Hello! I was just perusing boards for the first time in ages, with this particular forum being a favourite. I have an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and am thinking of selling.

I bought it new in 2012, on the bracelet, and have a couple of Isofrane straps (1x orange, 1x black) to go with it. Full box/papers etc. It is 45.5mm, but doesn't wear as big as it sounds. It is a beaut, but not getting enough wrist time; I have a vintage Submariner that won't give other watches a chance :)

Edit: Oops, I forgot to say I'll send you a PM. Price is ~€4k, inclusive of additional straps etc.

Am thinking of getting back into the IWC world of pilots. So if there is anything floating around..

I looking to move on 2 watches, I have an incoming and it is "getting ridiculous"(so have been told!).

    Damasko DA34

Was looking to sell this before and never pushed it as it is a nice simple piece. It is from 2018 and I am the second owner. This and the Sinn below are worn in a rotation with a number of other watches, so it gets worn infreqently.

I cannot see any marks on it, this is my second Damasko and they do not mark. Crystal is clean with not marks. Strap and pin buckle are Damasko. Strap is leather and lots of life left in it. I have a rubber Damasko with Damasko pin buckle which I will also include.

I have box and papers (including receipt).

This has the Damasko hardened case that is proprietary to Damasko. There is some other Damasko tech such as the use of Viton seals in the crown.

This is a robust bit of kit and a great everyday wearable watch.

Not much Irish love for Damasko here.

    I am looking for €700.

Next up is a Sinn 856UTC

This is from December 2010. This is fully Tegimented case and bracelet (althought not labeled as such), newer versions have the T triangle.

Another hard to mark watch. There is a slight mark on the bezel which was there when I got it but I did not notice it at the time and it does not bother me too much. Also on the deployant there are some hairline marks.

UTC function allow for 2 time zones if required.

    Nice watch and also robust.

I have boxes, Original Sinn warranty card, outer and inner box, booklet, CD (?), 2 extra links, receipt from November 2020 and 10 bar pressure test from November 2020.

    Am looking for €1,350.

Only interested in a face to face. Based on the Northside of Dublin. Willing to travel a reasonable distance for meeting-up.

    Any questions please PM me.

    Thanks

If I hadn't literally just bought a Sinn U2 that is playing pass the parcel between Ireland and Norway, I would be all over your 856. That's a very fair price IMO and whoever gets it is getting a very underrated watch IMO.

I wish I had the the cash on hand to get that Sinn! Unfortunately the recent purchase of an engagement ring has any watch budget eaten up for me for the next while.

Good luck with the sale Gavin

    My Solas Starlight for sale:

I know a lot of you all have this already but for anyone that did miss out - it's not getting the time that it deserves and honestly I probably won't ever wear it which seems a massive shame, especially with all of the love and effort put in by Diyu.

    Additional Salmon Leather strap included.

Usual adverts tax applied - open to offers.

Gavin I suggest putting your Damasko on watchuseek sales corner with EU only in the title. Ireland is just too small a market for them.

Want to sell my barely worn Lew Huey Phantom.

Nice sandwich dial. Has the upgraded DLC coating. Lovely domed acrylic crystal.

Come with original brown leather strap and original nato.

42mm case. Seiko NH35 automatic, winding and hacking movement.

No marks that I can see, has lived in watch drawer for majority of it's life. Looking for 250.

    For full specs see https://www.wristwatchreview.com/lew-and-huey-phantom/

@ mods I've read the opening post on this thread but not sure where this situation stands do advice below.

Business partner is selling a watch that might be of interest to some on here. He will not list it on adverts or anywhere online and has just mentioned to a goldsmith friend that supplies the market.

So can or should I post the brief details here for contact by PM only and I can then do the intros off line or is that not allowed?

    Thanks

Assuming he doesn’t want to list online as he is trying to protect his “relationship” with his AD? Doesn’t want to sell to a dealer as the dealer will flip etc.

Hie much cash is he looking to realise?

124060 (no date sub 41mm) retails at €8650. I presume he has a full set. How much above retail (if anything) is he looking for? Some people on here have claimed recently that these will be selling around or just above retail now. Personally I don't believe that. I think you should be able to get a lot more than retail (at least 30% more) even in a quick private sale.

