this video I saw when researching monitors.

    https://youtu.be/dikwjBBt3EM?si=onTM_LAlNNPmcrqE

TLDR - You will need to accept that you'll need to use upscaling when playing AAA games maxed out in order to get 60+ FPS, reviewer didn't specify if this includes RT, but imagine so.

Tbf I'm pretty content with 1440p, just seems all the recommended oleds are 4K panels.

I don't want to get into the habit of upgrading every generation 💰

Wow. Not sure I'll be recommending NZXT anything from now on.

(I know this is their operations in USA, but I remember a few threads here asking about NZXT BLD / buying PCs through rental schemes)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭minitrue

I think the key nugget is that things seem to have kicked off after they took on a $100m investment and they subsequently fired people to outsource stuff. So while this is fairly specifically about the PC rental service it suggests the company has changed and not in a good way and it's very much worth avoiding across the board … unless perhaps if there's a 90% off liquidation sale and even then you would have to be ok with getting a lemon ;)
