I was thinking (and hoping) results might be out by Friday 6th May. Wishful thinking by the looks of it.

That's what I had in my mind too. You never know though. I think the results of the last batch were particularly slow.

Does anyone know how long it took for the first batch to get their results?

I did a trawl back and the results from the first batch were released 02/12 interviews finished (I think 19/11) going by the comments at the time it seemed to be a rather big batch that was called initially to video interview. This information could have zero relevance to the current batch of course.

I'm the exact same and I wouldn't mind I've been here before. I think this time seems like I've invested more due to the presentation 😂

Hi everyone, I'm new to boards & finding the info so helpfull on this thread. I was notified of my AP strategic analysis & interview on Friday. Just wondering can anyone give advice on the report - do you use referencing? Any examples of questions the board may ask after the presentation. I haven't got topics yet so don't know what to expect they may be on & don't know anyone who has been through this process so any advice is greatly appreciated!

same for me .. would really appreciate any advice .. impossible to know where to start!! Working on the competencies at the moment .. do they deviate much from your application form .. are there many general questions? In terms of the strategic exercise I presume you show power point slides and present .. you can read from your notes? Can anyone give an example of possible topics? Thanks everyone this is a very helpful thread!

My questions on the strategic analysis exercise were focused on what I had in my report and presentation and why I picked them. Just make sure whatever policies or initiatives you pick that you think them through thoroughly. I was told by pas that cue cards or prompts for the presentation were forbidden. I was informed you could only have a clean copy of your application form.

Agree with pinkrunners - questions focused a lot of why I picked those areas and my process. Asked some questions on implementation although wasn't challenged really on my recommendations - I know others who were though so be prepared for that too. I did use referencing. It wasn't required but I felt it important to include.

Topics come from the programme for government, so really could be anything! My understanding is that it changes for each batch.

On the competencies - you don't really get a chance to go through one example per competency in full (unless your example covers all possible questions) - they ask lots of different questions per competency area. So I would think through a number of short examples to answer the sub-competencies, if that makes sense.

By the way - I haven't received my results yet - so this is just based on my experience of the process, I don't actually know if I passed yet!!

    Hi

Just to add to what previous posters have already said - the strategic analysis will be used to judge how you demonstate the necessary competencies in judgement, analysis and decision making, interpersonal and communications skills and management and deliver of results. It is a good opportunity to demonstrate those comps and is worth 33% of the overall marks. For the interview, don't expect to give a full STAR approach so have concise ans prepped for the subcompetencies. I was in the previous batch and am nervously waiting results from interview.

Agree with all of the above. Have short answers for competencies ready. The time really does fly by. That 10 minutes for the presentation just flies by.

Congrats folks, delighted to find out I am 18 in open stream and 16 interdepartmental. Is it a long wait for positions to fill?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭crinkley

The interdepartmental moved very fast last time.

im from the last batch and still waiting for a start date, I’ve been waiting nearly 4 weeks for my Garda clearance but I have been provisionally told my new department.

I'm not too sure if there are many or indeed any after me
