ISAR Highway has docked in Dublin port. It spent a day in Zeebrugge before this. Hopefully loading up on lots of nice MG ZS EVs.

Good chance that is the right boat for a mid July delivery. Gives them 2-3 weeks to get them registered and delivered and for the dealer to get them ready too.

It'd be great to see some stock land and some ZS on the road. I wonder how many orders are on the books

I know in general they hit their expected annual sales for 2022 within 3-4 months and had to slow them down. The demand has surpassed their own expectations.

Not sure how many are Irish orders. The ISAR Highway has been docked in Dublin for over 24 hours. Hopefully that is a good sign that it had a full load of cars to unload.

Im half tempted to go down to Dublin Port with my drone and fly it around to find out!

I'd love if you did ! I was looking all weekend to see if there was any update from Dublin port.

Some of the UK ports are great on Twitter with updates and pictures of cars rolling off.

Isar highway is on its way out of port again after 36 hours docked. Lots of time to get a big order off. Either that or the crew where in the pub 🤣.

Mid December, for the order the dealer said was due in march. Status now shows "on the way to the dealer" so I assume that means it's shipped. And hopefully was in the boat this weekend and I have it mid July.

But there has been so many false dawn's in this saga.

My cousin ordered one January 6th ,he was going to pull out so I took the order - deal instead, I'm told I might possibly get one by end of July

    Who did you order from?

I ordered on 05/01/22 from Linders, was originally April\May but then changed to November and still holding on that.

I'm going on Holidays at the end of August and would love to have it for that but cant see it happening unless it just turns up out of the blue.

Still waiting on a clear call from the dealer that it is ready to collect, but was talking to MG Ireland's social team last night to see if they heard anything about deliveries and what the "on the way to the dealer" status means. They asked the sales team who said they think that means it is in the country and getting registered to send to the dealer.

He ordered from Shiels in Galway January 6th but I took over the order a few months back as he got sick of waiting

There was an empty car transporter next to Linders this morning....couldnt see obvious new stock, but here's hoping it's for ye!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Might be a new MG model. It is so advanced it had a cloaking device 🤣

Wouldn't mind seeing a transporter full of ZS heading for Galway.

Just back from a week in the UK, plenty MG must have arrived recently with our neighbours across the sea as I saw a lot of them in Wales and Northern England

On a different note , Tesla everywhere over there ,definitely the top selling EV from my observation?

There looks to be alot of stock landed, but loads of Standard range on the road over there also. Bar the demo i drove i havent seen 1 facelift model on the road over here.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'd ordered in December for an early Feb delivery, and have been told I'll have the keys in my hand by the end of next week (possibly sooner). On the other hand, I've been told a lot of things so far, so won't hold my breath!

I think you must be the first to have been given a firm (relatively) date! Great news.

What I've been told is that it landed in Dublin last week/end of the week before. MG will be checking it over, then releasing it a transport company, who will deliver it to the garage within 7 days from when they get it. From there, the garage will fiddle around with it for a few days (my words, not theirs), and then I can have it. But I'll believe it when I see it!

I take it all back - just got a call to say I can collect it tomorrow!

Might criticise them here and see if it works for me 😉

What colour / spec did you go for?

I'm being shy in case strange boardsies leap out and accost me, but I went with the Exclusive. I think it's going to be raining tomorrow, but I can try out the sun roof on Wednesday!

Nice, delighted to see a car is actually here 😂. Fingers crossed it is ready to go tomorrow.

Make sure they do the software update for you. Reports of fast chargers bricking them and needing to be towed to the garage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Well how did the pick up go? Everything checked out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Whoo whoo car has arrived at the garage. Should have it ready to pick up next week.

After lots of false dawn's and moving dates. I should be spinning about in it next weekend.

Delighted to hear that....and just general news on the cars being delivered. Be sure to post first real impressions etc.

Great! Enjoy the cars! I've seen 2 (what I think are non-demo cars) out in the wild - so good to see more arriving!

