Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have been with Gomo for 6 months now, all going grand except effing voicemails. I just don't seem to get notifications for them and they pile up without me knowing and I'm flakier than ever. Is this a phone issue (I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Android). I long for the good old days of those Voicemail notifications coming in with my Text messages. But if I could download an app that would show a number on the icon or something that would be ok. Or is there something in Android I haven't set up?

    Thanks.

Are all international calls included in the plan? I will be calling china perhaps every day over the next few months.

I get push notifications, is there a chance yours are switched off

As far as I know for WiFi calling to work on Android you must have Eir firmware running on your handset.

iPhones just work apparently as Apple include all the necessary settings in their firmware

As mentioned above, I use an iPhone 11 and I'm on the EUR 9.99 plan. VoLTE & WiFi Calling are still not active for me and, I assume, for everybody on 9.99/12.99 plans despite them being advertised as available to all subscribers by end of summer. Summer of '69 maybe... ? 😀

Yeah - they've been using the "on a few months" line all year

    Folks,

im going to loose the plot !!

I moved to GOMO when they launched and availed of the 10e plan. I got a few friends and family to switch too. It was great until late last yr, my service dropped, significantly. Im an average user with calls and data, not exceeding 15 gb monthly data.

HOWEVER, over the last yr i have had non stop issues - no data, no signal , dropping calls constantly, then some connections are full of echo and sound like im on a walkie talkie. GOMO said it was the ph, so i dumped the samdung and got a new iphone - still the same months down the road. GOMO sent out a new sim, no change, ive tried everything. Im going to try another sim, this will be my 4th.

By the way, it doesnt matter where i am around the city or country, same problem. My other half doesnt have any issues, never has, and she thinks service etc is fine. GOMO keep saying its the phone, i know damn well its not but they seem to be unable to help. Ive opened yet another ticket.

yesterday my calls wouldnt connect in or out in dublin area, and had a few missed calls etc. Shocking poor service.

ANYONE in the same boat at as me?

How do I set up voicemail on gomo please? My wife's had gomo for 2 years; someone recently told her they'd left a couple of voice messages for her. Her phone shows no sign of this: no text arrived, no missed calls. The gomo website doesn't seem to mention voicemail, or is it given a different name?

    Thank you

She just has to call 171, like on the other networks.

I'm in the US a couple of days now and my gomo sim still hasn't activated in my pixel 3a, also when I was in France and Spain a few months ago I couldn't make or receive calls, just a single beep and then it would be in my voicemail once I got back to Eire. Gomo support just keep telling me its the phone, anything I can try?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭KildareP

Not sure of why France and Spain would cause issue however the US has shutdown it's 2G networks entirely and is also turning down it's 3G networks which are to cease entirely by February 2022, leaving just 4G and 5G networks on air.

It's set to cause havoc as, unless your device is VoLTE capable AND your home network supports VoLTE AND your network has a VoLTE roaming agreement with the roaming network then you'll get permanent no service when travelling in the USA.

However if you're on the €14.99 GoMo plan you should have WiFi calling available to you.

WiFi calling won't work on a Pixel 3a on GoMo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 202 ✭✭magher

Thanks, that could be it, I'm waiting to try my sim in an iPhone 11.

I'm an OG 9.99 customer, so not on wifi calling yet AFAIK

Just ported over on the €14.99 plan specifically for WiFi calling. Using iPhone and enabled Wifi calling in settings and got a prompt to accept eir WiFi calling agreement which I did. Network briefly showed up eir - WiFi calling as the operator while connected to my home WiFi network, however now it’s just showing GoMo and I’m still connected to my home wifi network. Turned off and on both my phone and wifi calling but still just showing GoMo. Anyone else have a similar issue ?

Gomo won't support Wi-Fi calling on any pixel device AFAIK, no idea why not.

Try putting it into airplane mode and then trying to make a phone call ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 69 ✭✭AB7

I’ve done some further digging, and it’s working on my Eircom fixed line broadband but which is extremely slow so I use mobile broadband router for everything but it isn’t working with that, so it appears to be an issue with the mobile broadband with 3 not a GoMo issue. I think it may be because the broadband SIM card gives a private IP instead of a public IP which can cause routing issues.

WiFi Calling uses IPsec to transport the voice traffic over the Internet, between your phone and GoMo server (ePDG). Usually the issue sits with the ISP or their router which are blocking / filtering IPsec traffic. In some older routers IPsec traffic needed to be explicitly allowed (turned on). What is the router used with 3 mobile broadband?

  • Registered Users Posts: 69 ✭✭AB7

I’m using a TP-Link Archer MR200, I’ve just checked and IPsec is enabled already.

WiFi calling only works if you have very stable Broadband. It not so much about high headline speed as low jitter. Compare the jitter reading on your eir landline broadband with the jitter on your 3 mobile broadband. You should find that the landline jitter is rock steady.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭KildareP

The latency and jitter on a mobile broadband connection is unlikely to be good enough to support WiFi calling, particularly during peak times when the 3 network can become extremely congested.

However it doesn't use more than ~100Kbps each way while on a call so once your Eir line can reliably support 100Kbps each direction then it will be far more suitable than your 3 connection.

After putting sim in iphone 11 it worked immediately, got onto AT&T.

