The point was to grab papers from before the current overload of papers from the latest vaccines, but you can pretty much go "X vaccine myocarditis" to see papers from the past covering it.

Adverse Effects of Vaccines: Evidence and Causality - PubMed (nih.gov)

    Happy reading.

No thanks. Hopefully schools enforce the mask policy for all our sakes.

Like most settings, high community cases will cause outbreaks in schools and hospitals.

Once it gets in to that setting it's free to spread. Hospitals have regular testing and infection prevention controls in place. Schools had contact tracing. Soon after that was dropped cases in kids shot up.

Rather than the government admit that was a mistake, they are fumbling over themselves to fix it. They have started antigen testing in schools, so there's some testing going on.

I just wish they could communicate properly. Have an adult discussion.

Cases are high in the community, they will eventually spread into and around schools. So you can either lower cases in the community (countrywide lockdown) close schools to reduce the spread in cases (obviously they will still spread in outside school activities), keep schools open but maybe limit outside school activities.

It's the communication of the above that's been dire.

Heard from someone teaching in EU who said most of their day was trying to keep masks on 6-7 year olds and to get them to keep any kind of distance!

The ECDC also states that schools are high risk environments and recommends the use of HEPA filters, contact tracing and antigen testing

We open the windows, refuse antigen testing until almost 2 years into this, stop contact tracing and still repeat the mantra that schools are safe but pantos and birthday parties are lethal!

Really? I don't think there's much support for that. Personally, I think it's ridiculous. Adults can't even wear masks properly, what chance have kids. Pointless exercise.

But it doesn't do anything. Unless you're recommending N95 masks or better and hepa filters, (I would not be in favour of that).

Masking is not good for children's emotional development and has not benefit. It's wrong to push it on primary kids.

Thanks but I'll trust the experts on that instead of a randomer on the Internet.

Maybe don't trust either and try to use your own cognitive ability?

The experts that say (incorrectly) that masks reduce spread by more than 50%, or the experts who say they reduce spread by something more like 10%, or the experts that say that masking indoors is not going to reduce the spread of an airborne virus, or the experts that say that cloth masks can exacerbate/encourage other respiratory infections, or the experts that say masks are bad for children's development, or the experts that say that ear loops can cause permanent ear deformity, or what?

How do you personally decide which experts to trust?

Its clear who doesn't read links

The overall estimated incidence of myocarditis within 42 days after the receipt of the first dose per 100,000 vaccinated persons was 2.13 cases (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.56 to 2.70), which included an incidence of 4.12 (95% CI, 2.99 to 5.26) among male patients and 0.23 (95% CI, 0 to 0.49) among female patients (Table 2). Among all the patients between the ages of 16 and 29 years, the incidence per 100,000 persons was 5.49 (95% CI, 3.59 to 7.39); among those who were 30 years of age or older, the incidence was 1.13 (95% CI, 0.66 to 1.60). The highest incidence (10.69 cases per 100,000 persons; 95% CI, 6.93 to 14.46) was observed among male patients between the ages of 16 and 29 years. In the overall population, the incidence per 100,000 persons according to disease severity was 1.62 (95% CI, 1.12 to 2.11) for mild myocarditis, 0.47 (95% CI, 0.21 to 0.74) for intermediate myocarditis, and 0.04 (95% CI, 0 to 0.12) for fulminant myocarditis. Within each disease-severity stratum, the incidence was higher in male patients than in female patients and higher in those between the ages of 16 and 29 than in those who were 30 years of age or older.

And the established pre covid science on myocardititis is that the highest risk is in males aged 16-29. This is what the studies have also found with respect to covid and the vaccine so no reason to suspect it would be any different in younger age groups and strong evidence that it wont be different. Yet you are here spreading fear with respect to children.

I don't support masks in primary school.

However a study comparing schools with mask mandates vs. schools without mask mandates from the US found that those without masks were 3.5 times less likely to have a coronavirus outbreak:

CDC: COVID Outbreaks Far Higher at Schools Without Mask Mandates (edweek.org)

Masks do work at containing spread, that is unequivocal.

The question is whether we need to be containing spread at the school level or can we keep the cases and hospitalisations at a manageable level using other methods.

Nphet masterminds at work, picking the next demographic to blame for the spread...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,801 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Have NPHET ever blamed anybody? I know certain govt politicians have but I'd take no notice of that

You want to blame somebody then blame the person who decided to make Ireland a wet and cold country where respiratory viruses thrive in the winter

🤮 The media continues to scrape the barrel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,600 ✭✭✭BanditLuke

Why? No need to go back to that. Simple precautions and possibly some looking at nightclubs and pubs closing times will hopefully pull us through the winter until boosters are widespread.

What is beyond me, and I mean I am either too dumb to grasp it or it's such a logic reasoning that is impossible not to follow it, is:

The injection doesn't work as it was promised, this is an inconfutable truth, it may prevent serious hospitalization in certain instances but we will never know because we don't have the proof that, if we didn't vaxxed 94% of the population, the same would have happened. We can only rely on data from other countries, well we should use also Israel, Gibraltar and iceland for example and draw our conclusions.

The vax was designed for the first variant: it may have been more effective back in march 2020, but we have already noticed that with the evolution of the virus its effects are waning. Why people are racing to get a booster of the same vaccine? They already mentioned that is not effective for the new variant, so why the stampede in the vaccination center?

The vax cert doesn't in any way prevent spreading the virus/killing the virus, increase mortality/decrease mortality: it was designed to keep track of the vaccination status and it should have stopped there. Our politicians/eminent virologists thought differently and have imposed it as an instrument of discrimination: with that many vaccinated ,imposing the vax cert mandate, has been like mandating that only people with a nose can socialize.

Face covering are not working and, in the way they are used, aren't effective in any way to prevent transmission: imposing this to children is the next level abomination. Whoever is hiding behind the narrative that it has been done to protect the community, is in reality thinking about his/her old self: what else are we prepared to accept before it's too late? We comply because we want it to end, but it will never end because we comply

Ursula Von Der Leyen is now talking about implementing a ‘mandatory vaccination’ policy across the EU. This has to stop right now.

I love your dismissal of something as mild - it's your fcuking heart - nothing wrong with your heart is mild unless it's relative to being dead.

imagine being a young lad of 19 being on tablets for your heart for the forseeable and with check ups and no exercise for months - and being dismissed by some internet hero as having a mild issue.
