Yeah. Would love to know which departments they will be placing people in

Well done to all that passed the latest round of interviews & to those that didn't don't take it as a failure and definitely request feedback & a copy of the interviewers notes for the next time. I failed the first time I tried but thankfully passed this time around. Can anyone that has received clearance/offer from batch 2.5 say what department they have been offered & if blended option is available straight away?

This competition opened around a year ago, any ideas if there will be a new one opening sometime soon?

The 2020 panel I believe is still in place. This current competition was opened to fill Dublin vacancies and would only go to Regional if nobody was left for a particular location on the 2020 competition. I think this one expires 2024. Current department I'm working in has extended it's internal HEO panel which is due to close soon as a new internal HEO competition is going to get ran shortly

    Hi Lads,

i posted there a week ago re Clare/Limerick interviews , i rang them thursday 9th and emailed them and was told that no department had put a request in for anyone in Clare/Limeirck. The next day i got an invitation to an interview. So what does that say.

anyway a year later I got a date. I was wondering could some of you on the board that have finished with there interviews give me the topics they received fro presenation. Was reading PFG and there are 12 missions and about 6 topics under each mission. Shaking in my shoes with this one. and have looked at competencies in so long.

your help would be much appriicated

Mine didn’t particularly focus on competencies lots of quick fire questions. Testing how you deal with interruptions etc. I took one of the sub topics under the main header and went with that, make it your own. know your research you will be questioned on this. Above all stay calm and get your best answers out . Good luck!

I was tagged and it was ignored.

Just know that the questions they ask won't be structured like the interview in terms of competencies but you will still be marked using the competencies. They will give you a list of the ones being assessed so make sure you are hitting them in your report/presentation.

Seems to be happening a lot, do you mind sharing what department you were offered.

    Where are people being placed?

Do you find this out when you get your clearance paperwork? I was tagged too and really hoping to stay where I am!!

Hi Mary Irish, There is no way of knowing what topics they will give you for the presentation. My advice would be to do your interview prep and then work on presentation when you get the topic. Try pay attention to the competencies being assessed in the presentation and word it towards meeting them! I thought my presentation was great but barely scrapped a pass when the results came in and I think that's where I fell down.

Sorry to hear that, have you been given your department yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 The_Taxman

Nope, clearance is just a self-declaration form then they ask your dept for a reference. No word on department til after this process

Thanks Lads for taking the time getting back.

I'll take all your advice on board.

    Much appreciated.

    Where did you get placed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 pinkelephanto

Just reading some of the comments. I understand the competencies are examined through the presentation but is the interview still structured as per usual with board members taking a competency and questioning you on that or is it a free for all? Random questions with no interview structure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 littlemiss1982

My interview was competency based and each interviewer took 2 competencies each.

I can only say mine was a free for all no structure at all so seems to be a mixed bag depending on the panel.

Has anyone heard back from PAS about where they are to be assigned?

I only got my clearance email today. How long does it take for you to hear where you are being placed, does anyone know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭Skweefie

The day I sent back my clearance docs I asked which dept I was going to and PAS answered. I didn't hear from HR unit until about a week before start date. However, each dept will differ in how they do things.

I'm number 26. Are you still waiting on your clearance email

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 Bumblebee.

Sorry my replies aren't tagging your comment, no I'm in the early 40's haven't received my clearance yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭isabella5

They seem to be moving quick. So hopefully not long. I know they've looked for reference from my department. I've been tagged but PAS are saying there's no guarantee with how they allocate positions
