I think Aileen got lucky that her £1500 from the back half of last year lifted her into seed 7 over Noa-Lynn, she might have a chance at making the final as opposed to an almost guaranteed QF exit.

The PDC contract is up at the end of the 2024/25 championship. Wonder will they move somewhere else then. The O2 or Wembley Arena could be tricky enough getting the availability

I'd expect it to be a commercial decision, in the same way they left the iconic Circus Tavern. If they can get a better deal from someone else or if they feel they can sell more tickets than the 3,000 limit of the West Hall at AP etc. I doubt they feel any loyalty to the venue. I'd liken it to the same way the Gibraltar events (darts, snooker, pool) got abandoned once the government incentive money stopped.

Having said that, I'd be surprised if they can't reach agreement to keep it there.

They tried the Stephens Day sessions a few years back and it didn't work so that's another obstacle for them in terms of scheduling

The main point is that they seem to want that delineation of the early rounds pre-Xmas and the later rounds post-Xmas. It especially avoids needing to split Round 3 across the holiday.

Problem fixes itself after this year, so they'll probably leave it as is.

i.e. if they keep the exact same structure of the final on 3rd January then the final will be a Friday in 2025, Saturday in 2026, Sunday in 2027 and a Monday (bank holiday) in 2028.

This year and last year were the times they should have done it different. Last year they were hemmed in by not wanting to have darts sessions clashing with potential England semi-finals/final in Qatar. This year no such excuse, not good.
