That unusual if Amazon would say that royal mail would deliver to a Irish address,?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭Jim_Hodge

That's true. The tracking usually states An Post.

My daughter has an electric toothbrush we got off Amazon a few months ago and it's faulty (won't hold a charge), got onto Amazon and they want it returned. I explained I couldn't use an post because it contains a battery, but cs rep insisted it would have to be returned and they'd cover any costs.

So do people have suggestions how I can return this £20 toothbrush with a battery to Amazon UK? Apparently no expense will be spared to get this faulty toothbrush to Amazon

I've used UPS Standard a few times for Amazon returns without issue. It should cost about €12 for a parcel of that size.

I'm in an apartment block where they usually have to call me to deliver.

this item went missing last week (but was "delivered"). I complained and they sent a replacement.

Now this replacement was also delivered.. to me! It says "delivered to Joe Bloggs" on Amazon. But I can't find it.

What the feck are they up to. Sometimes they call and it goes smoothly, they call and I pop outside and get the item. Other times they just don't bother. I'm guessing they threw it over the wall into a ditch? I checked the ditches btw it's not there. Sometimes they don't call and the package magically appears inside the main hall, where nobody has access to except residents.

Now I have to contact Amazon again and ask them to send the same item for the 3rd time.

Luckily it's only some toiletries so they won't think I'm a scammer or anything. But what if it was some expensive electronics or something. Fcuk this.

    Anybody else have this problem?

Maybe a neighbor stole it. Why aren't Amazon giving the item directly to me?

Would really appreciate some advice on this issues as I do not know what to do next.

    1. Ordered a computer monitor from a UK based third party seller through Amazon UK

    2. Got a message from DPD saying customs charges were due (I verified it was not a scam)

    3. I decided that I would not pay the charges as they were too much, and thought item would be returned to seller

    4. Got a notification from Amazon stating that monitor had been delivered to me (that's unusual as it had not been)

    5. Contacted Amazon and they told me that monitor had been delivered to me

    6. I contacted DPD and they told me that they had returned the item to the seller and provided me with evidence that they had done so

    7. Contacted Amazon many, many times and they do not care at all that DPD have confirmed that the item was not delivered. All they keep saying is that I will have to fill out a police report

    8. I tried to contact the third party seller, but it is impossible/they are ignoring me.

    9. Spoke to the Gardaí they were sympathetic but said it is not a criminal matter so I can not fill a report.

I am down close to €400 and I have no idea what I am suppose to do next. Thank you for anyone who read this far.

    Hi all,

I used a parcel tracking app to track the delivery of my Amazon package from the Netherlands. (Post NL)

It updated yesterday to say my package has arrived in the destination country (Ireland)

Has anyone any idea how long it will now take to receive my package now?

    Thank you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭Jim_Hodge

It's what it says. It's now in the country. I guess you don't buy much online.

Maybe ask your debit / credit card provider to initiate a chargeback. They will ask to ensure that you have exhausted all efforts with Amazon so keep a record of correspondence and they'll also want the DPD proof of returning the item back to the seller

The best way to avoid this in future when ordering from Amazon UK is to ensure that the item is dispatched from Amazon. That means UK VAT is deducted, Irish VAT is added on and there's no other surprises.

    GOOD

    ALSO GOOD

    BAD

Do a charge back on the card you used to purchase, should be straightforward if you have proof that DPD returned the item

Anyone hear if the Amazon centre will be in Enniskillen or Sligo or just speculation?

“At a business meeting that I attended, there was talk of attracting the likes of Amazon to Fermanagh. The issue was that we were competing with Sligo and we could lose out to Sligo,” Mr Crawford explained. “That was as far as it went. Nothing was guaranteed at that time as Fermanagh was competing with Sligo [for the site], but if negotiations have progressed since then that can only be a good thing."

Still not possible to order any non digital goods on Amazon Business if Address in the Republic! This is just weird....

"We are unable to dispatch non-digital items internationally to customers identified as businesses. Please choose a domestic delivery address to proceed.

You can visit your domestic Amazon store to access millions of products for delivery to your domestic address."

Apologies for waking up an old topic but I suspect this is still the same situation? Im in the same boat after opening a Business Prime Account, ludicrous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭dollylama

I don't think it was ever resolved and last time I checked, quite a few were experiencing the same restriction

You can still order through a business account on Amazon.de however there are shipping restrictions on many items, it seems there's slightly less of a range of products than the UK site and they charge shipping by weight from what I can tell so it adds up quick on larger orders

I noticed a very small few items are one day delivery for me.

What I usually do is Ctrl + F and type in "Tomorrow" to find the items. But this is not super convenient.

    Is there another hack?

