Ireland and Scotland appear to be the coldest part of Europe today. Got close to 20C in parts of Iceland today.

This cold plunge is affecting much of Europe. Temperatures in Portugal are also very dissapointing. Any real warmth is confined to the south-eastern half of Spain, Italy and Greece. Within the next week most of the continent should get the warmth back.

If this was the middle of January the temperature profile across Europe and indeed Ireland would have been very interesting.

A pesky little circulation has somehow appeared out no where on today's models and makes a bee line for yes you've guessed it the uk and ireland ruining what looked like a clear sunny Friday and weekend ,these things can be hard to nail down so hopefully all is not lost yet

Saw that too, fecker of a thing! 😀 Looking a lot more complex now, seems that we might be in a Col for part of the weekend, no mans land between the HP and LP, very hard at this stage to know what kind of shortwave troughs or occluded fronts might be about but the ECM is certainly showing more spells of rain, the only consolation ( to me anyway ! ) is that some of it might be thundery, an upper Low seems to be crossing part of the country at some stage maybe Saturday. Temperatures on tonight's run look a bit down on previous runs also. GFS is a horror show for the B/H Mon, wet and windy, ECM not as bad but not good either, quite wet but not too windy, hmmmm

I think we are going to see changeable charts over the coming days as the models try to come to grips with the patterns. Will make planning events very difficult for the weekend.

Lovely sunny start in Kildare. Overnight models showing still the uncertainty for the BH

Thankfully a nice sunny morning, although meant to rain by afternoon so enjoy it while you can.

another chilly morning here in Meath but at least it's dry. The outlook over the next 7 to 14 days is generally unsettled and staying on the cool side. I feel we have turned a corner on the overall weather pattern of the past 12 months, but I would have preferred if it had waited until September.

How is next week looking on west coast? I have looked at a few forecasts and it's very contradictory.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Next week is generally looking unsettled with rain or showers most days and temperatures around the mid teens. It could be a case of one low pressure after another.

We may get some dryer and warmer weather the following week for 2 or 3 days but it's looking very flimsy.

June looks very unsettled from 6th of June in the west and indeed most of Ireland.

I certaintly would not like to be planning any outdoor activities or events over the next 2 to 3 weeks until we see a big improvement in the models. There is alot of uncertainty in the models but my money is on the unsettled conditions to continue and for June to be quite a cool month. We may begin to see a warm up and something more like summer towards the end of June.

Only 49.4mm of rain recorded in my area in the month of May. Ground is very dry and a nearby stream which usually dries up late June/early July has been dry for the last week. All the rain and showers that have been predicted for the last two weeks have not come to pass here(South Tipp).

A lot of farmers around here very frustrated with the forecasts and trying to get silage made

We have reached the final day of Spring. A huge contrast from this day last year where we flipped from a cold May to summer and enjoyed a lovely June and most of July. Today is absolutely horrible here in Meath. A windy wet day with ocassional showers, dark skies and it's properly cold outside so I've turned on the cental heating. Temperature currently 10C but feels more like 5C.

I really enjoyed March and April, felt very mild throughout and plenty of sunshine and dry weather. May has been a completely different story, it started off ok but has gone down the tubes over the past 2 to 3 weeks with the past 7 to 10 days been noticeably chilly, although last weekend was nice enough. Today feels close to the coldest day we have had the entire season.

Not very scientific ... but mixed bag for May.

Cloudy, thundery skies and beautiful sunny days.

    Mostly cold.

    No strong winds.

Not much rain, despite the dark skies.

    (North Wicklow)

Need to get a weather station 😁

it so disappointing that the 31st of May comes and it’s cold. How much warmer was today than the 31st January I wonder?

January was a lovely month in Dublin, I remember jogging nearly every day in really nice calm weather with no wind. I'm coming home weekend after next for feckin' outdoor festival with camping, really hope it isn't a washout.

Although models aren't great for the next 10 days, who knows maybe the end of June and july will be warm to hot like last year, fingers and toes crossed 🤞

Sweet Jesus it's like the middle of winter.

Cold, dark and lashing rain here in NCD.

People were wondering why some of us were saying May was like October and November, well I just randomly looked up 12th &13th Nov and max for those days were 13/14 degrees and min was 9/10 degrees.

    It's currently 11 degrees here.

Looking at the weather forecast after the 9 o'clock news and doesn't look like much rain for the southern half of the country up until Monday and looks quite pleasant

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,653 ✭✭✭appledrop

I'm seriously getting worried now about the chance of good summer weather.

I had a look back there at my photo memories and every single year by the time it gets to June Bank Holiday we have gone to the beach 'properly' at least once if not 2 or 3 times.

What I mean by that is that it has reached warm enough temperatures for beautiful day at beach.

Not a chance of that this year.