  • Registered Users Posts: 285 ✭✭Gavin1

I fear you are right. I may put them both on TZ-UK and post it from Newry. Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭scwazrh

Not a hope it’s around retail price .black Steel subs will be the last to feel the pinch. You won’t buy a full set for less then €11k and be extreme lucky to get one for that .

Anyone notice the batgirl on adverts ? Seller looking for €14250 and all the adverts “watch dealers “ …. creaming themselves over it

He didn't buy via an AD, just doesn't want the hassle of random calls and security risks. Not looking to make a profit but would like to get out for what he got in for or close to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭Fitz II

Dont think anyone suggested they are selling at retail grey now....but give it some time and a older 6 digit sub will be in or around retail, as retail goes up and grey goes down. 11-11.5k seem about right private....chrono has mine at 13k but not a hope.

Ah those lads hoover up any bit of a bargain, and the newer lads do it fairly aggressively.

    How much does he want?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,665 ✭✭✭traco

He's hoping for something between the numbers you quoted.

He's fairly switched on to the Rolex scene, much more than I would be. However I think your numbers are about right based on knocking back the prices I see on chrono24.

He has two offers from dealers here at your lower figures which again supports your pricing. They will probably try and flip on for an extra 1-1.5k if they can stretch it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65,707 ✭✭✭✭unkel
    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Yes, the 30% above retail I suggested would make it about €11k, he might have to drop that a bit for a quick hassle free deal with a decent buyer. Or a bit more if selling to a grey dealer. What did he pay for it and when? Obviously if he bought at the height of the market from a grey dealer, he is not going to get back what he paid for it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

its a Batman but yeah seems to be below dealer buy price. They clearly see a market with profit in it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

Sell it on adverts. Only deal with users a few years old. That have 50 plus feedback minimum. Don’t give mobile out if possible.

Or take the easier dealer sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

Full set on c24 for 13k from French dealer.

11.5 k for a quick sale seems pretty good.

Interesting, isn't it. Definitely a hyped watch and people including dealers are falling over each other to offer about €1k under the cheapest asking price one on C24 in Europe. Goes to show there really isn't all that much negotiating room on C24 asking prices for Rolex steel sport if you take into account the C24 fee.

That €15k offered is 50% above retail. Not as high as some have sold for earlier in the year, but most certainly not a market crash. Not yet anyway 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭scwazrh

Definitely not a crash yet and summer has for the last few years always a been a bit slower on price .I’m biding my time for a Pepsi .€20k seems to be common price at the moment but I’m hoping for €15K in the near future , not sure how realistic that is but I’ll wait and see.

Said I'd pop this up here and see if theres any interest.

    https://www.adverts.ie/sports/omega-speedmaster/27497254

Selling my Speedmaster, Ref 311.30.42.30.01.005. Hesalite model, full set. Selling due to a lack of wrist time. Watch is in excellent condition - purchased from an Irish AD in 2017 and serviced last year. Keeping excellent time. Asking €5k but might be swayed by a part exchange for something more interesting😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,807 ✭✭✭micks_address

Id say a more realistic price is 4k at the moment.. you might get a bit more but these aren't going north of 4.5k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

4K watch unless you get very lucky. Trade against another over priced watch might be easier pill to swallow.

Here is another lad also at is misguided to think it’s a 5k watch, won’t take images, and won’t allow viewing as such. Good luck with the sale there on that lol

    https://www.adverts.ie/27687028

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,807 ✭✭✭micks_address

yeah there's a seamaster up there at 4800 which is a 4k watch every day as well. obviously folks buy at retail and dont expect the fall then.. you'd easily pick up a mint seamaster on chrono24 for around 4k.. offer it on adverts to an irish seller and they'd call it a low ball offer.. nevermind the chrono seller is paying fees of 300 or so out of that as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,932 ✭✭✭✭banie01

That lad is utterly deluded if he thinks that keeping it in a safe deposit box is an acceptable reason for using stock photos and knocking back viewings.

I reckon €4k - €4.5k on a private sale is about right and if I was selling? I'd be looking to crystallise that sale asap as prices are on the decline IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭Fitz II

These are not cheap watches but neither are they rare to be for sale. I can never understand why people are so passive agressive in their ads on adverts. Just screams that they are dickheads. I on the other hand am a dickhead but I mostly hide it well.

