Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I wonder which is better. CO in the Civil Service or CO in the HSE..

Closing date 15th June - been on the HSE panel since a November last year - still waiting to be placed though low double figures - received 4/5 expressions of interest for Tipp but nothing further - seems like a slow moving panel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭Caoimhe2

Some panels can move so slow I'm on a panel since last August and received only a handful of expressions of interest, on another panel I applied in February interviewed in April and I have just accepted an expression of interest that was sent out so just going through the recruitment process now

What kind of questions could you expect to be asked at interview for a HSE Clerical Officer? Any suggestions or links would be much appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 SimoneVe

Hi, it is a competency based interview for example team skills, customer service and etc. You will have to use STAR method and use examples from your own experience for example how you dealt with a difficult customer (so you have to tell them what you actually did)

Mainly competency based questions but I got a few general questions about the HSE eg how many regions within the HSE are there, how many people does the HSE employ etc

Does anyone know at what point referees are contacted? I've just been told I was successful and I'm now on a panel but reading some threads on here that doesn't really mean very much! I'm working and my boss really doesn't want me leaving and I'm just worried he would be contacted and find out before I've even been offered a job..I'm sorry I probably sound silly but I've never been on a panel before so im confused.

  • Registered Users Posts: 127 ✭✭daffodill50

Are you successful based on this recent campaign or from an older one? I think your referee's won't be contacted til youve accepted an offer

What is promotion to grade 4 opportunities like?

There hasn't been much in terms of Grade 4 around the area, I am working in...I have a Tusla ( treated as Internal HSE) Grade 4 interview in Cavan ,where I'm from, today.

Most jobs in Meath I've seen advertised have been Grade 5 and above, a few ,Grade 5 positions whose managers I've done work for and whom I'd have probably stood a decent chance at least getting on a panel.

Has anyone heard back since the assessments yet? Or does anyone know how long it takes to hear back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭Fluffypatcat

No I haven't heard anything yet. I'm not sure how long we'll be waiting either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 35 navan21

I just got the email from cpl there. I didn't do well unfortunately. 77 was the highest score of anyone and 20 was the lowest. My score was 37. It says I meet the eligibility requirements but I'd imagine, as there arent many positions, that only the top scorers will be called for interview!

    Hi

Thanks for that I have accepted a post my references all completed forms and sent them back any idea what is next seems to moving so slow

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭Caoimhe2

    Hi

I am around the same score as yourself so not holding out much hope. Any idea how long the panel will be live for. Does anyone know can your score change after interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 652 ✭✭✭GaGa21

Around the same score too but I am hopeful. It may be just a select few with the high score and we could be the average, fingers crossed!

Any links to interview questions or hints and tips welcome. I'm trying to make a career change but feel the lack of experience is going against me regardless of what I score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Hammar

The process moves very slowly unfortunately,If you've completed all the forms with regards references and health declarations etc, They are obviously in the process of contacting your referees.

Once that's completed, Your line manager should get in touch, might be a few other bits of paperwork and then a start date will be agreed.

It is frustrating, took me about 6 weeks from when i accepted a post,to when i started.

I just got my results also. I scored 55 so happy enough with that!. The process doesn't seem too clear from here on out. Does anyone know can you carry time from the civil service and public service or agency work for the HSE that could be the deciding factor for me

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 33 Lolagirl1

I also got my results back from cpl, scored 56. I’m still not very hopeful as it seems people here on last years panel still waiting to be called.

    Hey

Just heard someone that scored just over 60 has an interview next week its moving quick

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 ScubaSteve254

I only scored 49 with the highest total score being 77 and lowest being 20. I have no idea where that puts me, especially Sligo/Leitrim. Not getting my hopes up.

I scored in the 70s and interview is early next week. Its moving fairly quickly.

I've been working in the hse for 2 years on specified purpose contracts from the 2017 panel.

Last panel took the guts of a year to go from application to interview/panel numbers being given out so this is pretty surprising how quickly it's moving.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 Edlarkinm

Got 60 myself but no interview as of yet but sound promising! Best of luck to all 👍

  • Registered Users Posts: 123 ✭✭Mr lebowski

It is moving fast. I got an interview date already and I'm sure a lot scored higher than me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 Edlarkinm

Just got an interview for next week so it's deffo moving fast!

