The Ami isn't officially for sale here in the Netherlands, but a Citroen dealer is quoting €11,950. The Opel Rocks-e is listed on the Opel website, from €8,950. I have seen the Rocks-e advertised as electric driving from your 16th (which is allowed here without a licence). Private lease for €89 a month. 😏 I still haven't seen one on the road though (or cycle path..)

Aixam and Ligier micro cars are death traps, especially when part of regular traffic. I've never understood how anyone can put up with such a tiny diesel engine screaming away. Having more all electric microcars just seems to make sense.

Those secondhand Ami`s seem very expensive. Last time i looked the basic model was 6,900 euro in France. 900 off with the French electric car grant.

For €6k it's not an awful lot more than a high end electric moped. Good buy at that.

Jeez, one of those secondhand Ami`s has 52 thousand kms on the clock since 2021. How is that even possible on a vehicle that only does 50km between charges? Looking for ten grand as well.

For that to be possible they would have had to charge it and drive it for 1040 times. It must have been constantly on the go maybe rented out in a town or city to tourists.

Top Gear tonight has them driving around Paris in the Ami, as well as a new electric version of the Dutch Carver and a prototype Israeli City Transformer, which transforms its wheelbase between narrow and wide at the push of a button.

Carver looks cool. They all look cool. Thought they were a bit dismissive of the vehicles saying "you're in traffic... you're in traffic" ignoring the environmental facts along with the price & running costs.

    Loved the Ferrari though!!

I think I would prefer to have the Citroen badge on it myself because if you have it with the Opel badge on it you will always know its not by the original company that designed and made it. I am sure other people would let you know that too. Also I really like the Orange colour scheme myself and only Yellow or grey is available with the Opel version.

I am surprised there is not a Fiat version yet.

Wouldnt bother me tbh. Seeing as we can't seem to buy either here!

Not available in Germany either, until July 2023. From €8k though, that's almost a decent price for it. That speed limit is a deal breaker for me though. Anyone see that latest vid from me and my Ami? They're overtaken by a 40 year old Renault 5 going uphill on a mountain road. Dangerous stuff for all involved.

There is a way around the Amis speed limit do. I am sure I see a video on You-Tube about it but did not watch it. Might have saved it to watch later do.

You have to remember what it is though, it's an urban car for inner cities with 30 km/h speed limits. Or if you live where I live in the middle of no where, a joke car.

Speed limits in most urban areas are generally 50km/h. And the problem with these is that people are using them to travel around a fair bit, like those lads. I agree it's fine in cities, if you'd avoid any 80km/h or 100km/h speed limit roads. Would be so much better if they had two versions, one that can do 45km/h and one that can do 80km/h. Just like the Twizy.

Not sure if the chassis (if there is one) would be capable of 80kmh.😊

Brakes/suspension likewise. I like the machine but it is not really designed as a car as such.

Yeah, good strong chassis underneath. Not sure the rest of the vehicle could deal with a crash at 80kmh though. This thing is designed for pottering around towns at slow speeds.

It's a motorcycle. I'd say you're safer in it at 80km/h than on a traditional motorbike!

There is not many cars that could have a crash at 80kph and come out in decent shape. Sure in a Volvo S90 the driver and passengers might survive but the car would be a total right off if it was a wall or a tree it hit.

Most cars are designed to be safe up to 40mph whatever that is in kph 62kph is ?

After that it depends on how lucky you are and what you hit.

Yes the Ami would not be the best in a crash so best not to have a crash in it lol at least not a big one.

No it's not its a quadracycle and yes it's most definitely safer than any motorcycle.

I don't think we have the urban concentration for these to make sense. Our insurance system also punishes using these as a 2nd car. Owning one of these for use around the Dublin suburbs should lower your insurance, instead you'll be paying a whole 2nd premium and have to build up an extra no-claims bonus.

But they are not designed like a Twizzy you are constantly missing the market these are not cars.

Was in Rome in July and you can’t move for falling over one of these or a Twizy or similar. But the most popular thing approaching a regular car was a Smart.

Wow. How did they even get it going fast enough to do that? Must have upgraded the software to make it faster somehow.