I thought there would be a filter for this, but can't find one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 276 ✭✭scrotist

I noticed a very few items have next day delivery. I was looking for phone cases and saw the otterbox cases would be delivered tomorrow.

Is there a filter or hack to find items like this?

At the moment, I am just pressing Ctrl + F to find the word "Tomorrow".

    Hi all,

I've ordered a package on Amazon and the tracking number is from Whistl.

Anyone familiar with this? Is this a courier or is An Post delivering my item?

I have no idea how Amazon does this, I ordered 9 items (way cheaper than in the stores here) and they split the order into 7 packages (all with Amazon Logistics).

  • Technically formally TNT post, TNT express is part of FedEx now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,049 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

Must be to do with with which Fulfilment Centre they're in. I don't mind when Amazon do it but have had experience of other UK retailers splitting orders and sending individually - & An Post charging €3.50 + VAT on each one so all savings wiped out.

Are you a prime member? They seem to aggregate deliveries a little more if you don't have prime.

Yeah, Prime member, but still, it's madness.

But then again if the Prime Driver gets time for 7 parcels allocated and just has to do one drop, it's better for him too because he get's a little break, those guys really don't have it easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,263 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

You can add to that relatively cheap items that Amazon are sending singly from warehouses in Europe - more madness?

Cheapest free single item I've received recently (from UK) cost me a whopping £1.38.

I used to wait till I had a few cheap items to make up an order but don't even bother now. Down in Waterford so An Post delivery and I just think to myself it keeps the postman in a job.

Thanks so do they deliver themselves or do other couriers like Fastway actually do the delivery of their packages? It's just I've never heard of Whistl before, lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭dollylama

A few years back Amazon used to allow you to select to group deliveries into one shipment which reduced delivery charges if I remember correctly. They no longer offer this and just ship items out at random... which - unless you're paying import fees per delivery - doesn't affect the customer or the price they pay but I imagine it increases costs for Amazon so I find it strange that they removed the grouping option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,049 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

There’s no additional import fees on Amazon UK once item “dispatches from” Amazon.

I want to order a phone but Amazon are saying that someone will have to be here to give the One Time Password. I don't want to have to take a day off. If it were coming via AnPost I guess I could collect it from my Post Office but I have no idea who Amazon will use. Any suggestions please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,263 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

Never heard of that but a couple of times Amazon have said someone had to be in to sign for an item but it never happened. Item just came in the post as usual.

It's used for high value items & seems to attract fraud according to posts online.

I actually found the same phone much cheaper on Amazon Italy & they don't use the password system.

    Hey all,

    Quick question

I've ordered from Amazon, delivery is by Whistl.

Tracking my item using the tracking number provided an update saying

" Item process by Whistl. "

    That was early this morning.

    My estimated delivery date window is;

    April 12 - April 30.

So does it look likely I could receive the item this week? Coming from the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 276 ✭✭scrotist

I find whenever an Amazon package goes missing and is never delivered, Amazon support send me a new one within 5 seconds on the chat, no questions asked.

I just had a package go AWOL, and it's probably the 3rd one this year. When I was in the chat I was worried that they might think I'm a scammer.

AnPost tracking says it has been "out for delivery" for the last 4 days. Mod: <snip> Less of the allegation please.

Anyway, they never seem to have any issue sending a replacement instantly.

Makes me wonder, do you think they fine / charge an post for these missing packages? I definitely would if I was Jeff Bezos. Just give the customer whatever they want and then send AnPost the bill.

Fecking waiting over a week for this to update. Took 5 days for it to ship in the first place.

Does stuff get stuck here often?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭Jim_Hodge

I found slight delays with Amazon stuff from France and some even arrived while still shown as being in France.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,364 ✭✭✭jj880

Did you get any notification from an post the package was in Ireland while Amazon showing in France?

If package has an post tracking ID usually I get a text message saying item to be delivered next working day once it lands in Dublin…

Normally wouldnt be arsed but I need this VR gear for a new headset asap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭Jim_Hodge

I never get An Post texts. Never went for it. I'd need the phone turned on for that! (No mobile reception at home).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,505 ✭✭✭VG31

I had two packages depart from France at 12.30 pm on Friday. Both were due to be delivered on Monday. One was delivered today, still no sign of the other.

I reckon Storm Kathleen might have delayed the crossings. I've experienced similar delays with Amazon packages before when there was bad weather.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭Yggr of Asgard

if you sign up at AnPost for my account you can choose to get email notifications instead of text messages.

As long as the sender transmits either the registered phone number or email to AnPost you will get an email when AnPost receives it and when it’s going out to be delivered.

Very useful as it also allows to redirect in case you are not home etc.

Thanks, but I'm happy enough with using the tracking on Amazon. Nothing is ever urgent and there's always someone home, or the postman knows where to leave it.