Gents what would be a good price currently on a 2021 Submariner 41mm Date plastics still on and full set? Been offered one and hard to know is it worth buying in the current market (obviously it is more than retail!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

41mm is the new model right?12.5k would seem a good price at the moment but market is in free fall and no Economic pain has been felt yet really.

Stable market graph for that model below. Consider that inflation worldwide is running like a train at 5-12 percent in the big developed economy and this “asset” is still falling like a stone.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

C'mon spill the beans, how much have you been offered it for? I agree with 893bet that about €13k would be a good price. It's under €10k retail. At that price of €13k you're probably reasonably sheltered. There's a few for sale in Japan on Chrono24 with an asking price around that level, but the cheapest one in Europe is a good bit more than that.

The above graph posted by 893 is deliberately posted to prove his point that these watches have come down in value in the last 6 months. They have. But this gives a more accurate picture of price development:

You can clearly see the watch had been more reasonably priced until the silly bubble earlier this year, which is now burst. The watch is back down almost reasonably priced again, perhaps coming down a bit further but still worth well over what it was a year ago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭Fitz II

New model sub smells of 13-14k to me today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,630 ✭✭✭OmegaGene

chrono prices are much like the inflated adverts tax

here is a funny one, someone made an offer on a watch to have a chat and long story short the person thought the photographs were from a catalogue and then started questioning how a watch can be 2 years old and in such good condition and they want to know my secret.

There are some odd people about lol i have never heard someone complaining the watch isn't battered enough

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

No. Purpose of my graph was to demonstrate that the market is not “stable” despite the ramblings of a Miami retard in glasses or a drink Irish man in Italy. Your graph shows the same downward trend.

Its stable in that it’s falling for any (or at least most) of the over retail watches. When those graphs plateau for 3-6 months then they are stable.

if they ain’t pointed upwards at 10 degrees then they are loosing real value as inflation eats them anyway.

Calling any kind of a bottom now is crazy when prices are only back to what they were at Xmas 2021. They were stupid expensive then but our ceiling and perspective changed.

    Similar to oil or esb.

At 1 euro a litre. Oil is grand price. We are used to.

Goes up to 2 euro a litre-oil is crazy

    1.80-creeeping down a bit

It will drop to 1.40- and everyone will be oooh oil is cheap again.

(now obviously a lot of watches are largely stable in that the never really went up or down in the last 3 years but it goes without staying must of the discussion is around the “hard to get” watches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

The biggest problem with 24 pricing is it’s 90 percent dealers. This distorts the market price in private sellers heads.

yeah you might have the cheapest on on C24 as a private seller. Just under the lowest dealer by 50 quid is the classics. But I can buy from that dealer direct and shave off another 5-10 percent. And they have over heads to cover and warranties etc to honour. Private sellers need to get **** real to be honest from what I see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭Fitz II

Have to agree with 893bet trend is downward not towards stability, but lets play a game of pin the tail on the donkey of where we are right now.....I think its a load of bulltrap. And we have had the bulls out in force reassuring us its safe to buy again, or telling us that its only effecting certain subsets of the market. When a pepsi is 15k (one on adverts at the moment for 20....so 18.5k realistically) how is a black sub going to hold 13k?

The return to the mean will be 2019 prices adjusted for inflation. Market is a bit weird at the moment cause sales are few and credit is easy to get allowing dealers to bumble along, but once the fire sale starts the last few years gains will be gone. Tax and vat return time coming in the next few months, and then the christmas buyers will have their pick of the rotting meat from the dying dealers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

All this talk of “just a correction” and “market is stable for the last 11 days” stinks of denial/return to normal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,932 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Agree, and it's something that I think is becoming more evident in any talking to folk when trying to do a deal. The squeeze on prices is 2fold now IMO. There is significant downward pressure on nearly everything and it's being compounded by inflation eating away at both realized value and free cash flow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,148 ✭✭✭893bet

Not seeing the same pressure. I made a few reasonablish offers on a few watches on C24, for curiousity sakes . No one is desperate yet. But that will come potentially.

If this global recession occurs like it could there is potential carnage with job losses etc…..and the price of daily expenses being threw the roof (unlike 2008-12 when there was “value” around the place). But I am not a “recession wisher” like some to be clear but I think things are fine balanced in the wrong direction slightly unfortunately.
