No like there's nothing to click 😂. I have 5g and VoLTE but no wifi calling. Maybe some day!

Yes, the June 2023 fixes this. I have a Pixel 7 / Eir and my 5G is working again.

Any bargains to be had on the 7 Pro anywhere? It is €900 on google store.

At this point, I'd be waiting a few months for the P8 Pro. You can usually get decent free gift with it, which can be sold on if you just want to bring the cost of the phone down. There will also be loads of P7 Pro's available second hand around then.

No, but plenty of us managed to get it by purchasing through the Google Store in Germany.

This is exactly what I did. I am now the proud owner of a 7 Pro. So far so good.

Is it still the case that there is no WiFi calling available on the Pixel with Eir?!

    Now that Eir 5g works.

I am about to purchase a Pixel 7 but no WiFi calling with Eir is a sticking point due to coverage in my area.

Cant say for the 7, but its not an option on the 6 with my Eir billpay sim.

Do these come with charger? Cheaper than Amazon Prime Day if so.

Any reason to go for the 7 over the 7a?

I can't imagine so no - none of these phones come with chargers in the box any more. (Cable only)

Only deal on Amazon at the moment is the Pixel 7a + 30W Google charger for £399 (~€466)

Sadly I recently managed to kill my Pixel 6 & have replaced it with a refurbed S21+. Happy with the new phone but will probably check out the Pixel 8 later in the year. I did notice that wifi calling showed up straight away on the Samsung with a GoMo SIM which is the same as Eir I guess. I don't have 5G on the SIM as it's one of the original €9.99 deals.

Currently have a pixel 6 pro. And thinking of getting the 7 pro in the Google store. It's the signal strength/coverage an improvement over the pixel 6 pro?

    Thanks

I'm now leaning towards the the S23 plus. Better modem, network signal bigger storage too. And similar price at the moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,287 ✭✭✭TheRona

Where are you getting it for a similar price? Most places would still be over a grand for the 256GB model, and the P7 Pro is €739 at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 965 ✭✭✭1jcdub

I can get a new S23 plus with 256gb on adverts for 769. Only 20e me than the 7 pro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,287 ✭✭✭TheRona

Ah OK. I guess if you go down that road then the P7Pro is under €700. Still near enough to the same price.

I dunno if I'd bother with the P7 at this stage anyway, the P8 is just around the corner.

Apparently the 8 pro will have the same network modem. And I find the 6 pro network coverage very poor. The 7 pro is only suppose to be slightly better.

Still on a Pixel 3aXL. (Going to wait to see what the 8 brings)

Reddit comments always mention the bad signal strength of the 6. The 7 was meant to be an improvement.

But still not even in the same ball park as Qualcomm Gen 2 in the S23.

I love the Pixel experience but signal strength (and a consistent signal) would be up there as the most important element of a phone for me

Good price for sure though on the Adverts S23 Plus

Yea I'm going to give the 7 pro a miss. But I'm leaning towards the S23 plus over the 8 pro. The main reason being is the 8 pro will have the tensor chip again, be it a newer generation. The Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is far superior

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,120 ✭✭✭wassie

Curious as to why is a superior spec CPU alone important in your decision to buy a phone?

Google have stated in the past Tensor is not about winning benchmarks, its about a chip that performs well. Their system on a chip design allows them to focus on the prioritising the machine learning & AI powered features such onboard photo-processing and translate.

I have to agree with this, I went from OnePlus 11 (which is SnapDragon 8 Gen 2) to Pixel 7 Pro and I don't notice any change in day to day usage when it comes to performance. Maybe in side to side comparisons there will be fraction of a second uplift on one processor vs the other.

In my opinion the camera on the Pixel 7 Pro is amazing, the zoom, stabilisation and post processing are a step above.

SD 8 Gen 2 has much faster charging options, I do miss that.

That said, there is always that irrational voice in your head that thinks Benchmarks are king!

Much better battery life would be the only real reason for me, the S23+ does look a far superior phone everywhere though apart from cameras but they wouldn't be that far behind the 7 Pro.

Do people like their Pixel 7?

One of the few phones I am considering but no real ringing endorsements here s😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,287 ✭✭✭TheRona

I have the P7Pro, and it's pretty much the perfect phone for me. I get a new phone every year, and the only thing that will make me leave Google is if they screw us over on the pre-order bonus again. That stuff pisses me off.

Currys ROI have pixel 7 + Pixel Buds Pro for €599

For anyone that can go north of the border:

Amazon UK has it as low as £430 (~€500) - ROI delivery attracts import fees.

Currys in UK also has Pixel 7 + Pixel Buds Pro for €499 (~€580).

    Hi guys.

Wondering where the Pixel 7 Pro can be got at the cheapest price? It's a birthday present for the wife.

I think the extra screen size of the Pro swings it over the 7 or 7a.

    TIA
