Another windy day here in Dublin, but turned out better than expected as less rain than forecast.

I know what your saying about stats Sryanbruen, but I think the issue here in North Couty Dublin has been the relentless wind that has made it feel cooler than it is.

I think it was Danno that was explaining to me that it was due to direction wind blows in early May.

Now I did notice today that although it's windy it's not as cold so maybe we are finally getting winds coming from a warmer climate.

If there is anything positive to say about the weather over the following 7 days is that it will be mostly dry, so regardless of temperature it will be decent gardening and walking weather.

I totally get you, it hasn’t felt that warm to me either.

It’ll be interesting to isolate the mean max and mean min at the end of this month and see how those rank historically compared to the overall mean which combines the two.

This reminds me of last summer in a way which was heavily skewed by unusually persistent milder than average nights.

Yep awful wind and drizzle in my face as I walk. Not pleasant one bit.

Heavy drizzle has turned into heavy showery rain in Kildare now.

Fingers crossed will be going onsite at Wild Roots festival in Hazelwood, Sligo next Tuesday, lets hope that the summer picks up a wee bit.

    Nudging 18c here in Arklow

Some sun,a few bits of drizzly showers

Overall grand so far, feels warm

    Similar to yesterday

Weather here in Meath is nothing like Arklow. Cold, windy and drizzle that would drench you in seconds. Could easily be mid November. Temperature 13C.

17.4c in Greystones. After a fine morning, the drizzle/rain has just arrived.

The afternoon is now much nicer after a horrible morning. Plenty of sun and feeling mild at last.

Well if you ever have a drab morning like that again, consider the Arklow Bay Hotel €554 for 3 nights in mid June I see 😱

Well today is an example of them not being able to forecast 1 day in advance.

Friday will be a sunny day.(met eireann)

    20220527_081953.jpg

    Actual

So should read. Sunny in the South and East Cloudier in the North and Northwest with some sunny spells later perhaps. Though it's still cloudy cold n windy too and they said that'd be only in Ulster. Since when was Sligo in Ulster.

It is clear from their own Satellite that Friday will not be a completely sunny day (met Dublin)

It's a stunning, beautiful summer morning here in Dublin at the moment.

Yes wind still there but sure used to at this stage.

Going out for walk number 2 shortly.

Currently 10.8c windy and very light drops of rain falling.

Theyv changed the forecast too. So wrong again in forecasting a few hours ahead.

    Met update

Generally dry and sunny today. Cloudier in the north and northwest though, with just the odd shower at times

However it's not just our weather service that's struggling. It's a worldwide problem. I've seen it with weather in all different locations. The whole area of weather forecasting appears to have gone down the tubes.

Lovely morning here albeit windy, will take that over drizzle any day!

After a fairly cloudy morning the sun is starting to poke out between the clouds here in Meath.

Weekend looks mostly dry with temperatures around 14C to 19C and then an unsettled and chilly week to come from Monday. Temperatures next week will struggle to reach 14C most days. We may see a warm up to more average values by next weekend.

Sunny morning but been a lot of cumulus cloud here in my part of Dublin since and that bloody wind is still having a bite to it.

An interesting stat shared with me. The 365 day national IMT anomaly is running at +1.1C above average which is the joint highest on available record, it equals this point in May 2007 which too was preceded by an unusual long run of anomalously warmer than average months like 2021-22. Of course that was broken by July 2007 which was the first cooler than average month since March the prior year. June 2007 despite being very wet was actually warm, very warm in the northwest even. Overdue cool month to occur this summer? Would not surprise me in the slightest.

Super day here in South Tipp, 20C and sun splitting the stones, tractors out in force, few pairs of shorts making an appearance too!!

GFS 12z looks mostly cool and unsettled right out to +384 hours so it's looking like first half of June is going to be cool and unsettled. June could well be the first cooler than average month this year and a fair chance August will be up there too. We will need to start seeing a big improvement into the second half of June and July. We have had a fairly good run of summers over the past 5 years with the exception of summer 2020, so we are probably overdue a poor summer for this year.

Don't mind the gfs ,the lunchtime run was showing mid 20s with the azores plonked over us till +384,I ignore that model after at least +168

I'm f**king sick of the bloody wind around here. Every single day. A stiff breeze knocking temps way down.

    North Wicklow.

    Beautiful, fantastic, gorgeous May.

Be kind to the planet people.

Cloudier than I had hoped today. Wind gone and temperature 14.8c but doubt we will break the magic 20c with all the cloud streaming from the Northwest. 18c is the temperature we go to the beach but the max I see it being there is 16c. Still if the continuous wind of the first 27 days of May is gone it might not be too bad.

    Beautiful day in Kerry, 16.8C

Heavy dew still on the grass after the chilly night. Will easily reach 20C here today and maybe a little on to it.