Busy few days so I haven't been on Boards, and haven't done huge mileage (kilometerage?) yet, but some first impressions in random order:

    1. Love it. Comfortable seats, comfortable driving position. The finger tip controls are in good places.
    2. There's no big manual book in the glove box, but you can download a PDF (which I'm only going to do now).
    3. The built in SatNav is being weird, but I've seen a fix for it online which I'll try later today. Essentially it you put in your destination, press go, it starts voice directions... but then the dot on the map doesn't move from your starting position. I've read that going into the satnav settings, switching off "dead reckoning" then resetting the info system by pushing down and holding the physical "home" button until the MG logo appears will fix the issue.
    4. There are no hooks in the boot for bags, but there are two little side pockets. I'm going to add two small command hooks on the side and see how that goes.
    5. I'm adapting to one pedal driving (with KERS on 3) faster than I thought, but I still have my foot hovering near the brake - don't quite trust it yet :)
    6. I usually listen to bluetooth audio while driving, but every time I start the car it reverts to radio, which can blast the ears off me. Simple to change to bluetooth with one press of the SRC button on the steering wheel, but would like to figure out how to default it to BT
    7. The iSMART app is quite cool - gives you a quick review of the car status from your phone, and allows you to lock/unlock the car from your phone, and turn on the aircon for 10 minutes before getting into the car.
    8. Even in Eco mode (which I've mostly been using) there's plenty of instant oomph
    9. Haven't done any mad high speed cornering, but so far it seems pretty solid on corners.
    10. Suspension handles rotten bumpy roads very nicely
    11. When you start the car there's a "configure" option on the homescreen, which I've kept skipping so far. Hope to have some time this morning to do that (after doing the SatNav reset) - no idea what's in there.
    12. Everyone who's seen it so far has admired it. People are impressed with the interior quality - they were expecting something "cheaper" feeling.
    13. I've ordered a "frunk" tray from EV Accessories Ireland. The model they sell is suited for a 13mm gap between the bolts (which mine has). Apparently some cars have a 17mm gap. The frunk just provides a little extra storage space. Not short on storage space in the boot, but I might keep some "emergency" kit in the frunk for easy access.
    14. The reversing camera didn't have "guidelines" on by default, but having been used to them on my previous car I've switched them on.
    15. I've left the Lane Assist on its max setting for now, but may turn it down. It fights you considerably (if you haven't indicated). It's been grand around town, but there's a private boreen I use which has a white line, but isn't wide enough for a car to stay on one side at this time of the year. It's short, but it's currently a fight as I drive down the middle of it.
    16. Range guide seems pretty accurate so far, but I've only had short stints on dual carriageway, I've been mostly in town and back roads.
    17. My home charger isn't being installed until next week. Unless I go mad at the weekend, my charge will probably last until then so haven't tried charging it yet
    18. Haven't tried the Android Auto yet (which was high on my "must have" list), but it worked fine in the demo model. Hopefully I'll have more time on Saturday to sit and play with things
    19. I only wear glasses while driving, so keep two glasses cases in the car. Haven't decided on a good spot for them yet. The center pocket seems ideal, but is marginally more awkward to get to. At the moment I've got them in the driver door pocket, but that means I can't keep a water bottle there.
    20. Auto lights work very well - I haven't blinded anyone yet
    21. Traffic jam assist (part of the ACC) is great. Got stuck in a jam on day 1, switched it on and it did its thing nicely. If you've been stopped a bit too long it asks you to resume by flicking the wand or tapping the accelerator, but works great in stop start traffic. Again it will take some time before I'd trust it completely (and I might never do so), but certainly a nice change after my last (manual) car.

I had a lot more very random thoughts than I realised! Does anyone have any specific questions?

Very random question - how are the cup holders? in our current car while there 2 cup holders in the armrest area, they dont really fit 2 coffee cups at the same time - its really annoying (SEAT Ateca).

On the charger install, there doesnt seem to be a big delay in fitting which is a positive, although we plan on paying a little more for a zappi charger.

Excellent to get the real world feedback.
