I unlocked the spear but never used it.

My support weapons for big things is mostly Expendable Anti Tank or the Recoilless Rifle.

I tried the Railgun but it was taking too many shots to kill things. (mostly because of my bad aim)

I only noticed last night you can change your gun and armour from the hellpod screen before you ready up. When you are selecting your strategems press square and you get the weapons menu.

In case you forget to go to the little monitors. Handy as I have a bug that resets my load out after a reboot and I always forget to change it before jumping in the hell pod.

Intel updated in game a few days ago, in addition to the recent flying bugs the bots are getting gunships and we're getting some kind of dedicated AA.

This really is how to do live service. So much fun and engagement from the Devs and players. Lots to do, lots to unlock, lots of stuff you actually want to unlock, lots of free warbonds, lots to work together on, lots of players in the community that's friendly and helpful.

The live service being a warbond with armour and primary/secondary weapons once a month, and then stratagems drop randomly during that month is great.

What could be described as the original live service games were like this, big bang at the start with an updated and then constantly adding stuff to keep people engaged. After "live service" became a term they all turned into just dragging it out and making it a chore which was made worse by some needing you to do stuff now or never.

We got the mech during the first month, and then after the second warbond dropped we got a pair of new stratagem weapons recently.

Leaked video of people spawning the second mech with the 2 autocannons, and what I like the look of most a little cruise missile stratagem drop pod.

The drop pod lands and as normal buries itself in the ground with a weapon popping which is a laser designator, but after you take that a man sized missile rises up from the buried pod like your own mini ICBM. You walk off across the map or where ever and point the laser designator at whatever (even far away) and that missile fires and fly across the map to hit it.

Still not got the buggy which is another big thing coming at some point.

Patch today they raised the level cap to 150, but any xp you got over 50 counted so I started today off at 67.

They also added big ass robot walkers 😭

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,499 ✭✭✭✭Varik

    And robot gunship.

they are kind of like the flying bugs they've a special spawn and fly out from that but unlike the tiny mass of flying bugs you get a couple big shooty dropships.

Hi all. Just both my son Helldivers 2 on the PS5. I'm looking to buy it on PC so I can play with him. It is €28.59 on cdkeys.com and €39.99 on Steam. Do you think there would be any issue playing multiplayer Co-Op if I bought it on CDkeys?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,572 ✭✭✭EoinHef

Nope, I bought it on CDKeys and regularly play with friends on Playstation

You'd both log onto the game and then one of you generates a friend code ( can't remember if that the name), it's a once off code to allow you to join other players you aren't on your friends list. They tell you the code and you search it and join.

Once teamed up you can add each other to the games own friends list to make it easier in future, for you on PC this list would be all your steam friends plus now your sons PlayStation account and for him it'd be his PSN friends list plus your steam account now.

Thanks all for your help. Went with CD Keys in the end. Followed Variks instructions and was up and running with the young lad in no time. Really enjoyed the game. It's handy having a seasoned player with you to help with mission objectives and power ups at the start. Not used to as much recoil when shooting as opposed to other shooters I have played.

Recoil/aiming is linked to movement. So when you are running it's terrible. Stop and it gets better. Take a knee or lie down and it's very solid on most guns bar the very heavy machine gun.

Sony taking serious flak over the announcement that every Steam player has to create a PSN account to continue playing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,499 ✭✭✭✭Varik

Steam page said it was required since even before launch, they just not implemented it yet. Probably waiting for that new psn system that gor shown off with ghost of tsushima.

Can somebody eli5 what the big deal is?

I don't have Helldivers and I don't plan on playing it. So I am 100% out of the loop, but like reading up on drama.

But can you just sign up for a PSN account and that's it? Does it cost money?

Think the steam refunds really hit Sony where it hurt, rare to see Sony backtrack

That's pretty much it but it's more that Sony changes the terms and conditions for people that purchased that game. Also as a result people in 150+ countries would have been locked out of the game they purchased legitimately.
