40% of Swedes live alone, which makes keeping people apart a lot easier.

Donal o keefe (LVA) on morning Ireland now, he's delighted with weekend trading, meeting gov officials shortly re ticketing rules later this week. He's toned down the rethoric. He believes pubs won't be operating ticketing system, there won't be live music by default.

He's confident his members are doing contract tracing, if members have to introduce these measures, he looking for at least two weeks grace to implement.

Should be an interesting meeting this morning.

Nah I'm not blaming atheists. I'm trying to understand how metaphysical assumptions help to determine a course of action.

What we are doing would have unthinkable as recently as the 1980s and '90s therefore something about humanity and its attitudes has changed.

I was quoting the Bible on the early iterations of this thread before you started reading it.

I try not to bring my religion into it much because it's not relevant all the time but if we are discussing attitudes to life and death then it can be relevant.

Jesus the baloney that’s been posted on these forums the last day or so and not to mention all the patting on the backs. The thread has too many antivaxxers ( morons) on it that fail to understand how it all works. So you’ll never get an intelligent conversation on here, despite laying out the facts. It’s just the same old echo chamber.

Thankfully in the real world in my experience people are different compared to this sespit.

I’m logging out of here for a while and will be continuing with getting on with my life thanks to vaccination and practicing a few health guidelines. Thanks to that i will be able to travel to the USA to see family that i haven’t seen in 2 years. It’s that simple really. Normality for me has returned quite significantly. I can now do things pre 2019.

To the smart asses and the lockdown misery merchants who like to post sarcastic ‘loopy ‘ comments like “ tHe pAnDemIc iS oVeR” it really depends how you look at it. If you’re vaccinated and follow a few simple health guidelines it actually is over. But if you refuse vaccination the pandemic is going to be far from over for you. So expect to be refused entry into establishments for the foreseeable future. So you can whine and moan about the passes and atheist’s until the cows come home because they’re not going away.

Keep up with the quality of posting because i won’t be replying to replies to this post, i’m out of here 😉

I have no idea what it is you now believe would have been unthinkable in the 1980`s and 90`s.

Best I can manage with your religious based beliefs is that they are in some way tied in with your thoughts on humans living longer. But that doesn`t make much sense either if your beliefs are Bible based. The Old Testament is littered with people who lived for 900 years and more, and even the New Testament has 3 people who were dead being brought back to life.

I believe popular acceptance of lockdowns, masking, mass home confinement etc on and off for 18 months would have been unthinkable in say 1985 or 1990.

Best you can manage with the rest of your post is a poor effort.

Absolute nonsense. This is no longer about public health because if it was we wouldn't have BS like this.

It sounds like you're saying we shouldn't be concerned with the excess death amount caused by COVID because most of the people are quite old? If I'm misreading, can you put COVID deaths and that theory in context with each other.

while i'm not looking to debate the ins and outs of who is right and who isn't. Cos everybody is wrong.

I find the "debunking" articles and the use of them as some type of conclusive evidence fascinating - what you are really saying is "something else disagrees ". but that is less profound than saying somebody is "debunked" which sounds sort of final, i guess.

nobody is debunked really, it's just a pissing contest.

Also fascinating to me is , the oft maligned Dolores Cahill being a prime but not the sole example, respected scientists / authorities held in high regard until covid and when they have gone against the general consensus on covid (which is the state narrative) and suddenly they are now persona non grata .

It does look like an effort to silence dissent more than anything. The idea that the public shouldn't be allowed consume "disinformation" is political control and anti scientific in the extreme . Like who is the authority to label something "disinformation" and then try to tell you not to read it? It's a modern day burning of the books.

can't have the people getting funny ideas now...

What a colossal **** show - they still dont know the regulations they are supposed to be operating under, and neither do the government.

What was it the Taoiseach said - it will all become clear? lol

The requirement for a ticket will be determined by whether dancing is taking place, rather than live music as previously envisaged.

Will foot tapping be allowed and will the dance police be monitoring for anyone throwing shapes without a ticket to do so?

Apologies if you felt it a poor effort, but when you present someone with a riddle, wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma you do not give them much to work with. A practice you appear to wish to continue with dates now being thrown in randomly. At a guess 1985 may be an oblique reference to AIDS, 1990 is anybody`s guess.

My belief is that without the measures taken the death toll would have been many multiples greater, and I have yet to hear a coherent proposal that would have not resulted in that being the case

I don't believe so but a sudden move of the hips could lead to a fine or immediate arrest 😁

I think there's a difference between being concerned about excess deaths and trying to turn society into a machine to delay all deaths indefinitely by surbordinating everything else - which I call monomania. Some deaths from old age can't be put off because people beyond natural lifespan see their immune system crumble. Lockdowns and vaccines can't stop that so people will still die.

It's historically odd and some people have an open-ended commitment to this new controlled mode of life. - they won't drop support ever unless told to by authorities.

This whole ticketing thing will be a logistical nightmare for businesses and staff.

What happens if a person is too drunk to get in, or not old enough to get in, after buying a ticket? Do they think someone refused entry after a few too many is going to just quietly toddle away? They’ll be demanding refunds and causing mayhem at the door, slowing things down for everyone else and abusing staff who already have enough to concede with enforcing all the other arbitrary rules.

And what then happens to the unused ticket for the patrons who are refused entry?

Does the venue have to issue a refund and lose out on the revenue they would have made from drinks etc if the person had been allowed in? The nonsensical one hour advanced purchase clause is going to ensure that the unused tickets due to no-shows or entry refusals will go to waste, meaning businesses will suffer unnecessary financial losses and that other potential customers will miss out.

Its also completely unreasonable to expect venues to come up with some sort of online platform to accommodate this at their own expense after such long closures, and also to come to grips with executing it as per the rules when they are trying to adjust to reopening and running a business in already difficult circumstances. Not to mention the short notice given.

I can only assume the geniuses coming up with all these terms and conditions have neither set foot in the hospitality industry nor worked in it, for their entire lives.

It’s just ridiculous now at this stage, it’s nothing but lip service and theatrics. They just want to be seen to be doing something.

Time is a great healer. I`m sure I will get over it eventually.

In the meantime it would help if you came out from behind your wall of riddles and made at least some attempt in plain language to clarify what it is you are on about.

The ticket issued online could be free and payment if necessary for event could still be taken at door I spose.