  • Registered Users Posts: 127 ✭✭daffodill50

Hi, yes you carry your time from the civil service over I have a friend who recently carried 6 years as a CO over to HSE. You just need to ensure you've a statement from the departments youve worked in clearly outlining your dates of service.

Anyone any idea whether there has been any movement for Limerick? Has everyone called so far been in the Dublin region?

    Hi

Someone I know was over 60 for meath and they have an interview next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭SouthWesterly

Went on the panel 5 years ago. Got an email to say I would be called for interview shortly. I'm still waiting on the call😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 coolshoes47

Currently, a grade 3 in LA. Got called for an interview (score was 56), so will post questions when I'm out the other side. Just working through the competencies, kinda hard to figure out what they can hit me within 25 minutes...

If anyone has any hints, I'd be grateful!

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭Tinchy

    Hi All,

I scored 51 on the online assessment and have just been called for an interview so it is moving very fast I didn't expect to hear anything for months. It is a teams interview so if anyone has been through the same any advice would be great.

I'm not clued up on the clerical officer process, I take it if I'm successful in the interview I will be offered the clerical role I applied for in the first place in my area and if not am I put on a panel? Or could I be offered something else completely? Are the roles always Full time as the one I applied for was Part time?

    Thanks all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭eoh70

Looking for interview tips too if anyone has been through the Teams interview process? TIA

  • Registered Users Posts: 33 Lolagirl1

Scored 56 and got notification of interview next week, I’m in Tipperary. Anyone gone through the process already?

I'm meath and got 37. Fingers crossed i might get an interview at some stage!

  • Registered Users Posts: 35 navan21

Do you mind me asking what county you are in? I don't remember it being advertised as part time but I may be wrong.

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭Tinchy

I’m in Sligo but the post was in swinford Mayo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 803 ✭✭✭jkmanc1974

Went through it last year and on the Tipp panel since waiting on a call - fast paced interview 2/3 people interviewing - general questions about the HSE then go through competency based questions - only about 25 mins long

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭honerbright

I've been through a few (including this one) now. It's very competency based and they will ask further followup questions on your competencies so be sure to know them well. It's good to use examples that fit the needs listed in the prep document as well as you can. It's very fast paced as jkmanc said, the time absolutely flew past.

Don't forget to have your ID ready to go and have a glass of water with you - you'll need it!

Thank you for the info! Gosh a year is a long time, hopefully you get the call soon! first time applying for this so a bit unsure of process.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 803 ✭✭✭jkmanc1974

Yeah as I mentioned somewhere it seems to be a slow process especially compared to other more in demand parts of the HSE such as healthcare assistants and general support staff, best of luck

  • Registered Users Posts: 7 wickowmom

hi scored in the 50’s and have an interview, would be grateful if someone could post examples of questions asked during interview. Are they all competency based?

    thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭meath12

I scored 56, have my interview tomorrow. If anyone has any tips on what kind of questions they ask I’d really appreciate it, feeling pretty nervous now 😬

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭meath12

Did they ask many questions about the HSE, I’ve seen someone previously said they ask how many regions within the HSE and how many people the HSE employ, do they ask much more in dept than this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭honerbright

I didn't get any questions like that, there were some questions about GDPR and the complaints procedure and where you could work within the HSE though this could change for each group of interviewers.

The interview follows quite closely to the prep document. Mine had the 3 competencies mentioned as most likely to come up and they tell you who will be asking what and they introduce the competencies too so if you have your examples prepared you can launch into them. They asked a few questions about my answers too so be prepared for that.

My board was really nice and it went by pretty quickly. Best of luck!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭Caoimhe2

    Hi all,

Does anyone know after the interview are you placed on the panel from your score at the interview or from your score on the first assessment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭honerbright

I checked the additional info document from a grade iv panel I interviewed for recently and it says your panel number comes from the interview. The assessments just gives the order you'll be invited to interview in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭meath12

I actually did not get asked anything about the HSE, I was disappointed because I had prepared stuff for it. It was all just the competencies. Anyone know how long it will take to find out results?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7 wickowmom

Would you mind posting an example of the questions they asked you please? Just trying to figure out how they are phrased? Thank you
