For summer, yea. Low roof angle generates a lot in summer. An EV in the next couple of years will take some of it. And I’m ok with exporting some of the year, regardless of FIT.

March and April were close to consumption, so the marginal months look like they can be pretty mostly covered.

That's a beast of a system. Just added 2.3Kwp DIY (exactly South facing) but that only brings me up to 7.6Kwp.

Your rocking there for sure - that EV can't come quick enough :-)

Nice one, great to see us eeking out every possible drop of PV, as I'm driving around I do find myself with aspect envy these days

Sorry only saw this post now. Yes nice to hit over the mw for month considering was quite cloudy for lots of it. Two inverters - 6kw solis 5g hybrid and 2.5kw goodwe standard single string inverter. Solis has 6.98kwp of ground mounted panels and goodwe has 2.88kwp DC on roof

Is it just me or last year's August was absolutely brutal?

This year might even hit 900kwh

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,363 ✭✭✭bullit_dodger

I'm nearly beating my July figures and we've 2 days left to go - and july was decent enough. Right now I'm on 547 units and I did 559 in July.

Current Actual compared to forecast is 121% for August, and 2 very sunny days to come!!

Well the numbers are already in - August is my best month beating May's numbers.

May had higher highs (cooler panels) but August just had more days above 20Kwh for me. Notably - my import numbers are up this month (from 28Kwh to 102Kwh) but I expect that July holidays meant i just used less power that month compared to this month.

tldr; From here and into winter - my need to use Night rate and Load shifting will increase - the days are drawing in and sunshine is NOT getting over the trees early enough to fill battery or heat water anymore - so i need to boost with the Eddi more. My oil tank has been idle for months thankfully - and i dont expect to need to fire it up until November - unless i find it cheaper to heat water during the day. Getting a fill today to top me up before it gets crazy.

Too soon, still generating for a few hours......

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,730 ✭✭✭yankinlk

I have removed all South facing obstructions - and felled a West facing obstacle. Im keeping the remaining ones topped... but the East Facing early morning trees are loved by the missus. I might convince her to top a few next year. I know which ones are in the way after observing for a year. :)

(90.3% of total consumption, self produced)

Total consumption 710kWh. 218kWh discharged from battery. 291kWh exported

69kWh imported (no day/night meter, but bulk imported during night, early morning)

Array 1: 4.1kWp SSW with Winter Shading, 3.3kWp NNE

    Array 2: 2.73kWp SE, 0.91kWp S, 3.64kWp SW (all neighbourhood shading/optimised)

    561kW imported (two EV household)

    1,146.4kWh Generated

    938.4kWh consumed

    320kWh diverted to Eddi

    376.9kWh diverted to Zappi

Approx 2427.2kms of range into the EVs

    Highest was 55.5kWh

    Lowest was 14.5kWh

    80% self sufficient (excluding EVs)

    63% self sufficient (including EVs)

Monthly cash saving based on average daily load and all non-load items like dishwasher/washing machine/immersion at night rate, €95.45

Great month but skewed by install of Array #2 mid month on the last day of the glorious weather. Most happy with the PV into EV rate. Milestones in the month include passing the €1k mark in electricity cost saving since inception, passing 10MW in production since inception, breaking the 50kWh daily generation and passing the 1MW in monthly production.

Been a good month. Two installations. Installation1 is the original one (1.52Kwp East/3.8Kwp West) in south dublin.

Installation 2 is the 2.3Kwp south facing one the shed. Only operational since Aug 5th or so. Still did an impressive 211Kwhr which at ~€0.30/unit, that's a nice €60 assuming I was to use it all myself (which I know I didn't and a lot of it got FIT exported). I'm on deemed export, so it's much to a muchness for me.

Some milestones: Broke €1,000 in overall savings since I put the system in, in late Oct '21, which would put me on track for a 7-8 year payback for everything (installation 1 only)

For those of you who are interested, south Dublin had a pretty good month compared to forecast.

I had better/higher months of course (May & June) but August felt relentless with day after day of 20-25Kwhr. Smashing.

Great month. Thought I might get my first MW but no…6.9kwp South facing.