I then put it back into my pixel, no joy again, into a 4g alcatel, no joy, and finally back into my pixel and it worked!

I'm thinking it could be a physical issue, maybe if nothing changes for a long time the sim settings are cached, and when you change country you need to physically kick the sim contacts?

Does anyone know if calls to an 0818 number are included in the GoMo plan?

  • Moderators, Regional South Moderators Posts: 5,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quackster

  • Registered Users Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Logo

Thanks Quackstar but I'll need to call ptsb bank and expect that I'll be on hold for a significant amount of time so I'd prefer to confirm that 0818 calls are covered (in case the €9.99 contract with GoMo excludes these).

  • Moderators, Regional South Moderators Posts: 5,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quackster

Sorry, I should have said by law they have to be treated as regular land lines so if land lines are included (as they are with GoMo), that includes 0818. You'll see it if you dig down into their price-plan rules.

I seem to have stopped receiving 2FA texts on my phone - for any service (Facebook, Coinbase, PayPal etc. - I've tried loads of different ones).

It still works when I select "Call Me" so the right number is still on file for all these accounts, it's just the texts not working. Any ideas?

My partner is able to text me and I receive it. It seems specific to 2FA texts.

Same problem. No 2fa texts. Anyone get this resolved?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,860 ✭✭✭Bummer1234

I get this issue aswel with making payments online with my KBC card and trying to pay on the Ticketmaster website, I just never receive the text message.....KBC blame GOMO, GOMO blame KBC....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,324 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

GoMo have told me it's a current problem they are aware of and should be fixed ASAP.

I jumped the gun earlier, it's not just 2FA texts - it's all texts for me. My partner can't text me either.

I asked how I'll know when it's fixed and was told to just try again in a few hours. LOL.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,741 ✭✭✭withless

All texting gone with me too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,377 ✭✭✭jgbyr

Didn't realise this was going on today. Had issues with a verification with AIB all day. Tried again a few minutes ago & working now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 866 ✭✭✭timetogo1

Same problem for me this morning but they all started arriving at 1:30.

About the only thing I use texts for these days is 2fa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,324 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Mine still isn't working. A bunch of them came through from earlier but had obviously expired. Still not receiving them now though when trying to request.

Im switching back to Vodafone first thing tomorrow morning. GoMo are useless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,628 ✭✭✭Gooser14

Have you checked your "Blocked Messages/Calls" folder for the missing messages? I'm using GoMo & I find a lot of txt messages are being diverted to this folder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 706 ✭✭✭jrmb

I'd recommend the blocked messages folder too. If the problem really is the GoMo network, An Post Mobile is worth a try.

Anyone else still having the 2FA issue? I've just discovered it today upon going back to work. I can't receive 2FA message to connect to my work VPN.

I restarted phone - no joy. Put SIM in another Android phone - no joy. I temporarily updated my work number to my wife's iPhone (who is also Gomo) and got the message fine. Tried my SIM in her handset (oo I say) but didn't get the message.

Then I saw these messages... so I'm pretty certain I've the same issue. Last worked on 29th Dec too (when I was last in work). Mailed Gomo but no response yet.

(edit to say I tried the usual spam/blocked but no joy there either)

  • Registered Users Posts: 305 ✭✭Billy Whizz

Tried again today and it worked.

No response from GoMo to the ticket I logged 24 hours ago though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,317 ✭✭✭emo72

Same. 2fa issues for me. Having a nightmare even contacting them. Live chat asked me to find out what networks government and bank use to contact me. Is that mad? How the feck am I supposed to find that out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 T4two

I've just switched to GoMo from Vodafone. The only issue I have is that although I can send texts to everyone, I'm not receiving texts back from certain people, it seems maybe Vodafone customers. Anyone have this issue and how can I resolve?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

I'm honestly baffled by these 2fa issues, I've no such issues and have been with Gomo since they launched 🤔

Morning - looking for a bit of advice / help if possible please

My Da has a Gomo SIM, has it about 18 months or so. A few weeks ago the coverage in his area "stopped" (his words!) during particularly stormy weather. Service hasn't come back for him, so I think it is possibly an issue with his phone/SIM rather than a network issue. I also suspect that the storm may not have had anything to do with it.

Problem is, he doesn't remember his login, his email, his password - he is confused by the entire thing - so we can't login to Gomo to chat to them about it or to reactivate his account.

He currently can't get/make calls or texts. If I try to reset his account, it sends a verification text, but he isn't getting texts. So we're going around in circles. Added to this, he is 200 kms away, so we're trying to fix this over the phone, with him on landline trying to look at his mobile

Is there a phone number he can call to speak to them?

I've tried to DM them on Twitter to see if they can help, but no response.

Morning all, I've been with GoMo from the start, absolutely no issues but.....

Over the past 2 days I've started to get bombarded with calls from UK numbers , anyone else experiencing this🤔

Literally 5 a day, all different numbers , usually before lunch , clearly spam but I know how to deal with this nonsense.

Just wondering anyone else experiencing this 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭KildareP

Yes, nothing to do with GoMo though, the numbers are being dialled at random. Best you can do is not answer them and your number will be marked as inactive and the calls should stop after a week or so. Blocking is unfortunately no good because the numbers are always different each time. If you answer them then they know the number is active and they'll keep calling now and in future "campaigns".
