Audi has had some famous faces in their ads including actors rumoured for the role

This is fiction ... and we did not see a body ... there are certain definite onscreen deaths that are real ... Darren in Love/Hate, the shark in Jaws, Bond villains like Kananga ... etc ... but others are not definite ... we did not see Bond in No Time To Die actually get killed ... it was presumed he did and highly likely he would have in the real world ... but these films are not the real world ...

One thing is certain ... James Bond will return ... and there are 4 ways to do so ...

    # 1 Mostly likely the way is to go for a reboot ... a new actor plays Bond with no link to Craig's portrayal ... it is a new set of films with a new story ..

    # 2 much the same as # 1 ... but they do not say one way or another if it is a new Bond ... they just have the same support people like Ralph Fiennes in place with a new actor with no mention of any previous story .. this is what pre-Craig Bond did most of the time ..

    # 3 So Bond survives the bombings and his 'Covid' can be cured ... he escapes the island and gets treatment for his virus and severe burns ... some plastic surgery is needed which explains the new actor ... the pandemic is controlled and the 'Covid' is not as bad as was feared ... that along with some set piece action all happens in the lengthy pre-title and then after that it is a new mission and story ...

    # 4 They do a Bobby Ewing on it and the whole/or at least a part of NTTD is a dream ... Blofeld is still alive and is the main villain ...

    # 5 The film is set between movies ... depending on who the new actor resembles ... a Connery type may have a film set in 1966 ... a Moore type in 1972 ... that Italian assignment perhaps mentioned in LALD ... etc ... most likely would be a sequel to OHMSS ...

I feel 4 is unlikely and would be stupid ... 3 also would seem unlikely as they want to move past Craig's era ... 1 or 2 or a combination of them is most likely ... I feel they'd reboot Bond but would not go into any great detail introducing his backstory ... 5 could be an option but not one the marketeers would like as Bond films are vehicles to sell the latest cars, posh watches, etc ...

Bond's onscreen 'death' was deliberately left vague because the series has not decided on what happens next ... we will prob get 1/2 but they will keep their options open ... Bond is not like Terminator or Star Wars where even seemingly dead characters can get a second life because it is sci fi ... one thing is certain ... James Bond will return !!

"we did not see Bond in No Time To Die actually get killed"

Nah, we definitely did, he was vapourised ffs

If Bobby Ewing can do it. All they need is a dream sequence.

There will be no dream sequence Craig's Bond was killed by a crap load of misses raining down on him hence no body.

There will be some mention of "the last Bond" make the name an alias. Maybe even a quick shot of all the Bonds with others on a wall of killed or retired agents.

I hope it's 1 or 2 it worked fine for years.

We never needed an explanation as to how Bond has been on the job since the 60s before. The current trend of over explaining and back stories has gotten tiresome.

It will either be DC back again, it would be a box office cert.

Otherwise, I can see the producers doing a woke style reboot. Maybe a very camp male actor.

The problem I feel ... is the Bond franchise began to take too much notice of its competition ... began copying its competition ... examples ...

So Shaft was popular ... let's do Live and Let Die as a sorta Shaft Bond ...

So Bruce Lee is popular ... let's make The Man With the Golden Gun a Bruce Lee style Bond ...

So Star Wars is popular ... let's make Moonraker ...

So Miami Vice is popular ... let's have Bond in that world in Licence to Kill ...

So Batman Begin's is popular ... let's reboot Bond with an origin backstory ...

Not to mention all the remakes of Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice in the franchise ...

Maybe it is time to get one of the good Bond books not already made into a film ... and make it really based on the book. My vote would be for Kingsley Amis' Colonel Sun ...

Tis quite easy to continue with James Bond and the story is believable if James Bond is an alias for whoever is 007.

E.g. Tom BattleCorp is Tom BattleCorp in in civilian life. He then joins her Majesty's his Majesty's secret service, drops his real name and assumes the name James Bond and becomes 007. If he gets killed...........the next person in line is promoted to 007 and assumes the name James Bond.

We've already seen in-universe that that doesn't happen, with Nomi being 007 in NTTD... there's no problem with just doing what they've always done before, and simply resetting with the new actor. Sure poor auld Felix Leiter has lost a few limbs along the way that were miraculously regrown after the next reset 😅

James Bond was never a continuation of anything before, so there's no need to make it that way now. All they have to do is get another bloke in, rinse and repeat, like they've been doing for the last 60 years.

