And there's the danger for Australia with this ultra conservative approach. 9 runs from 82 balls and then out, Labuschagne contributed nothing to the innings in reality and Australia are still 192 behind. They don't need to play like England but they can play a bit more aggressive and get some runs.

Some catch by Root. At full strength, dipping and at some speed off the edge of Labuschagne’s bat.

England needed that. Labuschagne looked a little aggrieved about something and was quite animated walking off. Wonder if something was said, or did he just get annoyed with himself at the shot he played. ? Face like thunder now in the pavilion.

    awesome catch.

Smith already has more than Labuschagne.

Only 54 runs scored in that session and the one wicket fell. Not exactly riveting.

It took five tests but we've had our first relativity dull session in this Ashes.

Can't agree with you there, he absorbed 80 balls from Eng quick bowlers both last night and first thing this morning. Not the easiest times to bat. Blunt them and wear them down, loads time to score if they can keep wickets.

This is a proper match with definite tactics, no way the Aussies should be drawn into bashing the ball just because the viewers or crowd are bored.

Mic just picked up he was complaining about the light… “ it’s so dark “

Khawaja out now. Aussies in trouble.

Big break through for England with the wicket of Khawaja, Australia have scored 62 runs and lost 2 wickets today but are still 160 behind.

I recall it as one-note bowling but with batters being skittish and wickets still falling. Maybe that's through rose-tinted specs though... at least it didn't last beyond one test.

I know that's the theory but if they start to lose wickets then theory goes up in smoke.

Four down... time for a counter offensive from the Aussies now you'd think.

There goes Head, out for 4. Australia paying the price here! They need to put a decent partnership together and start to eat into the runs. 4 down, 156 deficit.

4 down now. Australia paying the price for an extremely low scoring rate. Only 66 runs for 3 wickets today.

Always something wrong with the Aussie batsmen’s gloves, helmet, bat…. Etc…. Every session they have a 12th man sprint on for some reason…. Will they ever get through a session where the only stoppage is for the scheduled drinks break… ?

    Some shot by Marsh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,442 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    Aussies crumbling here.

Anderson has just his 5th wicket of the series. A bit of luck as Marsh inside edges on to his stumps. Marsh had been looking good too.

With no Green, the Australian tail is a little longer.

5 down now still trailing by 132

Jimmy needed that one. Looked kinda emotional after taking it.

Going south at the moment for sure, where do we go from here.

Big wicket that for England. Carey next in and his form has dropped off. Australia in a bit of trouble here, they'll be doing well to match the England score at this rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,442 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

The ball clearly rolled off Carey's bat there but the 3rd umpire showing they are entirely dependent on ultraedge to make decisions for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,442 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    That's shocking by Carey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Very soft wicket from Carey, especially after hitting the previous ball for six.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,039 ✭✭✭MFPM

Stupid shot by Carey...Australia still 113 behind...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,039 ✭✭✭MFPM

    Australia sinking here...

Starc, Carey, Marsh chucking their Wickets away
