Yeah, some brokers are not trading them. They're still buying though pounds though.

I was about to buy some more yesterday and all.

    Might just hold off.

Phew. What a day. Looks like buyers returned in strength.

Not really sure what the catalysts were, closest thing I could find was France backing nuclear. Not surprising really, they're about 75% nuclear and have the lowest emissions in the EU as a result.

Hope anyone that bought in recently saw their positions rise.

Wow is all I'll say. By far my biggest non crypto related green day. Not going to get carried away as we have seen the wild swings in this over past few weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,817 ✭✭✭littlevillage

Yep, the timing of my entry here has proved very fortuitous, already taking some profits off the table

(I learnt the hard way to always be taking some profits.... what the market giveth, the market can taketh away)

Excellent stuff. I'm one of these clowns that think the 'rules' of investing don't apply to them. I'll wait it out until I feel sentiment is a bit too frothy.

Another positive catalyst: Kazatomprom, the world's largest producer of uranium has announced they are starting a physical fund along the same lines as Sprott.

Strong past couple of days too, getting hit with the rest of the markets today though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Apologies for lack of info recently, I haven't been that active lately.

So no shortage of catalysts, not least of which is the above mentioned Kazakhstani fund going live. Probably too many to go over, but just a quick note that right now is a good buying opportunity if you're interested in this space.

Prices across nearly all equities in the uranium mining space have taken a recent beating after a solid run up.

I'll be adding more next week when payday rolls about.

    1. We're still early in this. The price of uranium is still lower than is needed to incentivise opening of existing mines not to mind say incentivise new production.

    2. The spot market and secondary supply is thinning by the day. Sprott have re-upped their ATM physical fund to $3.5bn CAD from $1.3bn CAD and the Kazakhs are getting in on the act too.

    3. Any further covid (or other) related delays/shutdowns will only coil the spring further.

EDIT: Quick note on point 3. Inevitable does not mean imminent (as Rick Rule often says). In my view the time scale has been reduced from a 3-5 year run to a 2-3 year run. I had initially aimed at being fully out in 2024/25, however it's looking like that could be accelerated in to 2023. Subject to market conditions of course!

Best of luck to anyone involved! Any questions, feel free to ask.

Which is your favourite uranium stock Rain?

Like if you had to pick one only which would it be?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

    UUUU. Energy Fuels.

It started out as my favourite and still is. When I first bought them the rare earth elements (REE) side of their business was not really a thing. I think the CEO, Mark Chalmers is playing a blinder so far on both the uranium and REE fronts. Price target for me is mid 20s. I really do believe it will go past that though as the hype/momentum train speeds up.

.....that said, if I was starting from scratch or rich I'd probably load up on Global Atomic, GLO as well as a joint favourite. They have so much going for them.

A bloody day for U stocks, getting fecked over by the general market. Wonder where the bottom is.

Soon enough. Week or two. Just raging I don't have more to chuck at the Black Friday Uranium sales.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Right, so the final flush down of this correction phase...Going to use my crystal ball and say it'll be this week.

Hopefully on to a new leg up and higher highs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,817 ✭✭✭littlevillage

    Currently hold 3 Uranium stocks

    Cameco

    Nextgen

    Energy Fuels

Its a wild ride. Up and down 5% or even 10% moves on a day...not unusual. It's very entertaining... (in the same way cryptos & meme stocks are).

I'm not complaining as I'm still in green overall, but I would like things to settle down a bit...like for instance Microsoft & Apple they basically go up 1-2% a week EVERY week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

You're in the wrong parish for stability.

All good holds though. Come back in a years time and they should be returning a handsome profit.

Barring another Chernobyl or market meltdown that is...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭kellyj77

Agree. Mental swings but I've learnt to stop paying attention on a daily basis. Still continuing to dca each month into it so don't actually mind the dips. Thankfully Still in green. Debating whether to put in company shares which I've just sold after the 3 year holding period into it aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Right, I can't be sure is the bottom in on this dip but today was decent enough. Started red and came back strong green in the end.

Could have just been people grabbing the opportunity and hoping for a bounce off the 200dma.

