Their 65% was of total population, by that metric we're at about 68%. So no huge difference.

We'll agree to disagree but I'll end by saying, it's safe to say the most vulnerable and older population fully vacinated there and its them that vacinne protection is reducing, I'm only say this is a serious concern regardless of what percentage of population is vacinated, even Leo referred to Israels success and now serious challenge in tonights press conference.

They seem to have suggested tonight late September, early October hence the 20th October date for lifting last restrictions. In reality I don't think anyone can be 100% sure of anything when it comes to covid

To be fair Israel are testing 10 times as much as Ireland and Scotland 3 times as much, so no surprise to see them have a higher rate of cases really. I suppose the good thing is about finding cases is that you take them out of action instead of them running around spreading to even more people.

Let them at it by all means, but they should not be allowed in public buildings or on public transport with responsible people.

This is about protecting the health service now. Why should unvaxxed not be allowed on a train while an obese person is allowed into a McDonald’s? Where do you draw the line? Both can catch and transmit covid- still a good chance the obese person will have more likelihood of complications.

I know 3 people who are classified unvaxxed after bad reactions to their first jab- one ended up in hospital for 11 days- they obeyed every rule of this pandemic from 2k rules to masks, one has had to close his business (company providing security for pubs/nightclubs) he got minimal supports. Should these people have their civil rights removed?

    Who's fault?

I'm not looking to blame anyone here. We are just getting conflicting information is all.

It's desperate to think that people believe that junior infants may have to wear face masks...

I wasn’t sure on this FF/FG/G government when they initially came into power. Today, that changed for me.

I shed a tear listening to Michael considering all we have been through as a country. We should be very proud of what we have achieved and this government have been excellent.

What have we achieved? Wrecked mental health, ruined businesses, a two tiered society, constant threat of lockdown, and the latest is talk of masking children.

The fact that its being seriously considered means.. that its being seriously considered. Not a figmet of people's imaginations. They [the authorities] could refuse to consider the question entirely and declare it out of bounds but they don't do that. So it is a live possibility however unlikely you deem it.

For junior infants? Where has it been said that it's being seriously considered?

Its been seriously considered numerous times and hasn't happened.

More touching of faces may occur, including by those supervising children (eg teachers) where they need to assist a child with a face covering; this may lead to closer contact and potentially touching of high-risk secretions,” said Hiqa in its advisory paper on the issue.

    That issue will never change.

Donnelly stated this evening that HIQA already gave their feedback to nphet and it recommended no change. NPHET have yet to incorporate into the recommendations to government though

    But, but, but...junior infants...permanent...

    ...*sigh*

What is defined as a private setting where masks are not required

Right. So it won't happen for technical reasons.

However deciding whether or not to force very young children to wear masks is not merely a technical issue, it also has moral and ethical implications.

If HIQA recommended it I still wouldn't allow it and if a restrictions-apologist zombie told me that its best to trust the experts I would laugh in their face or tell them to go to hell. Or both.

Bureaucratic neutrality is worn as a costume.

Individual members of committees dodge moral responsibility for their decisions both through the committee structure itself (which divides out decision-making among a group) and through the pretense that their words and actions exist on a plane of neutrality above the comprehension of, and overruling, un-credentialed non-scientists. Not so.
