    Hospitals are filling up now as you know

    347 in them now, 2% case hospitalisation rate, if cases grow past 3,000 we are in trouble

    What do you think the larger point I'm making though?

    Is there anything principled that would be a red line for you, that you wouldn't go along with but could be linked to a QR code, employment, financial transactions etc.?

    I read all your posts but I see nothing I couldn't read in any newspaper, hear on the radio, see on the TV etc.

    That last sentence is nonsense. I wasn't hospitalised...but I was as sick as I've ever been in my life. It wasn't, "effectively a cold."

    It was waaaay worse than the flu. I'm still not back to full fitness and I still can't taste and smell after nearly six weeks. Effectively a cold my arsé.

    I genuinely would like to know, generally speaking, if this lost of taste and smell is something that is 100%, or is because you have/had a nose/throat infection then the senses are kind of goosed? Like If I gave you a steak or a piece or cardboard would make any difference to you? I know it's very subjective but I've been always curious in relation to this post-covid symptom

    As I said. It will be gone before we know it. A temporary measure to relax some restrictions earlier than those making decisions were comfortable otherwise. There will be no long term vaccine “passport” other than on the case of specific pathogens in specific locations. Eg Yellow fever

    If I'm eating something that I eat regularly, it's kinda like my brain is reminding me what it tastes like. If I'm eating something that I don't usually eat...it's as bland as I'd imagine eating cardboard would be. If I eat something hot/spicy, I still get that runny nose thing but no accompanying taste.

    Okay but in Singapore it is becoming mandatory for employment beginning January 2022.

    I don't know what the future holds but it looks as if it is still only being 'rolled out' (hate that phrase) in many places.

    It can't be 'rolled back' fast enough imo.

    Without the vaccine we would be at over 5k cases per day assuming 80% effective at preventing infection, which is reasonable. The reduction in hospital rates also has to take account of the infections that never happened

    I suppose one small benefit is that you don’t get to smell your own f**ts after eating that hot and spicy food - unless your brain also replicates that.

    Oh gosh

    Im so impressed by his PHD research, what that has got to do with infectious disease is beyond me.

    why on earth werent people like Jack Lambert of the Mater Hospital on that NEPHET team, ie people that actually studied infectious diseases and work in this area.

    Taste comes back quick enough some things for example for me was beer took way longer than 6 months for the Taste of it to return to normal.

    Nearly a year on smell of certain things is still strange for certain things for me ,shampoo shower gel deodorant rool on or spray and fruit juices still smell like rotten shity foul water.

    Only able to use dove soap the type with no perfume.

    Positive is even the smell of these is less pungent but still can turn my stomach.

    I wouldn't have even known I had covid if it wasn't for the loss of Taste and smell it was just like a normal run of the mill cold otherwise.