Hi all, I’ve been looking into the nuclear space for a little while but I admit I don’t know a whole lot about it as yet . I am currently looking at four potential investments here:

    Energy fuels

    Uranium energy corp

    Yellowcake

    Cameco

Does anyone have any views on these? Good or bad? Alternatives?

I also read today that the EU are probably going to add both gas and nuclear to their green list to meet climate targets in January. If so I would imagine these stocks could go on a run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Out of all the ones you listed UEC are the only ones I'd avoid. Not because they won't do well, as a matter of fact they'll probably do really well.

It's down to the snake oil CEO and team with excessive salaries, topped up even more by their management fees for running and consulting on other uranium business they've set up.

Their dilutive raises tend to go into pockets and not into the ground. I don't think they've ever produced uranium before and in every interview the CEO does he talks up their assets without ever once mentioning a timeline to production, or for that matter, even path to production. I doubt they'll ever produce uranium.

But like I said they're American, they've got 'Uranium' in their name. They'll do well.

Why Yellowcake and not the Sprott Physical Uranium Fund? Is it not available on your trading platform?

I think Energy Fuels will be huge into the future, their REE angle could see the share price at a 4x alone from here.

Cameco I think will surprise people. There seems to be a trend of bashing then lately but they are no fools.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭Ixlandia

Thanks for that Raininsummer, I appreciate it. The sprout physical fund has no price or useful information on DEGIRO so I’ll have to look elsewhere for that, yellowcake stock was mentioned here before, it seemed to be a good option also. Cameco too.

from what I have seen, the uranium market will do well, climate change commitments will see to that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

It's in the doldrums right now. Potentially a good time to buy. If I had more cash I'd be buying.

When it runs, it runs hard. Buy a day late and you could be missing out on 15%. Buy a day early and you could lose the same. I think this sector above maybe all others is a testing ground for how strong your psychological game is.

On the subject climate change it looks like the decision on the EU green taxonomy will be delayed into the new year. No doubt a lot of horse politics going on.

    Best of luck!

There's been a development in Kazakhstan. Unfortunately the country is experiencing civil unrest.

Kazatomprom are the world's largest producer of uranium and are located there as the name would suggest.

How this plays out in the markets is anyone's guess at the moment.

On one hand Kazatomprom are the corner stone of the uranium ETFs and a sell off from people holding them via ETFs could impact the whole sector. On the other hand other producers, including Cameco, could see money rotating in. And Cameco tend to be the other main holding of the ETFs.

China recently also struck a deal with Kazakhstan to locate a uranium store near their border. Depending on the severity and impact of the unrest this may cause them to look upon Kazakhstan as a risky jurisdiction and they may look else where, which would of course benefit the African producers/developers.

    Interesting times indeed.

In general U market news we've been doing well the past few days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Just a quick note to say the bleed off continues. We've had one or two decent days but by and large it's been downward for U miners.

On the plus side it's still a good time to buy. There's been lots of those days recently!

I've gone in to full Ostrich mode and haven't checked my account in two to three weeks. It's a healthy enough habit once you're happy that the thesis hasn't changed. And it hasn't.

The next round of buying I'll do will be in early March. I'm selfishly hoping that the current bargain prices are still on offer.

Hang on in there, 2022 will be a great year for uranium miners!

Just purchased some CAMECO, UUUU and Yellow Cake and will leave them a few years. Thanks for all the commentary and advice @RainInSummer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭kellyj77

Still tipping away myself and accumulating each pay day. Went into the red for first time a week ot two ago. Learnt to stop checking each day as the swings are mental. Even in a single day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Great past ten days or so, portfolio is up 25% overall, and seeing as I'm about 95% uranium... It's all been uranium miners.

Not sure how much longer it can continue to run up, but I'm really enjoying the past while!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

All change over night, an attack and fire at Europe's largest nuclear power plant has seen ASX based U stocks tumble overnight.

The fire was in an admin building and poses no threat to the generating plant. Nevertheless there's nothing like sensationalism to grab a headline and induce panic selling.

Hoping some funds land soon and I can buy the dip....however long it lasts!