Felix is amazing not only regrowing limbs he can change his colour and appearance but then again he is a master spy.

    LOL

Yeah. Fuck you Jimmy Bond. Felix Leitner FTW.

If that was the case, Craig's character in NTTD would not be called James Bond because he has left the service. They'll just do a reboot, just as they did in 2006 was Casino Royale. In fact, even if Bond didn't die in NTTD and even if Craig's Bond ended his tenure still as an active agent in MI6, I think they still would have had to do a reboot anyway because Craig's Bond has far too much baggage for another actor to deal with in his tenure.

Its got to the stage in general that some people say they fast forward through car chases in any movie, a staple of a Bond film, there are just too many elements of a bond film that have been done to death.

Called it. He's now the bookie's favourite.

Backed him @ 50/1....... I would very much like if he got the role!

Him starring and his wife directing would be a great combo I think.

I wouldn't think so. Unless they are looking at a 'Latin' looking Bond?

I don't even think it was on set, I remember hearing the audition was in her house. He's closer in age to their eldest daughter.

But back on topic, I think he'd be a good Bond while also being a very bland choice if that makes sense.

They need someone edgy like George Lazenby or Sean Connery a bland Bond would be a mistake.

If they want to get people into the cinemas for another James Bond film, they will have to go back to the formula that has worked in the past.

A gorgeous leading lady, with a brooding quippy leading male, and a psychotic bad guy at the helm of a secret crime organisation, with a plan to hold the world to ransom.

There will have to be some filming in exotic locations, some opulent events, high-speed chases, use of some burgeoning technology, and of course some spy gadgets.

The essence of a good bond film has always rested on the charisma of the leading characters with entertaining dialogue.

In my opinion the leading male has to be over 6-foot, and has to be both attractive and physically impressive. Daniel Craig was always a bad fit, neither good-looking nor tall enough and lacking an athletic build. I think Ryan Gosling would be fantastic.

I think the leading lady could be a relatively unknown actress, could even go with two or three ladies, maybe one foreign spy, one MI5, and one bad guy (Bilie Eilish available?).

The leading villain could be anyone with screen-presence, and actually maybe someone like Michael Fassbender could be good.

The support staff wouldn't really interest me, the MI5 boss, the Moneypenny character, and most other characters probably don't matter much.

I wonder if they could come up with a new henchman or henchwoman, like Oddjob, Jaws etc.

Current Events around the world could be used in the storyline if they wanted to move it into the modern day. A story around getting into Russia and disabling a nuclear threat might be interesting.

I think Henry Cavill would make a good James Bond.

Thunderball was technically the only one that got a proper remake , (and nearly got remade twice!), useless fact , Kevin McClory the guy that owned the rights to it lived outside Maynooth (in what is now the K Club)!

Cavill officially done as Superman as of tonight and out of The Witcher as well.

That leaves him free to take on a major franchise.

And each alias had parents called Andrew Bond and Monique?

I read somewhere that Craig would only commit to the last film if the character dies at the end, which seems a bit selfish, but they needed him more than he needed them.

The island where Bond appeared to die was a missile centre where the doors needed to be open for it to be destroyed, it is not beyond the realms of film possibility that he did survive.

Apart from that, I’d say just a reboot with no reference to Craig’s tenure in the role, each new actor’s films will be seen as a standalone series with linked stories like Craig’s Spectre.

Incidentally, Henry Carvill was considered, and rejected when Craig got the gig, considering the length of time Craig lasted, and Carvill’s age, it’s hard to see how they could plan for 5-6 films with him in the role. Craig really looked his age in NTTD.

Cavill's about the same age now as Craig was when he first got the part, so it could be a good fit now. Cavill back then was only in his early 20s, so might have been passed over due to just being too young for the part, which makes sense since Bond should be someone who's been around a while to get that sort of position. Should at least be early to mid 30s when first becoming a 00. At 39 now, maybe Cavill's a hair too old, but maybe not. Depends on the story they're telling. If they go for the approach of telling 1 broad story arc, then 3 or 4 films is enough really.
